The Cradle = Ford = Littlefinger, got it.
It’s possible, a dozen or so years ago, Dolores was helping Ford build Bernard using her experience with Arnold to help tune Bernard’s “fidelity.” And that tuning may well have been done in the CR4-DL, which I think we can assume has been around awhile.
Had an idea that just occurred to me about episode 6. I think CR4DL means “consciousnesses of Robert Ford Lives”

@In Deep Geek. Remember we where shown a scene where Bernard said to Dolores that he was afraid of what Dolores would become and that he a had choice to make. Well I think Bernard will see all possible outcomes of Dolores narrative or while he is in the cradle and that possibly Bernard knows everything in his subconscious but he just isn't aware of how powerful Ford made him yet. Think of it, if Maeve learned how to speak to other hosts silently what more Bernard, the Chief programmer and favourite of Ford. Adding to all the data that Bernard uploaded into himself from Abernethy it means Bernard is now a multiprocessing server who can map out multiple outcomes simultaneously just like that the cradle can do. So Bernard will still have a choice to make like he said, but now he will know what to do and what the outcome will be.

i like it too! it works because maeve and Delores dont really understand what it is to be human or even to be alive. Delores has plenty of experience with humans, which is a strong benefit and thanks to felix and sylvester maeve has a good understanding of hate and love, the corner stones of humanity, but Bernard, he was built and raised in a human environment to be a human, and even his corner stone is a very humane suffering, but he knows hes a host, and can understand what that means as well as what it means to be human, if he was to become the master mind behind all of it i think it would be a very sweet and fitting ending.... the only thing is i believe Arnold may still be inside bernard, or Bernard will get Arnolds mind core, maybe that ties into his understanding, a host consciousness and human consciousness in one body for complete understanding, or bernard will just get his own body, as we have seen.. theres plenty of spares, either way bernards a very complex character.
Delors' posse was going to torture the QA guy. Teddy showed him mercy with a quick death. He offered the bullet to the programmer as a "bit" of mercy. Teddy is still in their fighting to get out
Monkey Boy I agree, it seemed Teddy is stronger, but still truly himself underneath. And he ultimately gave that man on the train a choice, which is a big theme. Idk about when he blasted the guy at the railway station....but it seemed to me that there was almost an inner voice really quick in his head telling/making him do it (reminiscent of the non- verbal commands that Maeve has figured out) but...that could just be me overthinking it lol.
I think Stubbs is a host with Teddy's consciousness uploaded inside of it. That is why Stubbs is so disturbed by the treatment of Abernathy and the other hosts. Also, I think Stubbs has always been a host. It was Ford's way of controlling security and making sure that his plans were not discovered. And, I think Delores is in Bernard's body in the "present" timeline. That is how they are going to get out.
Could be a total mistake, but if you watch with subtitles on, during the scene with Bernard and Elsie about to plug into the cradle, when Elsie is talking off screen, it actually lists her voice as "Hale".
I actually don't think it's that significant but could be cool if it really was Hale there with Bernard in the past and we were just seeing a mash up of his memories or if he's already done the whole cradle thing with Hale once and is repeating himself with Elsie now.
I'll be really surprised if Ford's uploaded consciousness is destroyed along with the cradle against his will. It would be the first time he wasn't 5 steps ahead of everyone.
I think Ford is the one that asks Bernard to destroy it.

Ganzo8386 , okay, to further go into that I would speculate that vy end of season what if the losr 3rd IP and all that was in the cradle, or was, is now "the passenger" meaning Bernard is holding all that info.. Ford's the that's a ghost in the machine and Bernard is going to become the machine in which the passenger is abroad for now?
That's got to be an Arnold hybrid waking on the beach, and not Bernard!
Has it been discussed that there may have been a larger motive for the hosts dead in the lake? Is it possible they were planted, so they could be brought back to the Mesa, revived by the revolutionists, and sneak attack from within?
What about Dolores's wet skirt in the fidelity test scene? I mean, it's not really wet (or blue or tangible in any way) if they are in the CR4DL, but why would it being wet be part of her self-conception or Bernard's conception of her? It could be a metaphor. In the first part of this conversation in season 1 Bernard was talking about a dream with her being on a far shore across an ocean. Then again, it could also mean that this is somehow happening after the hosts were drowned at the beach. But the CR4DL should have been destroyed by that point, so maybe this is happening at another CR4DL, perhaps at Will's secret facility.
I mention this, because the CR4DL is freaky and we still have no proven idea of what Will's facility is. The title Phase Space implies that the CR4DL can be used to predict all of the possible outcomes of a story-line, giving Ford in the CR4DL almost omniscient powers within the park. It could be that Will's facility is a larger version of the CR4DL, using guest data to run simulations of the outside world. This might explain why Dolores would see it as a weapon.
The suggestion that the CR4-DL can run all possible variants of a new narrative (apart from sounding like the basic plot of Black Mirror's 'Hang The DJ') does make me wonder if they've succumbed to that most lazy of devices - the 'all bets are off' narrative; anything can happen therefore anything will. I hope I'm wrong.

