Quicker, lower, higher, browner. That's the new Boss OC-5 Octave. You'll get two modes: Vintage and Poly. One Octave up, two down. Separate level controls for all and a 'Range' control for the Poly mode (very cool feature). It sits well with fuzz and dirt and there's a Bass/Guitar optimisation switch on the front face of the pedal. So get down and get back up again.

I love that Boss has gone for tone rather than trying to do a load of pitch shifting bells and whistles. Reminds me of the old Pearl Octaver.
Keeps everything I like about the OC-3, fixes the things I don't like (glitchy tracking), and adds a +1oct. Bravo. Can't wait to try one of these.
Arigato Brett - superb demo of the OC-5
Thank you! I hope to visit your part of the world again some day. Soon. 🙏🏻
Haters can say all they want. But the truth remains: BOSS still out there kicking some pedal ass...Awesome tracking and tones. Well done Boss! Rabea's high gain demo of this puppy is absolutely brutal. And Brett delivers as always!
Great demo.
Holy cow, that sounded sweet! And that gold on lake placid blue is just beautiful.
Yeah, I was a bit worried about the bling when I ordered it, but I think I made the right choice. Looks like class to me (unlike me!)
That was fun! Who doesnt love an Octave?
From the SY1 to DD 200 to this! Boss really has some great stuff coming out!
Direct Out👍👍👍Soo glad to see this option back... it’s the wet/dry-amp dream feature.
Brett you provide The Most plain language, straight sound demos ever, and to my monthly budget’s demise I’m off to get this Octaver.
Excellent overview, Brett. The tracking on that pedal is nuts.
I think that rattled a few fillings loose in my teeth....love it
03:52 ughh! that's NASTY! and that's how I like it!!
Great great great review 🤘🏽 thank you very much 🤘🏽
Terrific variety of tones. Nice
Well done. I just ordered one and you showed me how to use it. Thank you!!
Brett great video. Great detail in showcasing the sound capabilities. You good Sir rock the internet. Missed the humbucker comparison. Best Regards.
Agreements for the excellent demo.
Thanks to it I discovered that I need this pedal!
Sounds great! Really dig the vintage mode!
This is EXACTLY what I need! I'm gonna have so much fun with it when my custom lap steel guitar comes in...
The poly mode really thickens the tone!
Boss: makes the DD-500
Also Boss: can't get 1+Octave audible until max volume
Brett has the direct level set pretty high in this video, you'd just need to rebalance if you wanted +1 louder
This one seems more good than previous Boss brown box offerings. I like the extended useful modes. So far my only Boss pedal is a fancy loop/midi switcher.
I am impressed, I did not like Version 3 at all I still have my old Japanese OC-2 and this is a good replacement, better than the POG ehx
very cool pedal i needed this pedal on the Funk video i did recently oh well
Never noticed he was also Korg from Thor
2:56... "Turning that fuzz off"? How dare you...😁
Another great demo for the archives ol' boy...
Cheers... 🍻
This thing sounds sweet! 🤘Great demo as always
Good demo, I’ll take it.
Pre-ordering today. Love the OC-3, but always wanted an upper octave on it
Run at 6:21...amen!
Nice demo from a fellow Brett K
Hmmm very interesting.
Good demo too.
I'm still on my old Arion Octaver ...
Need to save up some good old Welsh Shekels iznnit boyo ...
Hello, someone said to me, that DiMarzio Area 61 is a copy of kinman,,,,Do you had the opportunity to test both pickups,,,sounds the same?
How hard can this glitch out on chords or arpeggios in vintage mode? I like that there is finally a clean upper octave option too.
If you lower the range knob to a lower setting can you have octave down on the lower strings but the higher strings have no octave? Seems like on the lowest setting it puts an octave down on single note lines on the upper strings as well?
It’s an unusual pedal to update. I thought they would have given us more Waza! Octave isn’t really in fashion these days is it? Great demo though.
Octave not in fashion?? There's literally hundreds of rock bands out there currently using octave fx
I haven’t been able to jam with any bassists for a while, so the other day I thought to myself, I should get an octave pedal! Lo and behold this one had just come out, so I ordered one. It’s supposed to arrive today. I’ll let you know how it works out.
@@Nobddy Have you tried the pedal out yet?
@@GuitarG123 Yeah. It’s awesome. I don’t care much for the multi-voicing-Maybe I’ll use it in a song one day when I want my guitar to sound like an organ-but the vintage mode is great for getting a pretty thick bass tone out of a guitar (I’m using a strat with single coil alnico pickups). I really like using it in conjunction with a fuzz pedal, but the sound might be too gritty for some. All in all, I’ve found the pedal very fun and useful. I didn’t know how often I’d use it, but it’s getting as much use as the reverbs and delays on my board. I recommend it - and hey, if you don’t like it, just return it.
@@Nobddy That's great that your getting good use out of it. Sounds like a versatile pedal. I havecthe micropog which I use for ambient stuff along with delays reverbs and chorus. I have ordered the Boss OC-5 for using in Poly mode so that I can isolate lowest note in a chord to add bass. The vintage mode adds to it's versatility. Thanks for the reply.Looking forward to trying it out.
