Lady Mormont was right about the strength of Mormont men. Despite there only being 62 of them one of them still managed to make it that far to leave the shield Jon used to defend himself from Ramsey's arrows.
Also, if you look closely, it’s the mormonts (known for their long gold hairs) that surrounded jon in the middle of the stampede. Making sure jon is safe. A pretty cool subtle detail
Here We Stand 🐻🛡
RIP Wun Wun! I'll just leave this here for those who haven't read the books, I like this song so much.
I am the last of the giants,
my people are gone from the earth.
The last of the great mountain giants,
who ruled all the world at my birth.
Oh the smallfolk have stolen my forests,
they’ve stolen my rivers and hills.
And they’ve built a great wall through my valleys,
and fished all the fish from my rills.
In stone halls they burn their great fires,
in stone halls they forge their sharp spears.
Whilst I walk alone in the mountains,
with no true companion but tears.
They hunt me with dogs in the daylight,
they hunt me with torches by night.
For these men who are small can never stand tall,
whilst giants still walk in the light.
I am the LAST of the giants,
so learn well the words of my song.
For when I am gone, the singing will fade,
and the silence shall last long and long.
Dany did follow Tyrion's plan. She met the masters to "try" to negotiate with them. But they both knew that the Masters would do as they always did. So Dany summoned Drogon in a sneak attack, destroyed their lead ship, and kept the other ships in tact for herself. Tyrion knew this would be enough to make the Masters surrender... that, plus the death of a couple of them. lol.
love that!
That, and Dany was was talking about burning their cities to the ground. There's a difference between that and using the dragons tactically.
She had them killed while treating with them. That's wrong.
Nah they were given 3 damn chances. Once when she sent her ppl to yunkai after finding out they were enslaving again, once with tyrion talking to them and again at the end
“that’s one way to get rid of a husband” is crazy
Ep 9 is great but you guys won't believe how much better it will get next ep. The Winds of Winter is THE BEST episode of television ever made, period.
Yes, Next time, before Lyanna Mormont speaks, they will be in another dimension, and if we talk about Ramin Djawadi's new musical instrument... The seven Heavens
Absolutely agree. It might be one of the best single episodes of television ever.
100%!!
@@LoveKSJW The winds of winter and that ozymandias episode from breaking bad
@@namelesswhocares8648 I’m ashamed to say… I’ve never seen breaking bad 😭

❤️❤️❤️❤️
Same! The music, cinematography, & costuming is maybe my favorite of the entire series. … the last 2 seasons do also have great costuming . 😂I’ll say that
Mine too. If I had to pick just one episode as the best one of this series, it would be either S4e10 or S6e10.
I'm so excited for episode 10 it's wild...these 2 episodes are my favorite in the series.
The battle was inspired on the real life Battle of Cannae where Hannibal's smaller 50,000 Carthaginian army tricked, surrounded and annihilated the much larger 86,000 Roman army. The encirclement maneuver is called a Cannae in military tactics. It has been used as recently as the Gulf War.
Fun fact: That Cavalry charge with Jon Standing alone was NOT CGI. Kit was actually standing in that field with the horses charging right past him. Boss Shot
That scene always makes me tear up a little. It is such a Ned Stark move. Ned would be proud.
I had tears when the Stark flag was back on Winterfell

When Mrs October starts to flip her hair, you know the stress is real! Love you guys 💖😄
I don’t think the Octobers realize that Sansa wrote for help to Littlefinger before the war started and never told Jon
Sansa was unlikeable for most of the series, but her bullshit with the knights of the Vale make her one of the dumbest, most worthless, useless cunts in the whole show. I hope she does better in the books...
She writes to him and then meets with him to work out the details although we the viewer don't get to see what those are until this episode.
She was a useless, unlikeable moron
The shot with Jon standing alone in front of Bolton’s charging army is fantastic.
I love that Sansa played the Vale card. She knew that Littlefinger always had a soft spot for her and also he kind of owed her for marrying off to Ramsey.
As always, Littlefinger did what he did to further the advancement of himself. LF had an alliance with Roose but not with Ramsey who he earlier admitted he did not know. From Sansa as well as he spies presumably he finds out this season that Ramsey is sadistic and psychopathic, or in other words someone like Joffrey who he can't work with/manipulate. So as he did with Joffrey, LF concocts a plan to get rid of Ramsey and hopefully replace him with someone he believes he'll be able to control.