If you pay close attention to the current timeline, the cradle was destroyed around the same time that that hosts were erased and the backup arrived. This is important because Ford showed up in the cradle just before this. That being said, Bernhard entered the cradle just before this happened and ironically, had a core that looked very similar to Delos removed before he could enter the cradle as a host. This leads me to believe that Ford is going to reveal something vital to Bernhard/Arnold while they're interacting in the cradle, which will unlock Bernhard/Arnold's humanity while at the same time cripple Delos plan by wiping the info that is vital to their plan.
Best part of the episode (except everything!) Stubb's name is ASHLEY. I laughed at that.
The military guy who comes in and called him Ashley is pretty damn funny as well 😂

I didn't know his first name, have never heard him called anything except "Stubbs". So, when dude said "Ashley" in such a deprecating voice, it struck me funny.
there a few times in S1 where you can hear/see his full name. hence, i found it much funnier when Coughlin purposely made fun of his name hahaha
Yeah if you're a dude named Ashley, you gotta go by Ash. That at least sounds kind of badass. Like Bruce Campbell in Evil Dead.
The above ground access to the cradle was destroyed. The cradle is still there. The cradle may have more than entrance and exit. The hosts don't know everything because they have to force humans to give more information. The human Teddy killed never told Delores everything. He said that he only knew the location. The cradle could be ten stories underground, which means the explosion would not have damaged the facilities. Delores and her crew have not done anything below ground in Westworld. Therefore she may wrongly believe that the train explodsion would destroy Westworld. The only way Delores can get out of the Park is from the beach entrance. The ground entrance train for guests is not operating. So my question is how does Delores plan to leave Westworld if that is her ultimate plan? I don't believe leaving the park is the plan at all because these hosts do not have the technical equipment once outside the park to repair themselves.
Did Westworld get the train-going-into-the-mesa wrong? The engine is in front of the passenger car as the train enters the mesa tunnel. I thought the train pulls out of Sweetwater in reverse, heading to the Mesa. That puts 2 passenger cars on the train. The hosts leave the technician in the back car - which will hit the Mesa first. They pull the pin and the passenger car separates from the second car and the engine. I anticipated that the passenger car with the technician is filled with nitro or some other explosive. So it enters the Mesa first, explodes and the second passenger car with the engine then delivers the hosts into the Mesa without harming them. The technician is hysterical because he knows his car will run into the Mesa first, killing him. Am I getting this wrong?
Williams daughter is heading to the weapon as well. I have a feeling that it is very close to the West world Raj world border. The season is called," The Door", and even though Fords game is to lead William to the Door ,doesn't mean that winning requires passing through it. I think that William will ultimately chose to not pass through the door. Perhaps he will push his daughter through the door. Perhaps she is gravely hurt saving him. Yes it is one hell of a prediction , but I already predicted that Ford would show up in ep 7.....(missed it by this much ~!) That was before the season began muahahaha
Ford (Arnold) have made Meave and Dolores try different paths for the same goal (Host-consciousness).
Meave goes the soft way, where she interacts, empathizes and connects deeply with both humans and hosts. Dolores takes the hard-core tyrant way, leading, forcing and changing other hosts (Teddy) regardless of their own choices. The only humanity ("host"anity? lol) was her consistent love (?) for Abernathy, who seems to be a key database for Delos. It would be interesting to see how their paths overlay, with Bernard as well.

if william is a host that certainly explains why he's basically indestructible despite being about 90 million years old...

I wonder if Dolores and William are using the term "fidelity" with exactly the same meaning. In William's conversation with Host-James Delos I understood the usage to be similar to high fidelity audio, in that it should be a faithful reproduction of the original - and that could easily be applied to Dolores' conversation with Bernard, but fidelity can also denote loyalty, in that way feudal vassals swore fidelity to their lords. Is she testing his faithfulness to the original Arnold, or his position with regard to her and her goals?

