WHILE WATCHING THIS VIDEO, my garden center called and said they could fill my land and sea order next Saturday. Before we hung up, he said ‘can I ask you something? This is your second year ordering and someone came in with their little piece of paper 20 minutes after I talked to you asking for the same thing. Where are you hearing about this product?’ My reply: Laura on Garden Answer/YT of course! Sounds like he’s going to start ordering more. LOL (We’re in northern Indiana.)
Love the shared commentary in these recaps! A favorite memory of my oldest son at 2yrs old: he came to me when I was busy with a project and asked to play with his cat pool. Me: your what? Son: “my CAT pool!” Giving up I asked him to show me, so he took my hand and led me out to the side yard where his new ‘kiddy pool’ was. Lightbulb moment when I realized he was clever enough to figure out ‘kitty pool’ meant Cat - funny memory and so cute.

I absolutely loved your conversation with Aaron about the cost of the David Austin rose in Seattle. It was remarkable to hear you share an ethical value about charging people for plants. You are both very wonderful souls. Then you just chit chat about the cat and his spraying behavior. So very honest and human
We just got our first Hoselink. Omgosh! wish I had listened to you a few years ago…game changer for sure. We will be purchasing several more for our 5 acres.
Hello out ther from Washington. I got to go to your parents store. And met your parents. Such lovely people and all the employees were very friendly. I dropped off some fresh fruit from arizona I hope you and your family got to have some. Thankyou for all you do
The lovely little building you have added to your collection of structures, why not just call it the Garden House. I look forward to see what you are up to each morning with my coffee and my 61 pound lap boxer. You inspire all ages. And that includes me at 73 to plant up different pots for my back deck last summer. And yes I packed them full. Added a battery operated birdbath which attracted so many birds. Thank you
I just absolutely love you guys and your relationship! Aaron makes me laugh with his descriptions of what you may be thinking on a project. You guys are precious!🙏🏻❤️
I love your story about nighttime prayers with Benjamin. When our daughter was young, I was cooking in the kitchen and she was practicing her Bible verse pray without ceasing except she said pray without kissing LOL. I have that jotted down in the side of my cookbook and it is such a treasure.
You are so smart to write down the little cute things your kids say. One of my daughters saw the world in such a different way than most, when she was little. The things she said were so cute, I didn’t think I’d ever forget them but I did. Now I only remember two. Once when she saw me trimming the fat off a steak before cooking, she wanted to know why I was peeling the steak. Another time as she watched me unload the groceries and throw away that long receipt, she advised me that if I would stop throwing the receipt away, they would not have to give me a new one everytime I bought groceries! …….oh if only….
Your Cutting Shed may have been the original idea but it looks like it is becoming a beautiful fruit and flower ‘Cottage’ soon. Everything is coming along beautifully! Can’t wait to see this years growth and harvest. Thank you both so much for sharing.
how about the Flower Cottage.....since you know you will be doing so many different things in the "Cottage" with flowers and such. :-) Love it all Stay safe
Red your comment about new owners changing the gardens. We recently sold a house that I had gardened in for 30 years. Before moving I had purposely not removed all the plants to bring them to my new home, because I thought it would be selfish. Imagine my surprise 😿 when the new owners ripped out everything. And I mean everything. It now looks like a house in a new subdivision with no foundation plantings and a lone tree in the middle of the front yard. 🏠 I’m glad I decided to bring my grandma’s peony with me.
I just saw a peony plant for the first time last week. My granddaughter and I had gone to a nursery to look for bio tone. (Of course didn't find it in california.)When I saw the peony it was a beautiful pink large flower. I can't stop thinking about it. May have to go back and buy that one.
How devastating! I’ve already advised my family that if we ever move houses, I’m taking as much of my garden with me as possible because so many house nowadays are knockdown and rebuilds with three houses on the original block.
Thank you both for being you. Once again you’ve brought joy and inspiration to my morning. ☀️ I love how you balance each other out beautifully. Grateful for your goodness, knowledge and wisdom. And Laura - love all the cute ice cubes in that glass!🧊🌱🌿🌳💖🕊
I agree with Carolina Girl. I start my days watching your videos. They give me so much peace and I garden virtually through your videos. We live in a semi-wooded area and I have very few flower gardens. Most of my flowers are in containers so I get ideas from your videos for those.
