In my opinion, Gear 5th (if it ever exists) should be his devil fruit awakening. What we've seen so far from Paramecia awakenings, were the generation ones. Those awakenings gave them the ability to make the area around them into the substance. So since Luffy's fruit changes his BODY permanently, and isn't based on generation, the awakening could make his body like super hard and bouncy rubber or something, and it deflects some attacks.
@@sansnetic9509 No we can't. Special Paramecia and Logias are two TOTALLY different things. Logias allow you to generate, manipulate, and turn your body into an element. Their bodies would also be made by the element. Special Paramecia on the other hand, allows you to have 2 Paramecia style abilities. What do I mean by that? There are 3 different types of Paramecia powers. First type permanently changes your body, second, you can generate a substance. Third, you can turn parts of your body into that substance. Katakuris special Paramecia allows him to do both generate AND turn parts of his body into Mochi. Regular Paramecia types are only supposed to do one.
This is why i think there will be no gear 5 vs kaido the fact that he ran out of stamina in gear 4 and if it had a gear 5 the stamina drain would be even more
If conqueror and armament have different haki pools and Luffy figures out how to use CoC for gear 4 then it will become stronger and also last longer since Luffy specializes in CoC as Oda stated.
In my opinion conqueror will be used tougher with his current gears and prevent/remove the time limit of gear 4th. Gear 5th will be the awakening. Of course that’s just a guess, Oda is unpredictable
I think the gears themselves are his awakening, since quite frankly an environmental awakening for Luffy's fruit would just be dump. At best it can function exactly how Bellamy's fruit functions in base, except luffy can already do that with gear 4th in the sense of bouncing off of stuff Personally I'd be fine if Luffy doesn't get awakening, or if his fruit awakening is his gears or is something dumb and unusable in combat, since having luffy have EVERY possible technique is some Ichigo type shit But probably most important is that Luffy's gear 4th is already sufficient for damaging a Yonko, and that's before any advanced conqueror's coating and possibly before luffy could use advanced armament with gear 4th consistently/masterfully. With advanced armament and conqueror's as well as just a general boost after this arc, Luffy's base form will now be capable of hurting anyone in the series (unless Im is crazy stupid strong beyond even Roger) and he can combo it w/ gear 2nd and 3rd to rock people's shit then gear 4th for the finisher moves. After 1010 there's really no pressing need for him to get another gear and take his combat to an even further level.

What I could see on gear 5th and 6th, is monkey king form and giant form. giant form is basically the complete version of gear 3rd, and monkey king form is the complete version of gear 2nd. gear 4th is a merge of gear 2nd and 3rd, there may be a complete version of gear 4th too. luffy can also be buffed by the strawhats, nami can clad luffy with zeus giving him thor based attacks, robin could give him extra arms, chopper could give him a drug that boosts luffy's power, for the other strawhats idk
What about static electritity? Like twisting his arms, putting his hands caoted in haki together and then un-twisting his arms to charge himself with a huge amount of static electritity by friction. Maybe this form could be the fastes at attacking but not moving, like his limbs will be attracted to his enemies bodies like a balloon stick to someone so he will attack with his hands extended like arrows. In this form he could do stromger fire and lighting attacks. Gomu gomu no rail gun.
I like the theory or idea that Luffy’s “Rubber World” would be more like Gentle from MHA. Where he could make his surroundings rubber including the atmosphere.
Another thing if Luffy decided to inflate hit leg muscles like in bounce man for maneuverability while using his snake man traits up too would be unstoppable but there’s more… if he added his ryou on top of that even if they happened to evade luffys strike they would still take damage considering ryou destroys thing from the inside without requiring any physical contact.
Just FYI, luffy's gear 4th does use haki to achieve that power and bounciness. In chapter 784 doffy says "He's hardening his skin with armament haki and using the tensile force to raise his power several times beyond its limit". So I don't think it would be a stretch to say gear 5 would be king's haki based.

On Sbs6 interview, according to oda, there is no strain happening, when luffy uses his gear 4th, but instead he gets really tired, that's it, and he needs 10 min. For he can able to use his abilities again
1st gear(base), 2nd gear, 3rd gear, 4th gear (current). Next is reverses gear and his awakening form is automatic gear CVT with V8 turbo (can interchange with supercharge).