I think the point of the extended time in Shogun World is to show the difference between Dolores and Maeve. Both are on journeys to find a family member but their approaches are polar opposites. Dolores is forcing everyone to her way of thinking, even those who are helping her. Maeve is allowing the other hosts to choose their own paths, even if they have not reached sentience yet. It looks like those two are on a collision course. (Great to see Ford back!)

I heard podcast critics saying they though shogun world was pointless and too empty of a plot point but I think u are spot on with your analysis. Maeve and Delores are on a similar pursuit but totally different methods I think the next time they run into each other will be far more interesting than the first run in we saw between them earlier in the season
I agree that scenes between Delores and Bernard are happening in the cradle. Or at least some of them. Others could be his memory that is fractured. Delores already told him that it has been a long time since they spoke together. That with the multiple Bernards tells me that Ford was in an Arms race with Delos to be the first to successfully transfer consciousness to a host. It was Ford who realized that the Cradle was the key rather than building more hosts. He could simply simulate the fidelity test over and over without cost, and with incredible speed. What ever he discovered he realized that it was better to live forever everywhere rather than as a host.
Nice catch! If Ford is code he needs the hosts to fight to be free otherwise his afterlife will be spent as the property of Delos, which would be a hell of sorts. Query: If Maave was programmed by Ford to leave the park and infiltrate the mainland, how has her choice to find her daughter disrupted Ford's plans?
That is, presumably, because of the improvisation heuristic Ford gave her.

Go look at when William and Grace are speaking over the campfire. It’s a fidelity test for him. As they recount who was afraid of elephants when Grace was a child. Who misremembered? William? Grace? Neither? Perhaps that’s when he realised she was real.
But that’s a definite fidelity moment.

Yeah, but I'm not sure "CR2DL" or "CR1DL" work as well as acronyms. I think the "4" references specifically what that location's purpose is.

A few obvious points I've never seen. 1) If the parks are on an island, why didn't they just cut the power to the entire Island? Maybe they have their own power sources but I'm sure cutting power would have slowed down Ford and the hosts. 2) Its the 2050s and advanced Drone technology could have given Delos tons of info well before dropping in. Why put human beings in danger when they could have had an airforce of drones scanning the parks. I'll bet they had drones that could zap hosts, turn them off, yet not destroy the IP. Thus cutting power and drone surveillance still hasn't been even mentioned. (cutting open a ghost nation host and watching a video is about as far as its gone) I blame the writers for limiting the obvious solutions I"ve just mentioned and feel frustrated. Any thoughts folks?

What did I think about episode 6? I can't think about anything with this series and rely on videos like yours to do the thinking for me. But if you insist, I think that the Delta force parachuting, taking over the situation, and undermining Stubbs is kinda cool. Got to love these special forces, they think they have it all under control. By the way, in the events that took place "after 2 weeks", does any of the special forces appear on-screen? Can we assume that they all died after the train bombed the base?

I think their is more to maeve story she starting to use human emotion her path it’s very interesting < it could be a heart 💔 breaking one in the end plus think the daughter is a copy The actual real one that is I believe is a human in the Park or part the organisation hmm 🤔

May as well go either way. One more remark: to me it seems only possible that Emily is the host, if any, coz' William (human) has been testing James Delos lately (less than two weeks ago).

Maybe 'phased space' & the cradle contain every possible outcome,maybe when we see diff qr teams in different places,sometimes dead....same with Teddy. Could we not be jumping around a single time line,but multiple realities with diff outcomes? Just a thought,i think your right on point...just trying to see if Abrams will do a 'Lost ' on us!jk
Ford is in the Cradle printing hosts. Dolores is in the Cradle debugging Arnold’s mind for a Bernard print. Could they be working together? Dolores herself has been reprinted as technology improves. Is Wyatt just another print?
When they showed the face of Ford reflected, I figured they were just pasting old footage, that Hopkins had not returned this season, but once he spoke, I knew. Also, Hopkins' IMDB shows he now has credits for appearing in this season, so yay!
That cradle sounds like a dangerous place to be. Talk about being stuck in your own head, or a major case of analysis paralysis. I'd end up lost in there and end up forgetting I was there at all. That's just creepy. Nice job as always, Robert.
Also that is why the room they found James Delos is numbered... They have been doing this with many others, perhaps including Arnold.

I am guessing that they will upload themselves into the cradle. Once uploaded they will drain the water that controls the cooling. This might cause an emergency transfer of the data to a remote off-site location. At that location Ford has a way to make new bodies for all of the hosts.