I would love love love to see a video of before and afters in your garden! If you could compile something using existing footage from videos past that would be amazing but even if you started now down in the new property, it’s going to change so much and it will be so cool to see! I sometimes go back to old videos to try to see the changes and I was looking back at the old blue barn, potting shed with the big mound next to it where the chickens are now and it’s just amazing and inspirational! 😍
Laura, I just to thank you for your videos, it so nice to come on here and watch you guys. its like a little getaway from all the thing happening in the world. Thank you again.
High cost of roses in Seattle may be based on rising cost of doing business--rent, property/business taxes, licenses, utilities, salaries, etc. Everything is going up! We own rental property and our cost of doing business has gone up astronomically in the last 2 years.
I enjoy all the videos! The different styles you do really appeal to me! I have learned a lot from the “list” videos. I have even taken notes and jotted down all the plants Laura mentions for best perennials for full sun, evergreens that every garden should have etc… i have bought seeds that Laura has recommended, I bought large embroidery hoops from a thrift store and the supplies to make that obelisk that Laura made. The pot recipes that Laura or even the ones viewers have sent in have been so helpful and interesting. I enjoy Laura just walking around with a camera talking about what is going on in each bed. Laura and Aaron are such gracious people, and don’t we all want Laura’s Mom for a friend? It’s all great! 💐
Also, I agree about the pricing differences depending heavily on the area... Sometimes it is just greed. But in a place where the cost of living is higher, in general (for whatever reason 🤷🏾♀️), businesses have a higher overhead cost as well, and their pricing has to cover that in addition to the cost of the item.
As always I love your recap videos. Getting a chance to go back and see a video snippet that you may have missed, and then going back to catch up on missed videos is a joy. 😊
When we moved into my in-laws house, I had my mother-in-law point out the plants that were important to her. Some came from cuttings given by her mother. I have worked around those plants. It was a small thing we could do to reduce the grief of moving from their home of over fifty years.
Thank you Aaron for stressing if you consider yourself to not be strong, the auger isn’t for you. I have used our 9” & 1/2 stud drill many times along with my husband. Long story short, he was out of town and I had a lot of shrubs and perennials to plant last fall. I hit a tree root even with myself braced, it kicked and I immediately let go. Broken hand and casted for 4 weeks. Removed cast & surgery needed….a re-brake of the fracture, a plate & 9 screws later, all is healed. I consider myself active. It’s a great implement for the garden, just keep stressing to be careful & know the area you are using an auger, rocks, clay, roots, etc!
Sorry. I had to have a small auger for easy planting. My husband surprised me with a 2 or 3 inch by 24 inch from home depot. It fits in my dewalt or Makita drill. Well I didn't hold tight and it kicked back and hit the outside of my left ankle. Thank goodness I had on my old uggs. Don't know if it was broken but I hobbled around for at least 6 or 7 weeks. I'm back to planting as everything is starting to come out for early spring in LA Mesa, Ca.
@@pattiethompson9154 so glad to hear your doing better and back in the garden. I just planted 16 perennials & shrubs yesterday. Once again husband was out of town (now I’m seeing a pattern 🤔!) I go shopping an need to get my plants in the ground😉, but I went back to my faithful shovel.
There's so much about this video that i loved. My favorite part was seeing your baby girl, Samantha. What i love most about all your videos is how real and down to earth you and Aaron are. You're both so relatable! Good to know Aaron keeps you focused with the questions, because occasionally i get a kick at how you wonder or get off focus or distracted, so thanks Aaron! 😅❤
The photo record is such a great idea. I have a daylily just now coming back for this new season and I have no idea what color it is. I looked back at last years photos and I have none that includes that lily in bloom. So I have a surprise coming.
I live in Illinois and must send to Pennsylvania for my Espoma Land and Sea. I've always laughed at the possibility of a porch pirate stealing my delivery boxes to find out its just dirt. Lol.
So enjoy the recap videos and the interaction between you and Aaron. You put a smile on my face. I would love some fruit trees but we have bears in our area and the neighbours had a mama bear and cubs climb their pear tree to get the fruit. 😱 All your projects are coming along beautifully.
I have a diary I keep for my granddaughter and I have written her cute words and phrases in that. Kids are so cute. I wait all week for the recap videos. ( I love them all, mind you). Recaps on Sunday morning are my favorite. 🥰💚💚💚
When we were little, my 3 siblings and I started calling the paper tube inside toilet paper rolls a “der-der”. We thought that was what everyone called them. When we grew older we asked our parents why they were called that. That’s when they told us it was because one of us had coined that word because when you put the tube to your mouth you shout “der - der“ into it. Funnily enuf tho, recently I saw someone on the internet in Arizona, calling them der-ders too!
