Thanks for the explanation of the differences. I had wondered what they were but never took the time to look.

The ekrano is great but my favorite thing about it is not needing to run an extended hdmi cable to a screen since it’s all in one

Great video! I picked up the CERBO-S GX a few months ago for my multipurpose off grid moto trailer. I did not need all the extra connections the full Cerbo provides. It has been a very nice addition to compliment the rest of the Victron gear I have. Being able to interact with the system via VRM is really nice. Recently did a FW update to the MultiPlus all via VRM portal which was a luxurious experience! Love you guys! Keep the great videos coming!

FYI Cerbo-GX and Ekrano-GX will communicate with your iPhone through Blue tooth transmission and also RJ45 LAN connection. (not on an ocean going/river vessels. But possible through Satellite communication.

on a boat I still prefer CerboGX in the engine room + hdmi cable extension (10m works fine) to the interior cabin where the switch panel is where touch50 is mounted. powered by a hidden usb socket that is connected with a switch. so I can switch off the screen if I don't need it, otherwise CerboGX is still on and is collecting data to VRM.

Victron does not approve of HDMI extensions. Victron's warranty does not cover damage or improper operation resultant of such installation of HDMI extensions. We cannot recommend this option for our customers.

@mantas6293>> Did you mean, you used a male to female HDMI connector to connect to 5" screen and a 5.1V power adapter to power the HDMI cable? If so, that's a great idea. You can also use high speed HDMI cable ver 2.0 (4K@60fps) that may not require external power. You may try it. jan23'24.

@@sreekumarUSA correct. I have cerbo in the engine room. and the touch50 in the galley. from the touch50 I connected the USB into a local USB socket to give it 5V. USB is only used for power, no data goes through it. Used regular HDMI extension cable 10m to connect it to cerbo it the engine room. everything works fine, touchscreen, clear and responsive. I checked the warranty conditions and did not notice any issue. I don't think Victron would care to certify some standard cables, it's rediculus to expect them to do that. like for bluetooth adapters, they said they tested a few and it works, some don't. they have not certified anything, just did some tests, or referred to others who confirmed that something is working. you can connect your Touch50 to PC and have it as a small monitor - it's nothing more than that 5V small monitor. :)

Technically the Ekrano’s two vecan ports are better than the cerbo as the cerbo bms can can’t do ve.can or the new rv-c. Example would be an rv with rv-c and you have a ve can mppt. You can’t then do rv-c AND vecan on the cerbo but you can with the Ekrano. Small difference.

The new device also has a more power chipset

It has quad core processor. that too is an over kill. single core chip in Cerbo- GX is good too.I watch my PV systems through my iOS/ OS X systems and also on my Apple Watch, from HKG, DEN, LON, DXB etc

Cerbo GX is great until you connect it up to 48v and it eats itself.

Yes, see our video regarding Victron's memo on this. Victron has corrected this issue and will replace any Cerbo that is affected by this issue.

@@CurrentConnected It's still a huge inconvenience having downtime and having to pay return postage. Something they should have corrected before releasing the product.