Couple fun facts..
-when the episode aired.. the actor who plays Rikon tweeted ‘Had a good run #shouldvezigzagged’
-the shield Jon picks up inside Winterfell has the Bear Island sigil.. proving that Lady Mormont’s 62 men made all the difference..
Actually, the Vale made all the difference. That Bear Island shield would have been under a pile of a thousand bodies, including all the Bear Island contingent, had the Vale not shown up.
I'm geeking out. I love this episode. Now we're headed into my favorite episode of the series. It's incredible because by the end, you can hardly remember what happened at the beginning. I'm so excited!!!
lol at the callback to Sansa putting sheep shit inside someone's mattress.
Second best episode. My favorite is 6x10.
And Mr. October got attacked by a crackhead. Hahahaha!!
Mrs. October "That's one way of getting rid of a husband"
Mr. October thinking - "how many ways has she thought of????" LOL
- Mr. October with a Battle Scar is perfect for this "Battle" episode. As long as blood isn't spirting out of your wound with every beat of the heart, all is well.
- Dany listened to Tyrion. She tried to negotiate with the masters. When that failed, she only destroyed some of their army & navy. She did not destroy the cities of the masters.
- Jon Snow was Captain America with a Mormont shield in his 1 v 1 with Ramsey. This proves a Mormont was in the front lines charging into Winterfell. With only 62 warriors, Bear Island made a difference.
- Sansa never told Jon that she wrote to Littlefinger to bring his army. That brings up speculation on Sansa's motives. Jon could have died. How would Jon have handled things had he known the army of the Vale was there to support them?
Alright! Been waiting for this (and the next one)!
I always like to count the number of times Jon hits Ramsay...I believe it's 28 (or maybe 29)? And the Sansa "walk away and smile" returns...remember when Joffrey set her aside? 🎉 The Battle of the Bastards is hard to watch for the insane carnage - especially the crushing scene when Jon cannot get air, but the ending is so satisfying! Coming up...Cercei's Revenge.
Jon did tell the Red Witch what he saw when he died... nothing.
Haha, that was a fun watch with Mr. O freaking out with excitement and with Mrs O channeling dark Sansa for a while now, savoring all gruesome scene. Just a few notable call-back stuff: Jon’s line about whether Ramsey’s men would fight for him was Greyworm’s line to the masters’ soldiers, the shot of Jon in the sea of soldiers was a la Dany crowd surfing her peeps in the Mhysa episode, and Sansa does the same walk away and grin from when she didn’t have to marry Joffrey anymore. Also, check out the BoftB episode Game of Jones (with Leslie Jones reacting to this episode).
I dont like to give little finger any credit, but Sansa was the one who made this chess move. She knew Ramsey would have tricks and the fact that she had the vale in her back pocket was so satisfying! Her character development is one of the best of the show. Cant wait for the next episode! 👍🏻
I dont like to give sansa any credit. If it werent for Littlefinger and his simp behavior sansa would have got nothing. She should open her legs for him. Without Littlefinger they all would be dead or worse.
She unnecessarily cost Stark soldiers lives by withholding that information. If Jon would've know about those Knights from the Vale he could've planned a strategy to ambush the Boltons. But hey, that's not shady at all...
@@JimBz84 Lol. Ramsey isn't going to abandon the superior defensive position of Winterfell to go march into an ambush. He only leaves Winterfell because he thinks he has an easy victory against Jon. When they parley, Jon acts exactly like a desperately outnumbered commander because that's what he truly believes he is. He even goes full tilt for Rickon which adds to the assurance Ramsey has that he can be beaten easily. If Ramsey gets one whiff of trickery from Jon (retreating, refusing to engage, etc) he just marches back behind the walls of Winterfell and then wins be default.
Jon taking off towards Ramsey to save Rickon is the exact mistake Sansa was talking about. Jon's honor & love won over logic. 😢
Sansa knew that Ramsay would bait with Rickon that Jon would ride his horse towards his men and that Ramsay would perform a pincer moves killing Jon's Troops?