What if Luffy awakens his devil fruit, and is able to use enhanced armament haki to bounce people around. Able to focus haki into different parts of the environment (able to extend his rubber world to like buildings, the floor, and then also expand his haki to those areas. It would be like trampoline world, able to bounce people, and himself towards and away from himself so he can increase the momentum of both the enemy and himself to make his attacks hit especially hard. It would make his tank gear 4 even stronger by knocking himself around like a bowling ball, his snake g4 to increase speed of his arms, as it bounces from place to place, and increases his bounce man by increases his bounciness around.
Hey you probably won’t see this but what about adding ryou onto the elasticity and speed like attributes of snake man and like you said having the armament haki enveloping his body I would say that the ryou even if he slightly misses every hit they will still feel it even if they avoid a direct hit with observation haki
Don't forget Doggy and Katakuri already produced substances. Hard to say if awakening amplified their production or if awakening for paramecium changes environments.
I feel like he might not strictly need a new gear for Kaido and he could get it later, unless Kaido's awakened form is a really huge buff. Cause we saw normal punches, not even pistol or anything, with Conqueror's Coating seem to be pretty serious hits on Hybrid-Form Kaido, and if that's what baseline conqueror punches do, a Conqueror King Kong Gun must be ludicrously monstrous.

Based on a gear 5 pressure man video and the advanced Conquer's Haki, I think luffy could inflate his body to a massive size, then condense in with Conquer's as we've seen it actually exert a force or pressure and then seal it with armament. Then he would give him powerful attacks like Kong Gun, but stronger and more precise, like Piccolo's special beam cannon
My theory for gear 5th, he stretches his hair around his body so that he looks like super Saipan 4 or Yusuke's Demon form to electrify his body. This appearance would make sense symbolically, as Luffy is based off Sun Wukong, the Monkey King. Just imagine getting hit with a jet pistol at the speed of lightning. Moreover, with the speed of lightning, Luffy will be able to use his future sight to the fullest extent. Moreover, if he awakens his devil fruit to create a rubber world, he could use that to complement his speed by moving around like a pin ball. I also believe that Imu's devil fruit, if he has one, has to be the water fruit, since I find it odd that sea water works against devil fruit users. I think the devil fruits are the souls of the people who lived in the ancient kingdom. And electricity travels through water, so I think it makes sense that Luffy would have a perfect counter to Imu's devil fruit, Imu being a false god, just like he was the perfect counter to Enel, another false god.
I personally think that tank man does have a normal version as it was called 'stuffed version' when Luffy fought Cracker. I personally see it as looking similar to a sumo wrestler:big and bulky, not very mobile or long ranged but very powerful. Snake man focuses on speed and range while Bounce Man is a balance between speed and power. I'm not sure if Luffy will get a gear 5 but he will definitely perfect gear 4. I'm not sure what gear 5 could be but I hope it doesn't render gear 4 seemingly redundant like 2 and 3.
The gears were something to just power him up. Remember even now when he uses gear 2, his lifespan decreases. Now that he’s learning advanced haki of each type, he won’t necessarily need to use gears to keep up with the top dogs do the OP world. In my opinion, the gears will be replaced with his new advanced haki types. Also he has yet to awaken his devil fruit, so future Luffy combat could be something like advanced haki of each type and awakened devil fruit.
I feel like tank man makes up for the digestive system, but I think for whatever his final form is, he uses the neuro system, which doesn't just make him super smart, but as the brain controls everything, he will, like you said, can inflate and buff every system and every gear into one, but by then it would be balanced,, not just a ball of... balloon man.
I really still wanna see the tiger man theory happen, it’d make sense if boundman is attack, snakeman is stretchiness, and tankman is defense, and the speed would allow him to counter Kaido’s Thunder Bagua much more easily and maybe even work around it like how he used snakeman to surprise Katakuri.
I think in his final form Luffy will be able to change the actual properties of his rubber. For example, he may be able to vulcanize his rubber. This way he doesn't have to rely on inflating his body which has shown to be hard on him
My theory on Gear 5th: Instead of inflating his body, he compresses it. Making his muscles tighter and tougher. That would increase speed, durability, and power. Add all advanced Haki on top of that, could be amazing. Side thought on Gear 6th (or call it Overdrive!) Use Gear 5th with Awakening.
👏👏👏 I really like your theory and I would like to add something with some references to other characters and how they fight. Luffy uses his body as his number one weapon and when it turns black, its covered in dark haki, I make a reference to: Mihawk, zoro, gold d Roger and white beard who all cover their weapons in black haki with a red glow and when these weapons clash there is red glow of lightning plus luffy never really uses his sword that often in a fight and I dont think he even knows how to cover it with haki
Awakening is pretty much only potential exponential development left for luffy. we already got all kinds of haki and luffy is going to get better at it with time. luffy is matching kaido blow for blow and he will get better as his haki improves. The bigger question is, do we even need another gear? He is holding his own against kaido in his base form, another gear right now does not seem necessary. but if kaido is still taking it slow, then of course things will change. But if we have a bigger villain in wano than kaido, then things will start looking desperate and we might need a new gear. but right now, awakening is needed coz kaido is gonna drop onigashima on capital.
ive had the idea of a form be it another gear 4 or a gear 5 that luffy would be able to use steam as a weapon like : filing his arm with air and then compresimg it for then to spin his arm like with rifle to create heat witch then helps to impower the steam and then shoot it mabe a nod to Ace or something.

