Thanks for the video. It's funny how people are rediscovering things that used to be common everywhere. I removed and replaced so many dual knob radios when I was a teenager that I just assumed everyone knew how they (and their face plates) were mounted. I guess those things haven't really been around in almost 30 years. We didn't have any good tools back then, so we just used needle nosed pliers to grab each side of the nut.
My '76 F250 doesn't even have a radio (factory option) but I did need to know how to remove the heater control knobs. Glad to know my suspicions were correct. Also, it was helpful that you showed the headlight knob release button. I could just see myself cussing at the inspection camera like an asshole

Heres a trick that works You dont need to take the heater knobs off, and the little button that you press on the lite switch to release can simply be pressed after you tilt the bezel foward. Theres no need to do a reach around! Haha pun .
I just did this today. After you pull the gauges you simply press on the square tab of the white plastic clip that holds the cable to the cluster and push upwards while you do. The clip will come lose and the cable will slide right off. If you search for “Fox body Speedo cable removal” on UA-cam you will see exactly how to do it. Hope that helps!

There's a white plastic clip that surrounds the bell on the end of the speedometer cable. On that clip there is a flat area that you can feel when you get your hand up in there. Note: The flat spot I'm talking about is toward the speedometer rather than on the cable side. Press on that flat spot and gently wiggle the cable and it should pop loose.
You could always use a deep socket!

It's ALT for alternator. The gauge shows whether the battery is (D)raining, or if it's (C)harging.