Always love to watch you and Aaron discuss stuff. Love your videos, always so cheerful and never ever boring. Love to see Little cute Benjamin and cute sweet baby Samantha 💙😊❤️
I get up every morning and get my coffee. Then I let my lab outside. We then snuggle on the couch and watch your daily video. Thank you for making my day!
I think you’re a great teacher (team) I watch some others and have thought many times when they leave info out, etc. Laura would have included more info 😊. I compare all of them to you and all fall short, or their egos are annoying or etc. You are so natural and real, it’s a pleasure to watch you. Thank you. ❤️❤️❤️
I love your weekly recaps. So much good information and going over what you have done throughout the week. Honestly if you just had an hour long video of watering plants I would love every minute of it. Can’t get enough of Laura and all her knowledge! Have a great week😄.
I laughed when you were referring to your conversations with your mom. My sister and I love to do construction things and we can literally finish each other’s sentences! It’s really kind of fun because our other 2 siblings look at us like we are crazy. That really makes it fun! Unfortunately my mom no longer has any memory left. Be glad you have the time with your mom! She’s a hoot! And btw….I had 2 trees removed and had no guilt! They are those horrible sweet gum trees! I actually had a maniacal laugh as those trees came down! Why anyone would want one of those trees is beyond me!
I feel your pain - I have 3 sweet gum trees in my front yard and have long thought that whoever planted them must be a cruel person. I have wanted to cry sometimes upon seeing the mess those gum balls make. This spring I am experimenting upon using the gum balls as mulch in certain areas. Congrats on the demise of your sweet gum trees!
@@cynthiafisher9907 … those balls are hard and spikey and they clutter up the yard and make a huge mess! I guarantee you would hate them if they were in your yard. They ruin the grass and are so much work to clean them up!
It’s so exciting thinking about all that is going to take place.. I remember when winter started thinking “dang! I want spring here now so I can see all of the south gardens plantings come alive!” And really, it hasn’t taken long at all… this is going to be a great year! Just don’t forget the before & after’s!! lol 😊♥️
Finally!!!! thank you thank you, I looked up the sound of a katydid and the mystery is solved. I have wondered for years what the sound was in the evening.
Thank you all that you both share! It inspires many of us. I think here in West Texas we are fixing to skip Spring. Thanks again! Have a beautiful week!
The question about the land and sea compost is interesting. Compost comes in many types shrimp, cow, sheep etc. Just mix them or use them individually. They are available everywhere.
Right? Land and Sea isn’t magic; it’s compost with, essentially, fish meal mixed in. I really wish that would be addressed. New gardeners don’t know what they don’t know, and think they must do exactly what Laura does to have success.
@@GardenKath It's a lot more work and time and room to research and source individual components, mix it oneself, then evaluate quality than to get something ready-made that you know has a proven record. I'm still looking for a good product/mix to use. I thought I'd hit the jackpot with a product that has a mix of compost & forest debris and some other goodies but it turned out to also be full of plastic bits (I think from compost derived from municipal green bin collection). Just terrible. I wish I could just order some Land & Sea and be done with it, but it isn't available here in Canada. My search continues. (I just saw the comment from Angel Engler below who says the price for L&S is $30/cubic foot. There's no way I could afford to pay that kind of price even if it were available here.)
@@Ibis333 It definitely is more work, and learning the science behind gardening isn’t for everyone. I just think it’d be good for people to know that the “why” of things, so they can research for themselves, if they’d like.
@@Ibis333 I hit enter too soon. 🙂 I like Organic Mechanics soil products and amendments, and Burpee has a surprisingly good selection too. Regarding the wood chunks and plastic, I know that the huge upsurge in new gardeners over the last few years really made companies scramble to meet the demand. Hopefully, quality will go back up as things level out.