The main drawback gear 4th addresses for Luffy is strength. Doffy pointed out that he was fast enough in gear 2nd, but his punches didn’t pack enough weight. So solution was gear 4th. But now his ability to coat himself in conquerors haki solves the lack of weight behind his hits. He can just stay in gear 2nd and pack more of a punch with conquerors haki than he could with gear 4th. So there’s really no need for a new form. Or rather gear 2nd with conquerors haki is his new form. Next power up for luffy may just be awakening.

I disagree that Haki is just complementary. To be able to use gear fourth you need Haki to (your will) to shape your body in a specific way, and also it increases the tension of the rubber, and allows him to even bounce off the haki attacks and Meito sword like Pretzel.

Luffy gonna get Ultra Instinct, rubber doesn't conduct electricity but you have electricity in your nerves, also luffy somehow learned to conduct electricity in his attacks anyways (thor elephanto gun or how it was called). Maybe he can do something like Killua did in the chimera arc in hunter x hunter where he stopped the dart piercing his forehead by making his nerves react on it's own without Killua needing to react to it himself. But i think that would be something for endgame powerup since Luffy would be basically overpowered already, so i'm thinking Luffy ultra instinct probably gear 6 if there will be a 5 in wano.
I doubt the awakening could change the surroundings coz both Doflamingo and Katakuri can produce as much string/dough as they want to but Luffy can't produce rubber.

Using the gasket properties to the max, hyper pressurized air into his body. So he'll use Earth (rubber) Wind (lightning & air) Fire (red hawk body) Water (?????) Spirit (haki).
Luffy is going to have a “Gear Reverse” where his Rubber Fruit becomes an Eraser and he can Erase whatever he punches…but this is like a Getsuuga Tenshou where he can only use it once and either he dies or he can never use Haki again 🤦🏽♂️😂

rather than inflation, contraption could be possible too, instead of blowing his skin, he could suck it to make him super thin. gear 2 targets muscle/blood, gear third targets bone, luffy could tap into his nervous system, much like jin mori's acupuncture that targets pressure points to break his limiter. What I could see on gear 5th and 6th, is monkey king form and giant form. giant form is basically the complete version of gear 3rd, and monkey king form is the complete version of gear 2nd. gear 4th is a merge of gear 2nd and 3rd, there may be a complete version of gear 4th too. luffy can also be buffed by the strawhats, nami can clad luffy with zeus giving him thor based attacks, robin could give him extra arms, chopper could give him a drug that boosts luffy's power, for the other strawhats idk

What about static electritity? Like twisting his arms, putting his hands caoted in haki together and then un-twisting his arms to charge himself with a huge amount of static electritity by friction. Maybe this form could be the fastes at attacking but not moving, like his limbs will be attracted to his enemies bodies like a balloon stick to someone so he will attack with his hands extended like arrows. In this form he could do stromger fire and lighting attacks. Gomu gomu no rail gun.

