Talk about a small world! 847 Berryville Pike is the seafood joint location, its still there as of today just abandoned. So crazy to see this time machine of a video. When was it filmed by chance? Love it! Also, RIP Nate, I did not know ya but you have a badass fox!
@@RetroFoxZach thank you buddy! Nate had some cool cars. Some of my greatest memories was hanging out with him and Bobby (blue LX) back around 2001-2005, we were #TheFoxbodyBrigade and had some amazing times. You must’ve been coming from Frederick, Maryland region and passed through Harper’s Ferry…. what a beautiful area that is. A lot of history.
12.9 ain't bad in a heavy full dressed GT model with an "old" standard bore 302 with Edelbrock performer heads-intake and E303 cam, 24lber's, pulleys, BBK/Flowmaster exhaust and 4.10s. This GT weighed 3,300+lbs. with a 200+lb driver (total weight was probably creeping towards 3,600lbs)..... not bad at all.
+nedaCFilms / Mustang-Town was this his best time? did he ever get this car on a dyno? also the gt were like 3190lb curb weight the gt fulll option vert was around 3300 lbs my lx vert stock weighed 3240lb no weight reduction at all still good by todays standard considering a hard top mustang now weighs 3700 long live the foxbody haha
hey nedafilms did he have air conditioning and power windows locks etc? just just trying to get an idea of weight on mine 87 GT no power anything factory stripper, fibreglass hood
+Jerry Cantrell Find your local "metal recycle" scrapyard, and you can weigh your car there. I weighed my early model 5-liter SN95 like that, it was 3,250 and I didn't even ask... I just drove on the scale and looked up at the digital readout, then drove away, lol. But anyway, I would think your car is somewhere under 3,100lbs give or take.
Muscle Mustang & Fast Fords magazine tested a bone stock LS1 and ran 12.9 with it... you can find the original article from 2001 on both my websites: Mustang-Town(dot)com & StreetShowDriftDrags(dot)com
12.9 is still pretty fricken quick. I ran that in my Subaru WRX.. felt awesome. Sold it though.. currently looking for a Fox Body mustang. Glad to see with a few upgrades I can break into the 12's easily :-) Can't wait to start the project.
+Doug FA They are a blast, lol. They were/are so special because they were just basic no frills affordable American Iron. You could get them brand new for $10,000 back in the day, throw some slicks on them, add some timing and 93 octane and run 13 second 1/4 miles. Impressive back in the '80s. They were the absolute "best bang for the buck" car through the '80s and early '90s.
It was pretty nasty back in it's day (late '90s - early '00s) but now not as much with factory 400+hp Mustangs, Camaros and Challengers running around, lol. This thing is probably putting out a little over 300hp to the tires, and it's a full weight and optioned GT model, so it's a bit heavy... if he would have trimmed the fat it would have been much nastier.
I agree... but in this day and age Camaros and Mustangs are running that off the showroom floor. Hell, the 98-02 LS1 F-bodies have been known to hit high 12 second times with perfect runs. But you are right, considering this car stock was a mid-to-high 14 second runner.
Yeah, same GT with this same setup when he raced the LT1 the 1st time (Camaro picks a fight in Mustang-Town) ...but he made a couple changes like Trick Flow intake, tuning, etc when they raced the second time (Camaro returns to Mustang-Town) which is why the Camaro didn't do as well as expected with the new bolt-ons, lol. Also, after the parts swap he managed to squeeze out a 12.6 I think it was...
Depends what you intend to do with it... the new-edge cars benefit well from 4.10 to 4.56 gears. The Fox-Body 5.0 motors have loads of low end torque and can perform great with 3.55 and 3.73 gears, but if you want to kill people stop light to stop light, or be an 1/8 mile champ, you can run 4.10, 4.30 or 4.56 gears. 3.73 is really the best middle ground gear. Then again, there is a fella on here (TooSlo86) that runs a GT40p engine, with a cam and 4.56 gears (alot of tuning) and runs 11s, so...
Ive had my fox for about 10 years and have gone through a lottt of tires.... currently running some nittos in the back, theyll last hopefully at least 2 years lol.
It's only a standard bore 5.0 with the typical heads, cam and intake, and other supporting bolt-on mods and gears... with that said, 300hp to 350hp is the limit for a basic under 180cc heads, under .500 cam and the tuned-length style intake setup.