I hope greenhouses in Seattle charge so much for their plants so their employees can earn a living wage. Wishful thinking, but I hope our friends working in nurseries around the country are earning enough to take care of themselves and their families ❤️
$90 for a David Austin rose? I bought mine from DA direct in the U.K. and the bare root were £19 ($22) each and the potted ones were £25 ($30). $90 is daylight robbery! They’re nice roses, but 😱

Just for you to known that we live in FL and had to order the Land N Sea on Amazon. Also I want to say I love your videos. I look forward to watching them every day! I am 72 and have learned so much from you both. Laura you have inspired me to get outside more and enjoy gardening! I feel by doing so has helped me physically and helped me keep my diabetes in check… Thank you 😊
Thank goodness for your videos. Woke up to snow this morning and the only thing keeping me sane are your videos! I’m trying to be patient but it’s getting harder and harder. It has been such a cold couple of months. At least watching you in your garden I can hold out some hope lol 😂 thanks for that❣️
I absolutely loved your conversation with Aaron about the cost of the David Austin rose in Seattle. It was remarkable to hear you share an ethical value about charging people for plants. You are both very wonderful souls. Then you just chit chat about the cat and his spraying behavior. So very honest and human
The west side garden is honestly my favorite part of your entire space. I just love it and it makes me teary 🥲 🤣
lol, when I saw the Christmas lights on the trees they planted in the south garden- i started to cry.. lol.
Thankyou for all you do
🙏🏼♥️
It was lovely to reminisce about sweet Dexter ! I think i started watching your videos a few month before he passed 🤔 ? Brings back memories !
Love, love, love "kids' language"! Our daughter called fruit cocktail fruit "cottontail" when she was young...so,so,cute!
Such positive energy always...adds a ray of daily sunshine even when I am stuck inside my windowless office dreaming of my garden!!!
Thank you
Love Aaron in the video. Y'all are so good together!
May have to go back and buy that one.
lurk 1953 Aww, thats so sad! I’m sorry.
How devastating! I’ve already advised my family that if we ever move houses, I’m taking as much of my garden with me as possible because so many house nowadays are knockdown and rebuilds with three houses on the original block.
Yes please! More "before and after" photos of your lovely space!
We bought a brand new home and it’s exciting to start with a blank canvas. Now we get to make it our own.
💕🌹💕
Thank you both for being you. Once again you’ve brought joy and inspiration to my morning. ☀️ I love how you balance each other out beautifully. Grateful for your goodness, knowledge and wisdom. And Laura - love all the cute ice cubes in that glass!🧊🌱🌿🌳💖🕊
Lol... Aaron's positive attitude "With the right tool, we can do anything." (whole rose root balls).
Great recap. Have a Blessed Day 😊🐈
I like the husband and wife interaction and brain storming vlog...
I agree with Carolina Girl. I start my days watching your videos. They give me so much peace and I garden virtually through your videos. We live in a semi-wooded area and I have very few flower gardens. Most of my flowers are in containers so I get ideas from your videos for those.
Fun recap. Always enjoy these. Can't wait for the tree planting video.
I was thinking that, too.
You are keeping me company while I prep food for after church. Thanks Garden Answer! Have a lovely day :).
I love seeing the progress you have made with all the beautiful new beds. It's really inspiring.
I enjoyed the recap!!
Thanks for that ... it's really nice to have a refresh of the previous week AND to hear the Q&A!!!
You two are wonderful compliments to each other. Love it.
So sorry you were injured. Take care.
Good morning all have a safe and blessed day
The photo record is such a great idea. I have a daylily just now coming back for this new season and I have no idea what color it is. I looked back at last years photos and I have none that includes that lily in bloom. So I have a surprise coming.
At the very end, it’s so nice to learn that Laura is like the rest of us as impatient gardeners. I want it to just be grown and pretty!
I live in Illinois and must send to Pennsylvania for my Espoma Land and Sea.
I've always laughed at the possibility of a porch pirate stealing my delivery boxes to find out its just dirt. Lol.
Good morning! Enjoying a quiet morning, NY 5a its snowing 🙄👎 watching Laura having some coffee. Thanks you 2❤️
Does anyone else feel like this episode was EXACTLY what they needed to hear today?
Even though we don't miss an episode, we love the weekend recaps 🙂
Always love to watch you and Aaron discuss stuff. Love your videos, always so cheerful and never ever boring. Love to see Little cute Benjamin and cute sweet baby Samantha 💙😊❤️
Russell is the perennial Quality Control Officer. LOL! Love your channel. Cheers!
Bless your heart sweet lady. You are an amazing organic teacher! Don’t ever doubt yourself. Thank you to you and Aaron for all you do!
I get up every morning and get my coffee. Then I let my lab outside. We then snuggle on the couch and watch your daily video. Thank you for making my day!
Hi Amy how're you doing today?
