You should definitely use the ALBRIGHT knot. I found the grinner slipped through.

Try the ALBRIGHT knot. Amazing for mono to mono, or mono to braid.

Ha ha with my eyesight it may not be thick enough but I've got some chain link fencing out the back.@@Anglingaddict75

I’ve used this knot for years, solid knot never let me Down ever. Also braid line off the beach doesn’t perform as well as mono, which is far superior in my opinion of course

Absolutely agree 100% with mono, I'll be switching back real soon!

I’m totally with you, just started using braid for beach casting and I don’t know if I like it.. really hard work, holding bottom is a pain and it’s just a whole new experience I was expecting it to be more satisfying haha I’m not sold on it myself

I am 100% with you on mono for beach casting. I think braid is too fragile to cope with the abrasions of rubbing against sand and rocks etc. It may be good for a couple of sessions, but I don't think it has the durability of mono. All you need is for that one specimen fish to rub the line against some rocks and you are more likely to lose it. Secondly, is that extra distance you get casting with braid really worth the risk of losing a fish. Lure fishing as you say, a definite yes to braid. Thanks for the video. One question, when tying the braid to the lead link/swivel, did you go through the eye with the line twice before tying the knot?👍

Agreed, I will be going back to mono for sure!
And yes, when tying the lead link/swivel go through the eye twice 👍
      Thanks for watching bud!

Just ordered myself some new mono and new reels. I’ve gone for 18lb suffix tritanium for main line and asso protector tapered leaders. Not confident enough to use braid on the beach gear. I think for durability reasons I would end up using higher weight rated braid as thick as the lower weight rated mono anyway

What braid do you use on your lure reel? I've just loaded my reel with spiderwire, never used it before. Do you have any experience with spiderwire? Just wanted to know if its any good or not.
    Great vid by the way.

On my lure.reel I use Berkley whiplash 24lb.
I have ALL of my LRF rods spooled with spider wire. It's a good brand!!

The grinner and the uni knot are the same I believe, it's just what Pepe are used to calling it I suppose.

Braid YUK. Give me mono any day of the week.

that is a uni knot not a grinner, a uni knot will slip, the albright is the best knot for joining thick mono to braid
