  • In this video I make a quick Akai Force Beat (amzn.to/2ULFEeu) with the MPC Expansions - Raw Cratez. I show you every step of how I make this beat starting with a completely blank project. I load drum program tracks, keygroup program tracks, and even load a sample loop into an audio track.

      What can this do that an MPC can't? Can you achieve the same results with an MPC live?

    I think this demonstration is exactly how much Akai had in mind for the Force. The rest of its development will be off the cuff and reactionary.

    Great video Matthew! Super jealous of the lovely dark UI on the Force...the Live needs some of its theme and features 👍

      Matthew Stratton They sure are! I’ve connected an Access Virus C, Korg MS-2000 and Novation circuit to them via midi and use a pioneer dj mixer for hooking everything up. Just started to film this and put it onto youtube. Your videos look alot better but am learning!

      Do you mean install the expansion? If you know where your expansions are located on you computer you can find them and drag them into a folder on a SD card or USB drive in a folder called Expansions. For more information check the FAQ about MPC expansions: inmusicbrands.force.com/akaipro/s/article/Akai-Pro-MPC-2-0-How-to-Install-and-Use-MPC-Expansions#SAMPLE

      Yes it works with any expansion. If you want to use it for your own just name your samples to match the short cuts shown in the quick search.

    Thank you for the force vids! I am a new user just getting into abbleton and went with the force over a push 2. I am a guitar player and enjoy the massive looping potential. (ie Paul Davids on UA-cam) Paul uses a push 2. Wound you consider future videos dedicated to using the force in this way? Ultimately, I am hoping for complete abbleton compatibility and to get good with this format so as to go live with JUST the Force.

    • @MatthewStratton
      @MatthewStratton  5 років тому

      Just looked Paul Davids up. Yeah I will eventually do videos like that. A major shortcoming of the Force at the moment is that users cannot trigger clips with a foot pedal like in ableton live (as far as I can tell). Hopefully this will change with an update. Also, the next update should be able to link the force into ableton live from what I understand. And it should have an option to export ableton projects.

      You can pretty much dobthe same thing on either as far as the final outcome. The workflow is different. If you are wanting to lazy chop samples and use the pads as you are sampling, MPC X 💯

    Matthew - How do I install a MPC Expansion to my Force? I don't have an MPC device or the software. When I installed the expansion on my Mac, it didn't install a standalone version. Thanks.

    • @MatthewStratton
      @MatthewStratton  4 роки тому

      You can always use the expansion manager in the free MPC Beats software. Or find the expansion libraries in the folder and put them on a SD card manually...you can find the directory on Akai Pro website with a quick Google search.

    Quick question are you able to shed any light on the particulars as to why the MPC 2 software does not recogniz the force as an external drive I just dumped money on a upgraded drive and everything else and expansions and my force is not being recognized by the MPC software on the laptop

    • @MatthewStratton
      @MatthewStratton  5 років тому

      You will not be able to access the force's internal drive with a computer. You can access any SD cards, USB drives, or SSDs if they are properly formatted. If you have a SSD you need to format it.

    • @MatthewStratton
      @MatthewStratton  5 років тому

      I show how to format it with windows in this video: ua-cam.com/video/TTiACxsY1N4/v-deo.html This video is for MPC LIVE, but I believe the process should be the same. Akai recommends formatting EXFAT because it is compatible with MAC and Windows.

    at 3:02 when you are looking at the expansions. At the end of the mulitple views (or directory filter) there is an icon with a slash through it. When I press it the lash comes on and off. What is that doing? Ive been wondering since I started using the MPC Touch.

    • @MatthewStratton
      @MatthewStratton  5 років тому +2

      If you go to a folder that has projects saved onto it and press it, it will show the [projectdata] folder. In the MPC the project data folder contains all the sequences, programs, audio samples, ect specific to the project. The Force has a similar [projectdata] folder for each project as well. So if you want to pull a sample from any project you can pull it out of that folder if you want.
