I ride my Ultra Bee and Storm Bee thoughout the winter in Mongolia. I've ridden down to -23C but usually around -10C to -15C (afternoon high temps). I noticed range loss at -23C but not lower. However, I ride around my home in the mountains and most of my rides are in the 30-60 minute range. Probably 10-15km max distance but I don't pay attention to distance off road. I'm more paying attention to time and how much fun I'm having. I'm usually done before the bike is because riding in snow is quite physical.
I think you could add some insulation to the battery and BMS to negate range loss if you cared enough. There are mylar backed sheet insulation products which could make a wrap around blanket.

There is more than one temperature to take in consideration. The temps inside the battery, the temps outside and the one that it's created going fast throught the air. There is the heat the battery itself created and in my case, my battery and my controller, that create heat as well are in the same closed compartment. It was 21F/-6C yesterday and I didn't see significant lost of range.

Windchill as it's called is more dangerous than raw temperature. Anyone that rides bikes fast even in regular 15-20c temps will know the faster you go, the colder it is

@@Cosmitzian Exactly! I was talking to a guy who pretended that he had a Harley. It was I think 17c outside. He asked me "is it not too warm with your jacket on?" I told him, you would of know that riding a bike it's always 5c to 15c degrees colder when you go throught the air at fast speed. He told me that he didn't know.
      I knew he was lying.

@@Cosmitzian im new to Colorado and have heard that the thinner air has less particles per inch so radiators (or the effect) work less efficient. So, at higher altitudes I’m assuming wind chill is less of a factor due to thinner air. I don’t know how much less as it’s probably not proportional to the oxygen loss but who knows.

30 to 40% range hit was what i've always seen on the onewheels when it's really cold out. haven't taken the ultra out in the snow yet but had assumed the same.
*charging your battery when freezing is not good, it will damage the battery. it will charge, slower, but yeah, will also damage it, so don't do that. the battery is removable, bring it inside.

i store my talaria sting battery inside and also charge it there. At 0°C = 32 Fahrenheit, my range is basically halfed. 10% battery tracks now take 20% and maybe even more. I am shocked and will check in warmer temperatures if the battery might be broken. The bike is not even a year old.

If the bike was stored inside where its warmer the battery might have started out warm and cooled off significantly throughout the ride.

range should be the same for electric motorcycle, just store battery and charge in heated garage.
Range lost for cars only ba the heating the cabin.
For bikes we get no range lost at winter, I ride Zeros, and charge slowly at heated garage.
