While I’m not a fan of multi-club ownership since it’s basically a cheat code for loans and transfers for players they would never be able to get otherwise, this has got to be really cool for people from Girona and fans in Spain who want to see a breakup of the traditional big 3 at the top.

As somebody who has been able to watch football transition from what it was in the '90s to the hypercapitalism that permeates the sport today, I absolutely agree with the notion of fans being happy to see the usual suspects getting broken up at the top. The money and nature of the loans does kind of undercut the achievement though, Even if those factors are one of the only two things making girona's current season possible.

We played these during pre season (Blackburn fan) and it worried us massively as they were amazing. Now it makes massive sense as they are flying. Made for a great game
Past year or so is showing some crazy changeups in the sport. Asia and Africa making new strides in international football, Leverkusen in Bundesliga, the prem this year looks like the most competitive its been in a while, and of course Girona.

For context for the size of the city compared to those in England, it hangs around the likes of Rochdale, Bath, and Oldham. All of those places have football teams which are in the national leagues. Crazy what good connections and money can do for a club. Very much dont agree with the City group model as it feels like an unfair advantage for any club in it to be basically handed Man City youth talent and extras, along with heaps of cash to propel them to the top despite having no business being there. I understand there are other clubs that have good relationships with other clubs and do a lot of business, but this level of monopolisation of football is very dangerous to the integrity and fairness of the game imo I must add also that its great to see smaller clubs competing at the top, but it feels tainted by having their pockets stuffed by the City group. They are no longer an authentic small club, they have big club money, respources and connections whilst pretending to be the underdog.

Sounds like the MLB farm system. Parent club buys the prospects and loans them out to the various teams below them until they're ready. Also a convenient way to give coaches they like experience in the roles they see them one day taking over for the top team.

I didnt know Girona was part of the City Group... 😥 This essentially takes away all the "small club sticking it to the big ones" romance out of this underdog story. Regardless that they've not been throwing money around like the big boys (yet). Very disappointing to learn.

- find a city that has famous/ successful club (barcelona, manchester united)
- look at another side of the city club (girona, manchester city)
- buy it and fund it

Let's be honest, Girona is like a how Google, McDonalds & many other multinational corporations. Girona are part of City, they share coaches, data, methods, scouts/scout data & many other things that are part of 1 big company. If UEFA, FIFA & ruling bodies were not sucking off oil states, there would be regulation to make sure such ownerships are fair & competitive like how there are regulations on multinational companies. Girona's success was guaranteed even if they had 1 fan, this is the biggest anti-football fact, success not related to their fans is just a farce & sportswashing.