I think it would be neat to tour the old owners new garden.
A big problem in my yard with fruit trees in the lawn is bees, wasps & yellow jackets drawn to dropped fruit.
I so agree. Laura has taught me so much...
I think they’re cool trees, love the shape of the leaves and the balls are pretty. I don’t have one, though, so maybe I would hate them if I did.
@@cynthiafisher9907 … those balls are hard and spikey and they clutter up the yard and make a huge mess! I guarantee you would hate them if they were in your yard. They ruin the grass and are so much work to clean them up!
@@nallen1833 …thanks! I hope you can find a way to deal with them! Absolutely enjoy my yard now that they are gone! Worst tree EVER!
@@NursemomB853 Yes, I know exactly what they look like. There is a sweet gum tree around the corner from my house.
I got a lot of joy watching my neighbors property line walnut trees come down. Them things are messy not going to miss them at all.
Hi Peggy how're you doing today?
It’s so exciting thinking about all that is going to take place.. I remember when winter started thinking “dang! I want spring here now so I can see all of the south gardens plantings come alive!” And really, it hasn’t taken long at all… this is going to be a great year! Just don’t forget the before & after’s!! lol 😊♥️
Finally!!!! thank you thank you, I looked up the sound of a katydid and the mystery is solved. I have wondered for years what the sound was in the evening.
This was great for a Sunday morning tea. Thank you
Thank you all that you both share! It inspires many of us.
I think here in West Texas we are fixing to skip Spring. Thanks again! Have a beautiful week!
I think your seedlings get further ahead in the studio because you have them on a longer light cycle than natural outdoor lighting in the greenhouse.
Hi Kelly how're you doing today?
The process of trees coming down is amazing.
Wages are one factor; another big factor is the cost of the land that the garden center occupies
Amen 🙏🏼 anyone giving their time for work should earn enough to live.
$90 for a David Austin rose? I bought mine from DA direct in the U.K. and the bare root were £19 ($22) each and the potted ones were £25 ($30). $90 is daylight robbery! They’re nice roses, but 😱
Yes, on a SS budget they are definitely out of my price range.
I just ordered 2 online paid 60 bucks a piece. I wish I would have seen your post. Can you please share the website you bought them from? I’d really appreciate it! I’d love to get a few more🥀
@@callikohl7603
Hi Calli !
What does ss means ? Acronyms are hard for non native english speakers... 😣
Yes, gardening on a budget can be complicated, luckily roses can be propagated from cuttings, maybe you can asks someone with david austin roses for a cutting and try to propagate it ?

Oh, i see.
Thank you for answering 🙌
Our oldest grandson, 8, got baptized this morning and our granddaughter, 5, kept saying he was getting bathtized. It was the cutest.
Oh Aaron, you are so much more than Laura’s secretary! You are the glue that holds all of Garden Answer together!
Laura and You are truly the Dream Team! Blessings to your beautiful family.
Enjoy the time you have with your little ones . Great that you take notes of there fun things they say. When my daughter was little we planting a little garden for We were planting seeds and they were mixed for kids. They were called bambi seeds with pics of all the baby animals on packet. Her comment was “ grows all these animals too huh” still smile about it she is45 now.
You should record Benjamin saying his prayers, I have recordings of my girls when they were younger singing in the shower and when I hear there little voices now brings a smile to that moment.
I have to second some of these comments!! I have learned so much since finding your channel and most every video I continue to learn or at least, be reminded of process or task that I need to work on!! Thanks so much!
Land and Sea compost is $12.95 a bag here. Every time I see Laura spread it willy nilly, I add up the cost. Yowzah. It is wonderful stuff, though. The cost of gardening to get that $50 tomato, right? LOL
I got some land and sea compost (1cu ft) last week at a garden center about 45 miles from me (in eastern NC). It was 9.99 a bag.
So shocked to hear how much they're asking for David Austin Rose's in Seattle! Last week I was wondering how much Land and Sea compost is, online at Walmart almost $30 for 1 cubic foot!! I may as well be spreading gold on my garden beds🤣
Price gouging 🌷💚🙃
I got 2 bags from Amazon for $26
@@lorihughes8873 you scored some gold !🌷💚🙃
Really like to hear both you and Aaron's conversations about life and of course gardening....what a decent guy he seems.
I can relate to you and your Mom having a conversation, when no seems to under stand you! My son-in-law said that our family communicates in our own language!