@@smallbudoosHe'S tHe SmArTeSt PeRsOn I'vE eVeR mEt™ - gets me every time! 🤣
@@lucentaunisage Turned the tv off when I first heard that line
Why did they not give the Giant a giant log or something to use for battle? They didn't use his size to their advantage at all.
Yeah, he could've even picked up a few dead bodies and smashed the Bolton forces with them, even just stamped on or booted a few of them.
Great episode though, still.
Because D & D are idiots.
The giant that got killed in 4x9 had a massive bow and arrow. OF course the other one in that episode had nothing, when he got killed in the tunnel.
You'd think they cold fashion a simple huge club, and some wooden armor. Apparently, giants are not only shy....they are completely retarded as well.
So stupid.
the reason Jon charged is bc he was lured into Archer Range, those burning X's are typically 100m markers for Archers. Jon rushed to undercut the Volley.
i wish they hadnt made sansa smile in that scene at the end when she walks away from ramsey...
⏯️ " like a barnacle" 😂😂 I had to back up like an entire minute that I missed laughing at that 🧡
Here we go!!!! Cheers guys! 🍻
35:26 Dany DID take the fleet from the Masters. She only burned one ship to flex her power then killed the masters and when the guys on the other ships saw the dragons they started abandoning the ships.
I remember sitting upright on the recliner leaning forward towards the tv thinking this is it we are really going to lose Jon this time .. the scene of Jon, Tormund and the giant all running together is a fave..Ramsey's ending is just perfect !! .. can't wait to see your reaction to the season finale !! hurry up haha
A Dire Wolf scratched you bro damn🤣🤣🤣🤣
Cinematic masterpiece really not to mention the always incredible score by the great Ramin Djawadi! My only criticism is cramming the battle for Meereen in at the start, both deserved to be standalone episodes. Also it was a bit silly that the Knights of The Vale were somehow able to sneak into the North and hangout for months without anyone knowing.
i think they could have easily made it make sense by showing sansa not being able to trust that littlefinger would definitely support them, and ramsey believing the vale would support him rather than making it look like they 'sneaked in'...
@@orcocan I mean it’s just not possible for a southern force to cross the Neck, even if they could Ramsay and Jon would have heard about it…Ramsay would have considered it an act of war.
I mean this whole season is just bad storytelling starting with rose death. There is no way for little finger to get them north without alerting the freys either.
Arrows are very deadly when your whole army forgets to bring their helmets
My new favorite reactors out there. You two rock.
There is a bit of symbolism that it's a Mormont shield Jon picks up
I love this episode so much because Jon proves that he IS the best sword fighter!
Episode 9 was one of the best episodes in TV history. Episode 10 was the best episode in TV history.
I almost went to sleep. You guys are on time always.
Sorry, we was going to drop it in the morning around 10 AM like we normally do but we just wanted to get it out

R.I.P. Wun Weg Wun Dar Wun a.k.a. Wun Wun. Taller than Mag The Mighty, last of his race. Your fight is ended. We shall never see his like again. 😢
Sansa learned super-snark from Cirsei and is using that power for good. 😇
My ADD won't allow me to look through all the comments, but I'm sure maybe someone mentioned this, if not, the Shield Jon uses on Ramsey is a Mormont shield, one of 62 men!
Yep all that just happened. Best season, best episode, best battle, all around Epic. Lastly, Sansa lays out the best ending to Ramsay with a smile. Thanx so much, take care, Peace
season 1 better. Blackwater better. Rains of Castamere... better.
The one camera following Jon Snow in the Battle, gets me extremely nervous everytime, it's so good, and I already know what happens 🔥
Dragons were like 'lace em up, it's gonna be a long night.'. 😂
Y’all should watch behind the scenes of the battle of the bastards. The filming is epic and won awards. It was one of the top filmed episode’s of all time. The graphic nature and Jon struggles to get to the top of the bodies is so epic.
Jon said there was nothing when he died. So just nothingness, oblivion, no Ygritte, no heaven. But maybe he just can't remember it.
Maybe, my thought is maybe because he wasn't meant to die yet, so it was darkness, not a paradise where he would see Ygritte. Just my thought.
@@mamakat114 I like that too. No living person is meant to know what being dead is like.
YAY!! I've been *waiting* for y'all to watch this one!
