The actress who plays Miss Anna (Randy’s foster mom) is the same actress who played the lady in season 1 when Bunk burned all his clothes. I’m sure they just re-used the actress for a different character but since she was just credited as “woman in bar” the first time I like to think it actually was Miss Anna before she started taking foster kids. Much funnier that way

The guy who brought Omar the shank in prison is played by Donny Andrews who is a former stick up kid, and one of the inspirations for Omar's character. He turned his life around after getting hooked on drugs and taking a hit job, for which he turned himself in. After he got out of prison, he became an activist working to help kids get off the streets.

It's difficult subject matter, bro, I know full well. This was life for us youngsters in the early 2000's. Young pregnant teens, young males looking up to the big homies trying to be like them, others just trying to follow the right path trying to not get caught up in the game. It was a harsh reality that a lot of us endured.

And, to get money, there WAS a “game” back then. Now groups of 100 teens ransack a Walgreens or Best Buy all at once. At least in the old days, even the criminals worked. I know, sounds bad. But at least they used to earn money selling something, at the very least, that someone else wanted.

"I don't give a shit, I don't even vote." The actor who plays Detective Norris was the real life Baltimore Police Commissioner for a few years. He was later convicted for fraud (I think) and isn't eligible to vote. :) Also, Cutty is trying to relate to Mike by telling him how much he likes women. Btw, "moolies" is a racist term for black people.

So the song by Curtis Mayfield "Move on Up" (the sample on touch the sky) is actually a song celebrating the civil rights act/black people gaining the right to vote; so it's song about the franchising of votes playing over a felon who's serving his community but has his rights restricted due to his past- it's a strangely aspirational moment that almost has viewer buying into the ideals of the democratic process.
The political plot in season 3 is good; but the 6 episode ride with Carcetti and Norman is>>>>>>
Of course there's still more to come though.

Not sure if you're black or white but it's Ironic ain't it? Now both of us (a whitey here) are quite literally being marginalized by having our voting power diluted due to illegal aliens (of any color) who cause the number of congressional seats to go up in the electoral college depending on which states they decide to illegally inhabit. (The number of seats are determined by number of people, not citizenry). It's a dang mess.

People who got convicted of felonies lose the right to vote in America, which is crazy when you consider that felonies can extend to simple drug possession and how many people just take plea deals rather than fight the justice system. So Cutty, even though he's rehabilitating himself and reintegrated in society (and kudos on the show for not making him a saint despite being a person who tries to be better) doesn't get a say in the democratic process, along with a lot of poor folk who can't try and fight the system.

Top three episode of season 4 for me personally; very cathartic with Carcetti's win, I've seen reactions where people with little investment in him as a person have to catch their breath when he gets the victory call or get pulled into the scene with Terry and him showing restraint.

    Hello, there !

  • @DODIRTT
    @DODIRTT Місяць тому

What happened with the girl and tbe 2 boys is simple. It wasn't rape or sexual assault. This depends on the state but in general the age of consent is from 16 to 18 years old. But a important factor is if your state has a Romeo and Juliette which states that its legal for 16 only with a age difference of 2-4 years. One of the problems of tougher age of consent laws was the fact that if you are 17 dating a 17 year old and you turn 18. You could be charged with statutory rape even tho you are only days or months older then the girl. There was alot of cases where people mostly teenage boys where getting charged and had to be registered as a sex offended for sleeping with their 17 year old girlfriend.
The laws in america are fucked up because not all states have the same laws or interpretations of the law.
But the situation in this episode wouldn't fall under any age of consent laws. They are all under age so that doesn't apply. The reason why they are even investigating this is because the girl claimed it was rape.
This has happened to someone i knew. Sometimes you have naive girls who will unfortunately do thinks like this girl did because she thinks this will make the guy she likes be with her.
Where the boys fucked up was trying to act like they were better then her and putting her on blast.
Befoe i say this let me be clear. Im not saying sexual assault and rape isnt real. But this just wasn't what happened. She probably didn't want to have sex with the other guy but she did go through with it and you saw that she was happy enough to greet the one dude

I don't want to live in that kinda country.. ESPECIALLY after the whole covid debacle and all the "mandatory" lockdowns lol (that we never abided by down here in Alabama bc our governor said to hell with that).
And g n rights? Kiss those goodbye if you give the feds all the power. Once you lose those you lose everything else. Ppl just aren't educated on how America is supposed to be governed (it's supposed to be governed extremely minimally) but ppl aren't taught this in schools. Especially public schools. Our federal government needs to be shrank by about 80%. They stole about 16 grand from me last yr in taxes..... I might as well of just tossed it in a woodchipper.