Probably around the 230hp range (give or take)... there is a old company that CNC machine ports the E7 heads as well as adds 1.90 valves, etc... do a search for "Power Heads" and expect an addition 40hp from these heads. With the CNC E7 Power Heads and a decent Cobra or GT40 intake you can probably get your car up to around 280hp. You can send your heads in or better yet, buy a cheap set of stockers on eBay and have them shipped there. They've been CNC porting these heads since 1996.
In stock form they were and the crappy 2.73 gear ratio. LX Hatchback with suspension tuning crappy radials exhuast,intake,4.10 gears 31xx with me in it ran a 13.4 all day with a 1.97 60ft They arent fast stock form but it doesnt take anything to wake them up. plan for gt40 head swap and more tuning suspension upgrades. hoping for mid 12s
uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugh so nice. Currently swaping out my loveable 1990's inline 2.3 for a 4.9 1979 pace car replica's 5.0. The pace car is so rusted its not worth saving. So im ripping it out (with some help of course) and dropping it into my 2.3's body. Its got no rust and the frame of the car is perfect because well.... 88hp stock doesnt exactly twist or bend the frame haha. I just hope one day it will be as bad ass as this one holy fuck i am addicted to mustangs.
This footage was from years ago, in the Northern Shenandoah Valley region (the very top tip of Va) ...these days I've settled in the Piedmont region of Va, about an hour south-west of D.C.
I must say i have watched this video atleast 10 times man lol I'm thinking about replicating a road test review on my fox and playing some cheesy old background music like motorweek and car and driver did back in the day lol
Hey Nedac! I'm getting a fox soon, what do you think of 4.10s in a foxbody? My friend has them in his new edge and they are shoooooort. are they too short for your liking? Debating between 3.73s or 4.10s but i feel they're too short for such a small car
It really all depends on the purpose... Drag, street or road racer? Cam specs and intake design? The long intake runner design makes loads of torque at lower RPMs, as well as having an extremely low 1st gear in the T5 tranny... I personally think that 3.55 and 3.73 gears work well in the 5.0 and 4.10 and 4.30 gears are better suited for the 4.6 models as they don't make the torque that the pushrod motors make and need a torque multiplier off the line. Put some 3.73 gears in it, lol.
12.9 was respected back when this was shot around 10 years ago... by todays standards not so much as factory Camaros and Mustangs run that straight off the showroom floor.
12.9 is a bit slow for all those parts, may have needed more tire suspension who knows. there have been pleanty of full weight GTs still rocking the stock heads and cam, with a good intake, a good tune, the right gears, right suspension, the right tires that are just as fast. stock gt40p heads will get you the 300rwhp with the right cam and tune. that e303 cam was killing that combo.
Nick C. Yeah it's the "entry level" FMS cam, even though the "B" has a lower designation and lower lift, it's actually more aggressive when retarded 5-8 degrees.
12.9 is about right. The track didn't look that good of a set up as far as the surface goes, especially at the light to the 60 foot mark where most races are won or lost. Also don't forget about the air temp. which way the wind is blowing if there was wind, also humidity can make or break a drag race, as well as the elevation height at or above sea level which a lot of tracks won't give you a altitude correction factor time slips. Don't forget about the driver and the traction of the tires as well as the life of the clutch and tranny and the proper shifting RPMs because a lot of drivers like to max out 7000 RPMs on every gear thinking it will make a huge difference. I am very guilty of that so I had to teach myself to stop or short shift at the very least. Any way I thought I will add my 2 cents just for anybody that doesn't know these types of things. Thank you to whoever for reading this.
Damn, Hot Chick in a girlie V6 Mustang... I might have followed her home, lol. Yeah man, I have a 5.0 Fox-Body model and a 5.0 SN95 model. I have a few videos of them on here, and actually just posted a few newer clips a few weeks ago. I'm looking to trade my SN95 for a 1989 performance optioned 3rd Gen Camaro, to do a shootout type video series with the 3rd Gen and my Fox-Body. I have a weak spot for that era Domestic cars, lol.