Just wanted to say, I bought some of the Jerseys your wearing from when you advertised them before and I am very happy with them. Might run a tad bit small but otherwise they are comfortable and very well made.
Haha, those scratches are because you were doing some Theon type stuff. LOL.
Always like it when the A-Team of three, comes together, and then run's across field towards castle gate...
22:17 "That is no orc horn!"
@TheOctobersReact This and the next episode are peak GOT! Also RIP WunWun (aka the giant…that’s the giant’s name)
Definitely my favorite episode in the whole GOT franchise 🐺🐺🐺🐺🐺🐺🐺🐺
Just gasped and clicked so quick 😂
I think it's so funny that when Jon runs to his horse, wearing his sword, you can see that the sheath - with the sword in it - is made of something like rubber. It flaps all over the place showing that it's just a hilt inside the sheath, no blade. 🤣🤣🤣
Kit Harington bought Iwan Rheon a beer or two after the shoot for getting in some real licks during the Jon Snow pommeling Ramsay scene.
Sansa insists on being consulted about fighting Ramsey, but when asked for her opinion, she says, "I don't know. "
fun fact: dog wasn't biting Ramsey... he was biting his favorite deflated leather ball.
🤔 he wasn’t biting Ramsey!? You don’t say
Jon offers to fight one-on-one with Ramsay just like Jaime offered to fight one-on-one with Robb. Both decline.
So what you are saying is that Robb was a bitch like Ramsey? Just kidding. They were both smart not to.
Pre-battle comments 6:37 “so this is the battle of the bastards right here?” 15:20 “if this tops that fight in Meeren earlier” adding so much hype to the reaction I’m about to watch right now.
Just wait. The next episode is a banger!
You can HATE Ramsay all you want but damn that man is too good with a bow 🤣🫡
By far the BEST battle scene you'll see on TV. Jon did the damn thing...Especially Sansa. She got Karma on Ramsey so good🔥🔥👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Yeah, all it costs was thousands of men, the last of the giants, her brother and nearly her cousin. Yay
The ending is so satisfying. Love that Ramsey’s gone.
I NEED episode 10 like, yesterday😂
My 2nd favorite battle episode. It will be topped IMO. This episode was ranked as the top GOT episode on IMDB.
You guys need to do "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" and experience early 80's California high school.
Lol, I think they'd end up cutting too much of it out!
This is my favorite episode but "Hardhome" is still my favorite battle.
Actually, 6/10 is my all-time FAVORITE episode! You've probably seen why. But this one is EXCELLENT, too!...
BTW, Mr. October, we are a Republic, NOT a democracy - just so you know...😊
We are a Democratic Republic, a form of democracy - just so you know...😊
One of my favorites. too bad Sansa caused the deaths of hundreds of good men by NOT telling Jon about the calvery coming.
But I suppose at this point she trusts NO ONE.
But it made for a better ruse. Ramsey had zero chance of seeing it coming. Sacrifice for the great good
Only if you don't understand the battle plan. The plan was to fake out Ramsey and make their forces appear weak. Otherwise Ramsey just stays behind the walls of Winterfell and wins by default. While sadistic, Ramsey shows he can't be baited but like any good commander he'll take an easy victory if he thinks one is available.
Well get ready cuz episode 10 is about to blow yall away…and IMO it’s even better than episode 9 which is crazy to think about but it’s truly incredible
Teehee 🤭 blow away
As much as I love this episode, the writing, logistics and contrived decisions were glaring. I loathed the Jon and Sansa disconnect they forced this season. He may be battle tested but he was no tactician and Sansa, while smart, withheld forces that cost thousands of northern lives. Had she played LF for the Vale, they would have the all the big northern houses pledged to them instead of just freefolk being the turn off. The sneak attack excuse does not work because scouts stopped existing seasons ago so that was how this sweeping save was remotely possible. Brienne got wasted on the silly Blackfish excuse in person per Sansa in case Ramsey intercepts a raven. Then she sends a raven that House Mormont thankfully had on hand for Moat Caitlin (in the north so much more easily intercepted over Riverrun's risk).