Just FYI, luffy's gear 4th does use haki to achieve that power and bounciness. In chapter 784 doffy says "He's hardening his skin with armament haki and using the tensile force to raise his power several times beyond its limit". So I don't think it would be a stretch to say gear 5 would be king's haki based.

I want to see new Gear 4 variation against Kaido and preferrably, a giant one, maybe in the form of an ape or lion. Just curious how Luffy would look like if he is as big as Kaido or Big Mom. He doesn't need to make his fists bigger cos his whole body is already big enough to throw that punch in.
Luffy's haki in itself is rubbery, He can slow down impacts, use it almost whip-like etc.
What if Luffy awakens his devil fruit, and is able to use enhanced armament haki to bounce people around. Able to focus haki into different parts of the environment (able to extend his rubber world to like buildings, the floor, and then also expand his haki to those areas. It would be like trampoline world, able to bounce people, and himself towards and away from himself so he can increase the momentum of both the enemy and himself to make his attacks hit especially hard. It would make his tank gear 4 even stronger by knocking himself around like a bowling ball, his snake g4 to increase speed of his arms, as it bounces from place to place, and increases his bounce man by increases his bounciness around.
Hey you probably won’t see this but what about adding ryou onto the elasticity and speed like attributes of snake man and like you said having the armament haki enveloping his body I would say that the ryou even if he slightly misses every hit they will still feel it even if they avoid a direct hit with observation haki

Don't forget Doggy and Katakuri already produced substances. Hard to say if awakening amplified their production or if awakening for paramecium changes environments.
I feel like he might not strictly need a new gear for Kaido and he could get it later, unless Kaido's awakened form is a really huge buff. Cause we saw normal punches, not even pistol or anything, with Conqueror's Coating seem to be pretty serious hits on Hybrid-Form Kaido, and if that's what baseline conqueror punches do, a Conqueror King Kong Gun must be ludicrously monstrous.

Based on a gear 5 pressure man video and the advanced Conquer's Haki, I think luffy could inflate his body to a massive size, then condense in with Conquer's as we've seen it actually exert a force or pressure and then seal it with armament. Then he would give him powerful attacks like Kong Gun, but stronger and more precise, like Piccolo's special beam cannon

My theory for gear 5th, he stretches his hair around his body so that he looks like super Saipan 4 or Yusuke's Demon form to electrify his body. This appearance would make sense symbolically, as Luffy is based off Sun Wukong, the Monkey King. Just imagine getting hit with a jet pistol at the speed of lightning. Moreover, with the speed of lightning, Luffy will be able to use his future sight to the fullest extent. Moreover, if he awakens his devil fruit to create a rubber world, he could use that to complement his speed by moving around like a pin ball. I also believe that Imu's devil fruit, if he has one, has to be the water fruit, since I find it odd that sea water works against devil fruit users. I think the devil fruits are the souls of the people who lived in the ancient kingdom. And electricity travels through water, so I think it makes sense that Luffy would have a perfect counter to Imu's devil fruit, Imu being a false god, just like he was the perfect counter to Enel, another false god.

I personally think that tank man does have a normal version as it was called 'stuffed version' when Luffy fought Cracker. I personally see it as looking similar to a sumo wrestler:big and bulky, not very mobile or long ranged but very powerful. Snake man focuses on speed and range while Bounce Man is a balance between speed and power. I'm not sure if Luffy will get a gear 5 but he will definitely perfect gear 4. I'm not sure what gear 5 could be but I hope it doesn't render gear 4 seemingly redundant like 2 and 3.
I think Luffy's final form will be 7th Gear...5th for Kaido , 6th for Blackbeard and 7th for World Government..
The gears were something to just power him up. Remember even now when he uses gear 2, his lifespan decreases. Now that he’s learning advanced haki of each type, he won’t necessarily need to use gears to keep up with the top dogs do the OP world. In my opinion, the gears will be replaced with his new advanced haki types. Also he has yet to awaken his devil fruit, so future Luffy combat could be something like advanced haki of each type and awakened devil fruit.

