Robert Levon's Been's bass sound is the coolest in this universe and Peter Hayes throws his whole body and soul into this like it was a matter of life and death. Lots and lots of love and respect for BRMC!
Could this song be about 'Mother Ayahuasca', the amazonian brew which people have been drinking for thousands of years to connect to 'the spirit world' ? Look it up, it's bloody fascinating
I simply feel that music is meant to be enjoyed, and if it is, and brings some sense of feeling or emotion, then it's done it's job. I also think that music does that in different ways for some people, and if the technicality of music does that for you, that's great. I may even be jealous, as I find some music that you may enjoy to be inaccessible, and who knows, with changing technology there may be a computer algorithm to follow your "strict" facts and realities to make music perfect for you.
Didn't really like this song that mutch until I saw this performance. Insane, feelings like a whole energy around the venue, such a unique atmosphere here, it's heavy.
when did this Dvd come out???I only heard about it now...so ashamed...I thought I was a big brmc fan,wtf is wrong with me lol.Im buying this as soon as I find it.
60's range Epiphone Rivoli with the classic 30K Sidewinder pickup, 2 ampeg svt-4 heads with 8x10 ampeg cabs, almost for sure. Then I think he uses the one amplifier clean, and drives the other through effects so he can retain that low end with distortion on top. He always plays with 2 amps I think. Also he has a million pedals, tubescreamers, the old proco rat, a tech21 sansamp VT, boss CEB-3 bass chorus, EHX Tube-Zipper, Roger Mayer Voodoo - Bass and some others... The man knows how to create unique bass sounds.
I just have a general distaste for most of rock subgenres as i find they didnt really evolve much for the last 30-40 years. The only subgenres i legitimately like are instrumental post-rock and some forms of modern hard rock/alternative metal, which still have a more metalic sound than straight up rock. Only a handful of indie bands have a few songs that work for me. As far as the rest of guitar-based band music is concerned, metal is far more preferable to me.
I think the fact that you use the word "knowledge" (which implies there is something objective about it) to talk about music, which is of course a purely subjective experience tells me that perhaps this isn't the band for you. There are many more "technical" bands with less emphasis soul and feeling in their music that may appeal more to your... "drum sound knowledge".
Please stop with these age-old excuses/accusaions that technical music has no soul and feeling. And not there are many strict facts and realities about music, its not purely subjective, and in the case of drum sound, its not subjective ten-fold, the drums in this song are mediocre at best, with the difused kick drum/snare so specific of indie bands, and the beat by itself is nothing of much interest. Im not tryign to come off as a music scholar, i wish i was.

Makes me question your drum sound knowledge.