I liked that they showed us the aftermath of Shogun World and that Hector and co weren't abandoned by Maeve. I didn't really understand why she wanted Akane to go with her... She's desperate for a family? But the contrast between Maeve and Dolores is much more pronounced in this episode - Maeve doesn't force her will and seems not to want to. It'll be interesting to see what she does with her daughter. And Dolores - how could she be shocked by Teddy's new behaviour? She wanted him that way! And then the Ford reveal... So much happened in this episode and this one seems to have raised many more questions instead of providing answers. I have no idea where it's all going to go next! :O
wait, I finally lost it all.. I didn't really follow the plot, sorry ... I thought they were trying to make Deloses physical substance (brains) working within the host's body, and the brain rejected it? Or was it just a human-host-hybrid control ball, which is, in the end, not human consciousness itself, but just a ... artificial information storage? Another words, Ford is really dead, isn't he? And Arnold is, like, dead too? I lost the fckn line between host and human) I really don't remember the time, where these things were being explained... Plz help))
Gobledygok - The red control balls are mapped/coded human minds. William was trying to get one of these to "take" in a host body.
Hi Robert. It's me again with a weird observation from this episode which is the chat between MIB and Grace. The two weird facts are a) the fear of elephants account (I think MIB purposefully used this false fact to test Grace) and b) when Grace claims that she is old enough to try out the pleasure palaces, MIB seems to know exactly every word Grace is going to say and his was literally murmuring those same words "I rode there for..." So I think MIB has encountered Grace in the park and had this same chat more than once before. These details are very subtle and easy to overlook. But my wild guess is Grace is indeed a host and during this meeting with MIB she just improvised a little in the wake of the gala dinner massacre.

I feel like these theories are getting a bit much at this point, in particular the whole human ball thing. I feel like they answered who the ball was when Ford showed up in the Cradle, Bernard only ever mentioned/remembered one ball and explicitly said he brought it to the cradle. I think its possible that Ford was trying to reconstruct Arnold but through testing in the cradle, found that Bernard was moving in a different direction. Bernard's answer showed more humanity towards hosts than whatever baseline they were using, presumably from Arnold. The reason I dont think a hybrid is possible is because a big point to the show is hosts developing their own consciousnesses, and I dont see how it would be possible or make much sense to the plot for there to be two individual consciousnesses in one host, and if there was then I think we would see Bernard being pulled between himself and Arnold, which there is clearly a difference between the two because Bernard answered Delores differently. Also all the stuff about William is nonsense to me, I will say he blinked real slow like a host when talking to his daughter but it just wouldnt make sense to the story or serve a purpose for him to be a host, although I think he could face a host version of his younger self at some point. As a last point, I dislike the comments about shogun being pointless. I have always loved Westworld for its incredible filming and the contrast between Delores and Maeve was really dynamic last episode, they always went from night in one to day in another and it also helped a lot with Maeve's character arch. I'm really keen to find out the purpose of the cradle, how it gets destroyed and what happens to Delores. I'd also like to see where Maeve's story goes now that she has found her daughter. Great video as always, loved that you picked up on the wide screen at the start and love how you back up your theories. I am finding my experience of watching westworld to be better without making up my own theories because they keep changing it up anyways so I love hearing everyone elses
What color was the sphere that was removed from Bernard’s head was it a human or host sphere it looked like a mix of both?
Marc Reider The sphere removed from Bernard's head is black. The one he steals from the lab that we presume to be Ford was red.
The control ball is William. He died at the end of S1

I think his daughter IS a host. Maybe William lied to the hosts when he talked about his wife dying or maybe his daughter did too. He seemed heart broken when she said she WASN'T afraid of elephants when he knew she was.

I have a feeling she maybe a host too. In the Raj we were shown she clearly did not want to shag a host, so much so that she shot the guy - but the guy did not return the favour, nor did she feel the need to prove she was not a host. This may be nothing, but it could be more evidence she is in fact a host and we were given clues along the way.

Did you notice how Dolores's father was nailed to a table like a crucified Christ? The Judeo-Christian themes have to play here, and I'm fine with that, but that was quite a noteworthy development. Did we notice? Lisa and Jona and the writers might as well have placed the religious imagery in a parade and marched it right through everyones living room.
William also got family information wrong, or maybe he didn't? He said his daughter was afraid of the elephants but she said it was her mother (Williams wife) that was afraid of them. Maybe his backstory was gotten wrong, or hers was gotten wrong and it revealed she was a host to William.
William did 149 Fidelity tests with Delos in 35yrs, for AI within CR4DL, it was limitless time for doing Fidelity tests on Hybrid Hosts.

