      As far as 3rd party lenses are concerned, I would be particularly interested in Oly 45mm F1.2 and 12 - 40mm F2.8. The zoom lens is a bit more tele oriented than Panasonic's lens - does this come at a cost (e.g. worse quality)? Thanks a lot for your great videos!

    My lovely lenses are the Leica 12/60 , 12/35, 12mm and 15 mm.The leica 12/60 is the most sharp lens from all.Directly followed from the 12/35.the 12/35 have the best ios.1/25 second from hand with the gx9.

    I have the GH5 and instead of the lumix 12-35 I have the olympus 12-40 and I love it, It doesn't have internal stabilization but it has a wonderful image, the same with the 45mm, the olympus I think has more creamy background blur. I'm waiting G9 ii to be available in Greece to buy it with the Leica 9mm, Happy new Year Shane!

    Hey Shane, I love your videos! Why are the 12-60 and the 100-400 are not included? I think the 12-60 is the better travel lens because of the extended focal length compared to the 12-35 .. you can reach further without much more weight and its also plenty sharp and weather sealed and build like a tank.

    Hey Shane. Another tasty video! Since watching this I've started shooting everything on my GH5 mk2 in 50p. Looks awesome! Thanks for planting that seed.
    Two questions, I'm very keen on the 12-35 f2.8 and wondered if you use ND filters with it? Also, do you shoot using Shutter angle and if so do you believe in the 180 degree rule.

    Thank you Shane, great video. I own the 25mm f1.7 and it is a great lens to always have in your camera bag. It is light, it takes up very little space and can get great images. You mentioned the "kit lens" and I assumed you were talking about the 12-60mm zoom lens. I really think this lens is underappreciated. I use 2 of these on 2 X G85 camera in my studio. I train people via Zoom and Zoom only outputs at 1080p X 30fps (and only if you have an Enterprise licence). In this context, the 12-60mm can create a very good image. Nothing like the image quality which your kit can create but, if you are full time on Zoom, this is really good quality set-upfor a budget price. Thanks again for your video, I always enjoy your content and presentation style.

    Hello Shein, happy new year... Thanks for sharing your experience with us. This year I'll made twol trips of one month in Japan...so I was wandering if I should buy the 12-35. Since I love sharp images, since your feedback confirms what I've alteady heard, I will stay with the 12-60 f2.8-4 as my main lens during day time. And for low light, my 9 mm (and possibly) my 42.5 mm will do the job. Due to its weight, I hesitate to take my 10-25. But it's such a wonderful lens ... so may be, I'll take it for sakura at night.

    • @GeekyNerdyTechy
      @GeekyNerdyTechy  5 місяців тому

      The 12-35 is very versatile for travel and you won't be as worried about it as you would be with the 10-25mm f1.7. The 12-60 is very sharp, it's probably sharper than the 12-35mm to my eyeball test, but the 12-35mm is my favorite travel lens for video.

  • @MichaelBrazdaFilms

    Hi Shane, my go to lens for the GH5s has been the 12-35 2.8. I saw your great review on the 20-60 kit lens for the S5ii. Would you consider the 12-35 pretty close to the 20-60 on the s5ii, minus the zoom ring stiffness? OR what lens would you rather match up for the S5ii, coming as close as possible to the 12-35 on MFT? I know the 24-70 is matched, but it's extremely front heavy, right? Thanks!

    • @GeekyNerdyTechy
      @GeekyNerdyTechy  5 місяців тому

      Hi Michael, the 20-60 will give you a very similar look overall to the 12-35mm f2.8 kit lens. If you stop down to 5.6 it’ll look very similar minus the iso being higher. F3.5 on the wide end looks better on the 20-60 but the 12-35 is a constant aperture (and it’s also got optical stabilisation). I’d say it’s close if you set them up comparatively, but the 20-60 will give you more background blur if you let the variable aperture so it’s thing (with the exception of 60mm)

      Thanks, Stan. 10mm is pretty wide, but the Laowa is a better real-estate lens for tight spaces; it looks killer. The 35-150 is a great lens for outdoor work. I owned one previously and will no doubt now buy a used one again. I reviewed it a while back, it has some great image quality and it’s plenty sharp. The 14-140 is a monster of a focal length and while I only tested it briefly it’s a good lens.

    • @GeekyNerdyTechy
      @GeekyNerdyTechy  3 місяці тому

      The 12-35mm F2.8 is hard to beat given the price but you should always have a prime in there as well. I love the 9mm f1.7 for vlogging style stuff or anytime I need a wide angle. The 25mm F1.7 is a great choice for getting a lot more background blur than the 12-35mm but if that doesn't bother you, get the 9mm as it's a unique focal length to the 12-35mm.

    • @GeekyNerdyTechy
      @GeekyNerdyTechy  5 місяців тому +1

      It might not be a 1:1, but it works great. Give it a shot; the minimum focus distance paired with the focal length makes it great. This video is a round-up of my lenses, not a comparison between every lens available. If I owned the Zoom, I would have put it in.
