I don’t think there’s a better dnb producer teacher on UA-cam! I can’t believe you’re giving this information out for free haha, thank you so much, unreal channel and great teacher
I have to say I like them both! My OG comment was on the Ragga one but maybe just do a VIP foghorn for a later release? I know I would rinse both out daily :P
Did you used sidechain kick and bass ? in the final track? I just don t know if it s normaly using sidechain kick on bass in this type off music ( I mean DnB minimal neuro, DnB foghorn, DnB jungle ) btw awesome video !
Just stumbled upon your channel and I am so happy I'm subscribed now. Thanks for the headsup on free plugins. Also really enjoy this video. Been trying to create some ragga for a while. Hoping this helps
i havent even watched the whole video yet but your intros really put a smile on my face, great effort dude and love the channel very inspiring, top notch production!
the intro tune, would be a great tune! Today I saw for the very first time your video and I can't stop doing it! gzz... You smashin it! Thank you mastah!
Big Up Stranjah! Miss the days of raiding the local stores for those congo natty white labels; Original Fever & Wardance were my jams, then big into the Krinjah and his mad mashups too. Twinhooker, Debaser, General Malice all be dropping dope too.
Gotta day, I enjoyed them both. I think the world needs more dnb that’s willing to switch and blend. That’s what made some of the 90’s stuff so interesting. One major thing this vid has showed me is that I’m putting the cart in front of the horse when working and ending up with ideas that could be musical, if I focused on arrangement and musicality first. So back to the drawing board for me. And woot for the plug ins and loops!
I lean more towards the 'Ragga' section. Rebel MC 'Wickedest Sound' and the Ragga Twins are real musical touchstones for me and sum up much of my musical tastes. Favourite ragga jungle? Does Leviticus 'Burial' count? If not something like Serial Killax 'Killa Klash' is badass. Also can't forget DJ SS's remix of Cutty Ranks 'Limb By Limb' - shout going out to the Craggy Island massive. Bo! :D :D :D
Amazing video. Thank you for this content, so good to see the different types of dnb getting a open view on how it’s all made. Those foghorns are lovely btw.
Both sections are good although if I had to choose between the two I'd probably lean towards the foghorn section. In saying that, the two sections do work well together as that unexpected change at the foghorn drop really keeps things interesting.
Superb Tutorial as always, really starting to get to grips with Jungle and D&B thanks to your tutorials. The free Stay Inspired Vocal Pack link isn't working, any idea if it's still available as I've not managed to find it?
I'm new to your channel and enjoying what you do and how you do it. Im not sure this'd be your thing but Id love to watch an 'old school industrial' tutorial. Front 242, Ministry, Nitzer Ebb, Skinny Puppy, etc.
Damn that’s a beautiful track. I wanna hear that classic dancehall intro for this… vocal MC intro echoed out some other hype vocal & a reggae horn…. Drop in. I mean do what ya want 😉 “in da house it’s deejay Stranger “ “woop woop (hype vocal) (dub siren) (more hype) drop in.
Would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see a video focused on remixing - would be even cooler if it was done with some of stems Baauer shared from his recent album (i can send em if you want them, Planets mad, Magic, reachupdontstop). I seem to really struggle with doing remixes - especially keeping the vibe of the OG song while adding my own flair. I either feel like i do too much and the song doesnt resemble the original, or not enough and its more of a simple edit. Plz help stranjah!
I like that you combined both styles. Ragga Jungle was the first stuff I would hear at parties and on Souljah Sessions Radio out of KW. I hadn't heard a lot of it until discovering the Jungle Cakes stuff. This makes me think it would be a good anthem to be played at Boomtown in the UK. More hybrid songs please. Keeps this ADD mind of mine interested. Could you ask your fans what hybrid genres you can create next. I would nominate 1950's juke box culture with jump up. They share a common swing. I want to hear DnB my grandma would be proud of. Could you do a hypothetical time travel series where you imagine what DnB would sound like in each decade and use samples from those decades and production techniques. The New York compression is on tonnes of great old records. Glad you pointed to how effective this technique can be. It was nice that you went extreme, then dialled it back to sit well in the mix.
That's a great idea Nathan. A friend of mine actually wanted to do a collab with me turning some juke box music to jump-up. Will see. The only thing about this is that there may be copyright issues while doing such a remix on UA-cam. I'll have to see if there are any old songs out there that allow fair use.