Epic battle but so many flaws too. At Hardhome, the giant had a tree trunk - recall the battle of the wall with the archer? Oh well! The massive mounds of dead bodies were created in no time, and I appreciated that they tried using historical battles from multiple time periods hundreds of years apart but it didn't make sense for the numbers or the houses who allowed that many deaths would lost allegiance mid battle.
Ramsey's face should have been unrecognizable but Sansa repaying the kindness that bastard granted her made us all happy! And they lost the last giant ever to remove any potential for a siege! But hey, team Stark/Snow/Freefolk/Mormont made it across the finish line so I LOVE IT! It is a shame Rickon was never properly mourned or mentioned again...the actor didn't even have a line of dialog either since his return.
“He can do this all day!!” 😂
The guy you didn’t recognize fighting on Ramsay side saying who holds the north. Smalljon umber he gave Ramsay Rickon and refused to kneel. His father was the one that declared Robb king of the north.
Sansa is fucking awesome
The difference between Jon and Ramsay is the difference between a Warrior and a Bully.
Put some Aquaphor on those scratches. It will seal the wounds and help them heal faster. Any drugstore should have some. It's great to keep in a first aid kit. It's good for dry, cracked skin, minor burns, chapped lips even diaper rash for babies.
You know what Rickon's favorite band is?
One Direction!
Yes! Note in the end that Jon picked up a Mormont shield to deflect Ramsay’s arrows. Those 62 Bear Islanders made all the difference.
Episode 10 is great too!! My two favorite episodes!
the way Sansa say that they won't be abke to get their brother back is just cold and dark. Like she already accepted that Rickon is good as dead and all she wanted is to get winterfell back and beat Ramsay...
She also basically caused his death and nearly Rickons by not letting Jon know about the Vale. oh well... Girl boss
I'm surprised how few people make the comment about 'why didn't he just shoot Jon' because I think of that everytime I see that scene. Still Fn awesome. Jon and Sansa character development is top notch sht.
Forever angry at Sansa for hiding about the Vale. D&D really wrote the biggest nonsense in this case, it made her look awful and willing to risk her brother's and the men fighting for her to die, without planning a better approach.
Exactly, Jon only marched to battle because he believed he could not get anymore troops. To try and spin this as some brilliant strategic move by sansa is bullshit. She cost more Soldiers live than nesscary.
Lol. Ramsey would not have abandoned the superior defensive position of Winterfell for a fair fight and definitely not if he saw thousands of mounted knights coming at them. Even an idiot commander understands you don't do that. He only committed his troops outside the walls of Winterfell because he thought he had an easy victory. And it's not Sansa's plan. It's Littlefinger's. That's the whole reason they met a few episodes back - to plan out how to defeat Ramsey who very clearly is in possession of a superior position.
Man yall laugh and giggle at everything in this show like it’s a comedy
Cant wait for the next episode... the reveal will be amazing
Bro, I never clicked so damn fast
EP 9 is the best war based episode (thus far into the show) but 10 is overall best of the season fo sho!!
Looking forward to the next episode.

Bruh, 9 AND 10 are straight classics! Just wait. You will LOVE the season finale.
Episode 10 will not disappoint :) Great reaction as always
Thank you very much for the subtitles in this epic episode... but what's next... It would be good if in the next chapter you hit the pause at least a couple of times, and the musical introduction is from another dimension
Kind of my favorite bacl to back episodes
freaking cavalry, man....
stealing the spotlight since 1683.
I thought it couldn’t be out done, then came episode 10
My issue is why didn’t Jon think of the Vale? He said there are no more potential armies. Yet, Robyn is his cousin. We saw the old Maester drilled in the kids heads all the families and Ned and John Aryn were extremely close. So, Jon had to know of the Vale. Now I could have bought into Jon at least bringing the Vale up and someone saying Robyn is controlled now by Littlefinger so they won’t help. But, Jon should have at least brought the Vale up as an option.
SweetRobin & Jon are not related. Beyond that, I’m thinking this is where Jon’s bastardy comes into play. As Ned’s son, all the northern armies will recognize him as being of Winterfell and possibly fight for him. Southern armies don’t know Jon Snow. Why would they even consider fighting for him? Or fighting any northern concern
Robin and Jon aren’t related and Cat hates Jon. The whole situation and buildup for this was a complete mess to be honest though.
Maybe Jon wasn´t good at school and missed this lesson
