- Police were forced to remove protesters from a talk at the Oxford Union by Kathleen Stock, as the leading feminist told students some universities were becoming “propaganda machines for a particular point of view”.
Student activists infiltrated the debating chamber on Tuesday night and burst out of the audience around ten minutes into the event, chanting “no more dead trans kids”.
Five police officers removed Riz Possnett, a transgender activist who disrupted the talk where Prof Stock was being interviewed about her gender-critical views. Possnett’s hand was found to be glued to the floor when officers stepped in.

The definition of violence is literally physical force to harm a person, words can only encourage violence.
People claiming words are violence is not new. Vegans get accused of this ALL the time. People say we force our beliefs on others, we are more violent than ISIS. The list goes on and on. This is just how people attack those they disagree with. We have a war on free speech taking place all across the globe.

Hearing the childish screaming outside whilst Kathleen is calmly putting her points across is truly shocking. It makes me scared for the future of our country if these childish, intolerant brats are the next generation into the workforce. If there’s no room for proper discourse and debate, what hope have we? Hats off for allowing Kathleen to speak and not giving in to the loutish mob…gives me some hope that there are still some sensible people out there!
What's more concerning is the people who are indoctrinating these young brats into believing that their opinions are the only ones that are correct and that anyone who doesn't agree with them is a transphobic bigot, it's all a load of bullshit.

Even if trans people *were* suffering heightened violence, it would be no reason to stop telling the truth. Imagine the flat earth society reported an increase in their members suffering harassment, abuse and mocking for their beliefs. The reaction wouldn't be to ask scientists to please be nice and stop saying the earth is round because it encourages "flat earth hate crime". Nonsense.

Just fyi, no one I have asked is able to provide evidence trans-identifying people suffer heightened violence. If we look at objective statistics, there have been 11 trans murders in the UK since 2008. Trans peoples are significantly less likely to be murdered compared to other groups.
Like Kathleen says, it seems all they have to prove their claim are self-report surveys asking if they FEEL like they've been discriminated against. And we are supposed to take that as reliable evidence.
The trans just hate lesbians like Kathleen. That's part of this problem.

Exactly. There is plenty of debate about trans people in prisons, but the activist community ignores how they ended up in there to begin with - as if it is all traffic violations and tax paper slip ups.
Totally agree. I believe in equality. I believe no one demographic is better or worse than another. We are all people and equally capable of doing good and bad to each other.

Kathleen Stock is one of very few sane people on this matter. Why are there hardly any with her insights in academia and so few in media? Such a sad state of affairs.

There are quite a few sane voices. There has been a long & quite successful campaign for them not to be heard though. But because of the Streisand Effect and because Stock is particularly clear, thoughtful, articulate & respectful, people want to hear what she has to say.

Imagine weeping blood and screaming blue murder over a woman sitting in a chair saying really obvious things. These people are crazy, they represent no-one.
She makes a very good, and for me the main point.
We have spent decades being extra vigilant to ensure someone who shouldn't access a space, or a group of society, doesn't. Even if that meant upsetting certain people. Because the safety of the group in question was paramount. A school teachers role is a good example.

Love Kathleen, I'm so glad Oxford students were able to hear her views (finally) & are able to think freely for themselves by making their own minds up after listening. My University was a space for free thinking; to debate, learn & grow for ourselves. I graduated a decade ago & so much has sadly changed since then. Uni's feel like giant hug boxes now & no longer places for the expansion of young minds.
Hurt feelings or being offended are just an aspect of life.

My observation is that adults in the room talk about reality, and young students (TRAs) talk about abstracts. The disconnection is natural. Youth or young adults are not equipped to discuss complicated issues other than moral abstracts, neither in experience nor critical thinking ability. The issue is that adults with experience & understanding of reality enable youth to benefit themselves, like politicians, predators, clickbait media, etc. The debate may be needed to elevate to "who benefited from this and what benefits they get."

An appreciation of personal consciousness and a basic understanding of psychological projection would benefit these student activists. As Fritz Perls said, "Lose your mind and come to your senses", but they won't.