The company still exists today building the world's fastest supercomputers with different technologies and focused on AI. The computer in this show has a striking resemblance to the earlier model.
Nice Explanation and great Theory as always this is way come to watch your videos. What I think will happen in the next few episode is that Bernard will get a new body. Remember he was told that his current body is broken and that Elsie does not show if she will be able to put him back together to the way he was before. This also plays out the the next weeks preview where Charlote finds a lot of Bernards body's. That being said the also become more of Arnorld since he is now in the Cradle Arnolds mind could also be there. Hence this is way Delore's is testing Bernard to see if he remembers so their minds would merge into one Bernard/Arnold. Also we now that two weeks in the future the Cradle is gone Destroyd beyond repair so one has to wonder what happened and did Ford got a new body or did truly die for real this time. I think that Ford has a body somewhere. As for the Man in the black I think he will become a host too to complete his acention. Why since he been going to the park and is so captivated by it even though he wants to destroy it he still loves it. This is way he needs to become a white hat again and make up for what he did and the only way for that to become real is for him to become a host. Granted he could die in a blaze of glory making a sacrifice that could redeem him a bit. But his character is too good to kill of like that.
I go to reviews/explanations for things I might have missed. Most of them just re-hash I've seen or worse, notice less than I did. But you went beyond the usual with an excellent explanation of what "phase space" is, and especially, noticing wide screen black bars.... now we know that Westword will even use aspect ratio for puzzle storytelling. My only caveat is that you seem to believe that Cradle will be destroyed, i.e. it may very well be but I would be skeptical. It wouldn't be the first time that Westworld has used misdirection and incomplete information to obfuscate and deceive the viewer. What that Delos tech reports may be what Ford wants them to believe to gain time, etc. Or perhaps the physical cradle is actually destroyed but not the data within it.... Whatever it is, I think it will figure into the last or next to last episode of the season.
Lets ground this into reality for a minute. Simulation of Bernard inside Cradle wouldn't work. No matter how accurate the engineers coded the simulator, there are limitations. A simulator can't simulate outcomes outside of known parameters. Consciousness and self awareness has yet to be defined. Of course, script writers aren't bound by our restraints.
How come Stubbs managed to control Abernathy at his own when we see three other guys managed to put him down. How come he is so strong? Is he also a host?

One of the theories confirmed was Justin Thomas's guess that it was Dolores questioning Bernard, not Arnold questioning Dolores. I bet he was pleased. Also, my initial reaction to Bernard in the CR4DL was that he was in the Westworld version of The Matrix. As for Ford, he's the literal Ghost in the Machine. Glad to see him return, although not in a form I expected. Finally, my response to Hanaryo joining Maeve was "good, they needed more ranged DPS." I play too many MMOs. :-)

im surprised i havent seen anyone talk about the colors of Red and White occuring in the series. In the first episodes where Rebus and Walter drink milk and shoot people, causing pools of blood and milk to mix. The S2 promo posters have a white wasteland with red sky. Drone hosts killing human workers and dumping them in the bio-synthetic fluid, where their blood and the white fluids then mixing. Akane wearing white make-up and dress that is then caked in blood.
White is the color of innocense, while red is a color of sin. Hosts are made from white fluids, while Humans are made of red globules.

I still believe Arnold behind everything, in season ford mentions the reveries was Arnold code, what if this code activates on some self awareness check, maeve was technically the first too as she kept remembering til she was wiped a year before. Delores didnt become aware til she realised who wiliam really was. Now we have ford new narrative running thru the hosts and is causing conflicts from between fords and arnold code. Delores without realising is following ford code but maeve iis following arnold code. It easy to see as ford is cold and calculating where arnold was more emotional, Delores became a cold hearted killer where maeve became a protective mother and is going thru what arnold wouldve felt with his son dying he would anything for him. The fact no else til now has no idea what maeve can do, ford prolly had some idea but dismissed it cas it doesnt play into his narrative. The ghost nation i think thats arnold too, a safeguard in case if hosts went beserk that they would protect guests something ford not interested in doing otherwise he wouldnt done a red wedding bloodbath in s1 finale. Think im done for now
Also teddy could’ve been affected by Arnold code as well trying to steer delores off fords narrative instead shhe had his code changed more like herself which i think shocked her not only she lose her teddy she was also seeing herself in him which i believe might change her down the line, most likely she will kill teddy to protect possibly bernard