I feel like tank man makes up for the digestive system, but I think for whatever his final form is, he uses the neuro system, which doesn't just make him super smart, but as the brain controls everything, he will, like you said, can inflate and buff every system and every gear into one, but by then it would be balanced,, not just a ball of... balloon man.

I really still wanna see the tiger man theory happen, it’d make sense if boundman is attack, snakeman is stretchiness, and tankman is defense, and the speed would allow him to counter Kaido’s Thunder Bagua much more easily and maybe even work around it like how he used snakeman to surprise Katakuri.

I think in his final form Luffy will be able to change the actual properties of his rubber. For example, he may be able to vulcanize his rubber. This way he doesn't have to rely on inflating his body which has shown to be hard on him
My theory on Gear 5th: Instead of inflating his body, he compresses it. Making his muscles tighter and tougher. That would increase speed, durability, and power. Add all advanced Haki on top of that, could be amazing. Side thought on Gear 6th (or call it Overdrive!) Use Gear 5th with Awakening.
👏👏👏 I really like your theory and I would like to add something with some references to other characters and how they fight. Luffy uses his body as his number one weapon and when it turns black, its covered in dark haki, I make a reference to: Mihawk, zoro, gold d Roger and white beard who all cover their weapons in black haki with a red glow and when these weapons clash there is red glow of lightning plus luffy never really uses his sword that often in a fight and I dont think he even knows how to cover it with haki
But I would like to see him do that because to me that will show how much he has mastered haki
Gear 4ths base is armament used to its limits he uses whole lot of his reservoir and now the base actually could be gear 4ths base
His base form is whooping Kaido.... He doesn’t need a new form just keep progressing his haki. He still needs to learn awakening as well.
Awakening is pretty much only potential exponential development left for luffy.
we already got all kinds of haki and luffy is going to get better at it with time. luffy is matching kaido blow for blow and he will get better as his haki improves.
The bigger question is, do we even need another gear? He is holding his own against kaido in his base form, another gear right now does not seem necessary. but if kaido is still taking it slow, then of course things will change.
But if we have a bigger villain in wano than kaido, then things will start looking desperate and we might need a new gear. but right now, awakening is needed coz kaido is gonna drop onigashima on capital.
ive had the idea of a form be it another gear 4 or a gear 5 that luffy would be able to use steam as a weapon like : filing his arm with air and then compresimg it for then to spin his arm like with rifle to create heat witch then helps to impower the steam and then shoot it mabe a nod to Ace or something.

The main drawback gear 4th addresses for Luffy is strength. Doffy pointed out that he was fast enough in gear 2nd, but his punches didn’t pack enough weight. So solution was gear 4th.
But now his ability to coat himself in conquerors haki solves the lack of weight behind his hits. He can just stay in gear 2nd and pack more of a punch with conquerors haki than he could with gear 4th. So there’s really no need for a new form. Or rather gear 2nd with conquerors haki is his new form.
Next power up for luffy may just be awakening.

I disagree that Haki is just complementary. To be able to use gear fourth you need Haki to (your will) to shape your body in a specific way, and also it increases the tension of the rubber, and allows him to even bounce off the haki attacks and Meito sword like Pretzel.

Luffy gonna get Ultra Instinct, rubber doesn't conduct electricity but you have electricity in your nerves, also luffy somehow learned to conduct electricity in his attacks anyways (thor elephanto gun or how it was called). Maybe he can do something like Killua did in the chimera arc in hunter x hunter where he stopped the dart piercing his forehead by making his nerves react on it's own without Killua needing to react to it himself. But i think that would be something for endgame powerup since Luffy would be basically overpowered already, so i'm thinking Luffy ultra instinct probably gear 6 if there will be a 5 in wano.

Luffy is going to have a “Gear Reverse” where his Rubber Fruit becomes an Eraser and he can Erase whatever he punches…but this is like a Getsuuga Tenshou where he can only use it once and either he dies or he can never use Haki again 🤦🏽♂️😂