Makes me miss my old Bird. The intake on that Five O looks identical to the one i had. I was putting 406 hp to the ground. The cam sounds a little bigger in this one. Pushin somewhere round 520 or so?
l always have people driving beside me with there windows down then get the thumbs up.Funniest one was some hot chick in a sn95 v-6 model that had her windows up when I past her,she sped up and buzzed down her windows and drove beside me for 20 minutes.l think she was pretending that the sound was coming from her car.Made me chuckle.Good times man!!! You still have a foxbody now? or wanting another?
That car comes out of the hole nice and that dude can drive. Was that 106 mph? Not bad at all and there's not a lot of money in a build like in the video description. Parts are cheap and plentiful for these 5 liter Fords.
Ordered 3.73s today, cant wait to get em in! My car has CAI, pulleys, shorty headers, off road mid pipe, exhaust, and a Ford Racing cam (not sure of the cam specs). What would you guess it makes? 220 to the wheels or so? Also does it help much to port the E7s? Thanks!
+tannerratzlaff I always considered myself a "Chevy guy" back in the day, but I always drooled over the 5.0 Mustangs. The 1985 and 1986 Mustang GT has always been my favorites (besides the 1993 SVT Cobra and all late '80s-early '90s Saleen models) ...and I also loved a nice clean "white" 1987 Mustang GT with red stripe on the trim molding. Those were so damn sharp when they came out in '87. I bought my first 5.0 Mustang in the early '90s and have owned many.... but I've actually owned more 3rd Gen Camaro-Firebird models and love them equally. These days I don't consider myself a Chevy guy or Ford guy.... I'm just an American Iron guy lol. Camaro, Mustang and Challenger.... I love the "V8Ponycars" ...love 'em!
tannerratzlaff Some people just take the whole "brand loyalty" thing way too serious, lol.... the same type people drink a couple beers an get thrown out of NFL football stadiums, lol.... they were the kids in 2nd grade that walked around saying, "oh yeah, well my Dad can beat up your Dad" lol.
What year was this? I'm assuming around 1999-2002 just because I spotted that MAF and it appeared to be the Black Composite/Plastic/polymer whatever material it was that PRO M went to from the Chrome Bullet 75mm.. If my memory is correct the Chrome Bullet came out in late 94ish I believe and then they went to that Black plasticish material around 2000 or something like that.

@@nedaCFilms Yep! Thats the route! Love Harpers Ferry area. Just crazy to see this video pop up again. I will go through and watch em all!
That pony was wild!
super Mustang bro and like put
got the same car 92 black on black gt except I have the sc style rims and one piece headlights same hood this one magical cars have fun
12.9 is still pretty fricken quick. I ran that in my Subaru WRX.. felt awesome. Sold it though.. currently looking for a Fox Body mustang. Glad to see with a few upgrades I can break into the 12's easily :-) Can't wait to start the project.
Fun $%^#ing cars! I always come back and watch this video. LOL
+nedaCFilms / Mustang-Town gotta love them ol fox cars
I fu@&ing hate 5 inch tachs on the dash. You already have one next to the speedo, you don't need another one.🤣🤣🤣
i can take that off your hands for ya, i need a car like that! Nice work
It was pretty nasty back in it's day (late '90s - early '00s) but now not as much with factory 400+hp Mustangs, Camaros and Challengers running around, lol. This thing is probably putting out a little over 300hp to the tires, and it's a full weight and optioned GT model, so it's a bit heavy... if he would have trimmed the fat it would have been much nastier.
i miss the 90's
I agree... but in this day and age Camaros and Mustangs are running that off the showroom floor.
2021 and 12 seconds is still the sh!t
I agree
I love to make my 85 Lincoln town car 5.0 fast when I broke it down
Nice car bro!
Then again, there is a fella on here (TooSlo86) that runs a GT40p engine, with a cam and 4.56 gears (alot of tuning) and runs 11s, so...
perfect fox body tone.
Ive had my fox for about 10 years and have gone through a lottt of tires.... currently running some nittos in the back, theyll last hopefully at least 2 years lol.
I am so ready to get one. Looking to spend like 5 on a nice one.
It's only a standard bore 5.0 with the typical heads, cam and intake, and other supporting bolt-on mods and gears... with that said, 300hp to 350hp is the limit for a basic under 180cc heads, under .500 cam and the tuned-length style intake setup.
thats a bad ass fuckn pony. i just installed a 306 in my 91' Fox and i cant wait to run it. hoping to reach low 13's.
