Merry Christmas Steve and Alicja from South Wales, thank you guys for keeping me going over the past 18 months or so. I lost my wife to cancer 1 year ago last September, that was when I discovered you great guys. She was also Eastern European, Romanian, and I loved seeing your content from there. Keep up the great work and look forward to more great content in the new year, stay safe guys, love you both
I think that because Edinburgh has so many beautiful buildings and architecture, that all the neon and plastic signage of the Christmas Market; ruin and obscure its glory. Just my opinion. Thanks for the videos 💫✨🎄
Concur. Gruss Gott. My favorite Christkindl Markets are in Munich and Frankfurt. The crowds are so festive and there are food and gift bargains available all around. It's always quite magical and don't forget the year-around Christmas available at Rothenburg ob der Tauber. Maybe that could be a future trip for you and your lovely traveling companion? ua-cam.com/video/EzZhJgqsdYU/v-deo.html
As a 44yo Norwegian, it _still_ throws me off with all the talk of Christmas on Christmas day. We gathered for "julaften" with a family meal (#TeamRibbe), exchanging and opening of gifts, etc yesterday. Today I'm in my sweats, home alone, doing as little as possible :P God jul, S&A, and everyone in the comments section, and a happy new year!
@sandersson2813 Rakfisk, 100% agree. Ribbe, when done right, can be on par with the best bbq. Pinnekjøtt is very hit or miss imho, can be amazing. When it comes to which tribe you belong to, it has more to do with tradition than taste, tbh.
That little tiny snippet of "True" did not go unnoticed, very cool moment. Merry Christmas to you and Alicja and the best of wishes for 2025. And thanks for the lovely Christmas Day surprise video!!
Fun fact, Rudolf Hess was held in Spandau prison for (wrongly in my opinion) the rest of his life...and one of his guards that stood outside his cell was Bernard Manning. (if you're not British, look him up)
You are right about the Christmas tree Steve. Every year Vestland county in Norway gives a Christmas tree as a gift to Edinburgh, as a 'thank you' for the help received from Scotland during the Second World War. And thank you for a great upload... Merry Christmas.

My wife and I were at the Edinburgh market last week, she went up in that whirly thing that you didn't fancy! She said it was scary and kept her eyes shut! I was like you and kept my feet on the ground! We were also in Berlin last year and visited a few of the Christmas markets there. They are definitely the best Christmas markets we've been too! Merry Christmas and best wishes for 2025!
It’s Boxing Day here in Sydney Australia and what a treat, another video from Steve! Enjoy the end of the year everyone and if I don’t comment on another video before it, hope next year is even better!
Thanks for all these fabulous videos. Late last year, we discovered one and your videos and thoroughly enjoyed it so much that we decided to go back to your first video and watch every one. We are still watching them but are now nearing the end. We also keep telling our friends and family about your fabulous videos and encourage them to watch. A lot of our enjoyment of your videos is not only your presentation and the places you visit, but also enjoy listening to your accent and your Scottish description of objects and places e.g. "wee" and "bonnie". So, many thanks for providing us with so many hours of enjoyment and education. Patricia and John ❤
Merry Christmas! To be fair that German Premier Inn seems identical to all the new or refurbished Premier Inn’s I stay in in the UK - I tend to stay in quite a few during the year, and they’re usually pretty consistent, which is really what I’m looking for when travelling for work.
Merry Christmas from Germany Steve. You became my favourite and most watched channel on UA-cam throughout the year because you do exactly the kind of nieche travel videos that I enjoy the most and you do that in the most entertaining and passionate way possible. I hope you and Alicja have a wonderful Christmas and a great new year. Patreon support is on and Im looking forward to your new travel adventures. Cheers ❤
Steve, the TV tower also known as Fernsehturm is a great way to view the whole of Berlin on a good clear day. As a child, before the wall fell down, I used to go to the TV Tower so many times and was very cheap, next to nothing. Now it's very expensive (a tourist trap). Good luck.
We were out in Berlin and visited both markets in Alexanderplatz - we liked the bigger one near the TV tower a little better than one you visited by the 'clock'.. The atmosphere and food was quite excellent and both of us would visit again.. It was certainly friendly on the wallet and as you say - German transport - Excellent. Thank you for sharing Steve. Merry Christmas to you both - Jim 🎉

What a nice surprise! Merry Christmas Steve and Alicja! You could try Munich next year, as Munich and Edinburgh are twin cities. There are some nice christmas markets here in Munich, too, although Bratwurst is more expensive than in Berlin. But unlike them, we do have decent beer 😉.
Favorite one was in Nuremburg - tons of shops, there was a bit of falling snow, wife loved it, and more shops and Gulwein than anybody could drink. The drive back to Augsburg was long, but rewarding.

Merry Christmas guys - well its boxing day here in Auckland and unfortunately we don't have Christmas markets and I would love to go to one in Europe one day. You are so lucky to be able to just pop off to Germany for a xmas sausage after having one in the morning too! I would have tried out the mulled wine.

Merry Christmas to you & Alicja. Oh boy did you make our mouths water for that German bratwurst! We don't have Christmas markets in our area.
