While I’m not a fan of multi-club ownership since it’s basically a cheat code for loans and transfers for players they would never be able to get otherwise, this has got to be really cool for people from Girona and fans in Spain who want to see a breakup of the traditional big 3 at the top.

It's the opposite for people from Girona, their club was taken away from them for the purpose increasing financial group's capital and furthering foreign countries political interests.
You can't take anything away from the performance of the players or the coach, but it's all soured because of the ownership's ultimate goal.

You're clueless. They are 1 big entity, they share scouting data, they share training information, methods & everything.
It's like 1 big club that is allowed to have locations in multiple countries, they all are just branches of Man City/Oil state owners. Imagine multinational companies without laws & regulations, that's what Girona are. Their success is sportswashing cause it has nothing to do with fans... they would succeed as a branch connected to a big tree & the fans have no influence on that.

As somebody who has been able to watch football transition from what it was in the '90s to the hypercapitalism that permeates the sport today, I absolutely agree with the notion of fans being happy to see the usual suspects getting broken up at the top.
The money and nature of the loans does kind of undercut the achievement though, Even if those factors are one of the only two things making girona's current season possible.

Its been dope seeing them come into the race.
Coz the funny thing is that theyve been one of the most entertaining teams in the league for two seasons now (onky behind Real Sociedad, Rayo Vallecano and this new free scoring version of Atléti) but it finally came together to bring them into the conversation of those European slots.
Will be interesting to see how it all ends. Coz again as much as the fairytale is going on i hope the City group dont rip them up a bit coz the City group controls some of those loan players that Girona has access to.
So the best case scenario is City let's them buy the players outright but worst case scenario is that some of those players get cashed in on and then Michel is gonna have to retool and start again.
But regardless what happens i think they will be fine coz i remember i was so worried about Rayo Vallecano after they lost Andoni Iraola to Bournemouth but they have managed to stay relatively safe so as long as Girona keep Michel they should also be fine 👊🏿🙏🏿
    Great coverage as always 🫡👊🏿

For context for the size of the city compared to those in England, it hangs around the likes of Rochdale, Bath, and Oldham. All of those places have football teams which are in the national leagues. Crazy what good connections and money can do for a club.
Very much dont agree with the City group model as it feels like an unfair advantage for any club in it to be basically handed Man City youth talent and extras, along with heaps of cash to propel them to the top despite having no business being there. I understand there are other clubs that have good relationships with other clubs and do a lot of business, but this level of monopolisation of football is very dangerous to the integrity and fairness of the game imo
I must add also that its great to see smaller clubs competing at the top, but it feels tainted by having their pockets stuffed by the City group. They are no longer an authentic small club, they have big club money, respources and connections whilst pretending to be the underdog.

I didnt know Girona was part of the City Group... 😥 This essentially takes away all the "small club sticking it to the big ones" romance out of this underdog story. Regardless that they've not been throwing money around like the big boys (yet). Very disappointing to learn.

    - find a city that has famous/ successful club (barcelona, manchester united)
    - look at another side of the city club (girona, manchester city)
    - buy it and fund it

I know they have the multi club ownership thing but doesn’t anyone else see it’s nice to see smaller clubs be more competitive against bigger clubs. Football NEEDS more COMPETITION so it’s nice to see teams like Aston Villa Bayer Leverkusen and Girona challenge the big clubs in their respective leagues. Hopefully this will
Be sustainable and become the norm and these smaller clubs compete in Europe.

Let's be honest, Girona is like a how Google, McDonalds & many other multinational corporations. Girona are part of City, they share coaches, data, methods, scouts/scout data & many other things that are part of 1 big company. If UEFA, FIFA & ruling bodies were not sucking off oil states, there would be regulation to make sure such ownerships are fair & competitive like how there are regulations on multinational companies. Girona's success was guaranteed even if they had 1 fan, this is the biggest anti-football fact, success not related to their fans is just a farce & sportswashing.

    • @Godismighty34