LX Hatchback with suspension tuning crappy radials exhuast,intake,4.10 gears 31xx with me in it ran a 13.4 all day with a 1.97 60ft They arent fast stock form but it doesnt take anything to wake them up. plan for gt40 head swap and more tuning suspension upgrades. hoping for mid 12s
that's a sick car
uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugh so nice.
Doing same thing almost, swapping black interior into my 2.3 from other 2.3, then 5.0 from a 5.0
This footage was from years ago, in the Northern Shenandoah Valley region (the very top tip of Va) ...these days I've settled in the Piedmont region of Va, about an hour south-west of D.C.
Great tuning, great car, now you just need to learn how to control that amount of horsepower
beautiful car man
Having fun on rte 9 huh? Then headed over to Mason Dixon Dragway. Greetings to you. I want to do volunteer photographer this year.
Doesn't even need to try to burn out.. and too badass for the camera microphone lol A+++++++
If you can find the lighter "Notchback" Coupe model, which weighs in around 2,800lbs you can easily run 12 second 1/4 miles.
They juss don't kno bruh good work really
where is the rear window decal from?
I must say i have watched this video atleast 10 times man lol I'm thinking about replicating a road test review on my fox and playing some cheesy old background music like motorweek and car and driver did back in the day lol
Hey Nedac! I'm getting a fox soon, what do you think of 4.10s in a foxbody? My friend has them in his new edge and they are shoooooort. are they too short for your liking? Debating between 3.73s or 4.10s but i feel they're too short for such a small car
Happy New year
Nice car
It's in the video description...
12.9 is a bit slow for all those parts, may have needed more tire suspension who knows. there have been pleanty of full weight GTs still rocking the stock heads and cam, with a good intake, a good tune, the right gears, right suspension, the right tires that are just as fast. stock gt40p heads will get you the 300rwhp with the right cam and tune. that e303 cam was killing that combo.
e303 is mostly for S/T\C applications afaik
Badass
...thanks for the support man, lol
As Jimi Hendrix would say-Oh!!! Foxy Lady!!!!!
Sweet!
I have a bunch of videos on here of this car... Camaro picks a fight in Mustang-Town and Camaro returns to Mustang-Town, and a couple others.
Lol it's weird seeing the vid, sine this was all just down the road from me here in Berryville,VA
There is a HUGE difference between 14 second and 12 second 1/4 miles, lol...
true thunder right therr
DAMN
Best sound ever and nice lookin but should a deleted the ac and smog pump
for sure kinda like the 80's I-Roc not the fastest but didnt take much to get them there!!!
Thanks!
If that... probably more like 320hp to the wheels. But 320hp in a 3,200 lb car is a damn nice combo, lol.
Did you forget to release the parking brake? A bone stock late model fox 5.0 efi was good for 14s. So what gives? Btw, it sounds great.
This is the gt that spanked the lt1 camaro with the new bolt on mods. Was expect little better time though.
I'm a Chevy guy but I'd love to rip one of these around!
I love the "V8Ponycars" ...love 'em!
leave
+JASON THE UA-camR fuck off.
tannerratzlaff Some people just take the whole "brand loyalty" thing way too serious, lol.... the same type people drink a couple beers an get thrown out of NFL football stadiums, lol.... they were the kids in 2nd grade that walked around saying, "oh yeah, well my Dad can beat up your Dad" lol.
+nedaCFilms / Mustang-Town I agree, I'll joke around about ford but at the end of the day id give anything to own a fox and a ford lightning.
dope
highway to hell needs to be put over this, :)
Lol, that would be awesome...... but due to copyright infringement not good idea lol.
@@nedaCFilms indeed hahaha, currently restoring my dads 85 gt. These cars are so fun but hard to work on hahah.
i remember seeing this video a LONG time ago?
What year was this? I'm assuming around 1999-2002 just because I spotted that MAF and it appeared to be the Black Composite/Plastic/polymer whatever material it was that PRO M went to from the Chrome Bullet 75mm.. If my memory is correct the Chrome Bullet came out in late 94ish I believe and then they went to that Black plasticish material around 2000 or something like that.
LOL!!! ......sounds cool.
