For anyone wondering "How long does the drain hose take to stop dripping?! WILL it ever stop?!" It took about 25 minutes for me. Whatever you do, do *not* unscrew the filter part until the hose is done draining or it will flood your floor. I repeat. And make sure to run a drain cycle right before attempting this for the same reason. The instructions are not very clear about how long all this takes or the fact that you need to let the hose drain completely before unscrewing the filter, so just letting people know. I learned the hard way.
Yeah, I have nothing in the filter and it gushes water out. If I don’t empty it, the stink builds up. But it’s not far enough off the floor for a tray that will catch all the water. Anyone have suggestions?
I finally figured out how to get rid of the rotten egg smell. Drain completely and close up. Create a diluted beach solution and pour gradually into the tub cylinder until it stops draining (roughly the same amount of water that originally drained out). Let sit for a few hours. Then run an empty hot wash. If it smells again in a few weeks then repeat. It took 3 cycles of this to fully get rid of the smell. I do this every 4 weeks now - no more smell!
@@leelfm Yes. After it fully drains you then unscrew the filter to clean it. I use an old chinese food takeout container to catch the water. It almost fills up the whole container.
Honestly I would stay away from bleach as it can be harmful to certain components when used too much ..I often resort to using simple green, the lemon scent type, which smells amazing a simple green has enzymes in it that kills the bacteria causing the odor.. not to mention a gallon of it's cheap and can be used cleaning anything in your home.. use it to deodorize lines all the time and it works great
I tried this after getting the "OE" error on my panel. I found an elastic hair-tie in the filter and half of it was thru one of the holes in the filter. I removed the hair-tie, cleaned out the plastic filter ,and put everything back. It worked! I was able to start the washer! Once I had the OE message, a new cycle would not start. I did try unplugging the machine and starting a new load but it would not start. I'm very thankful it wasn't an issue with the pump. There was a lot of water in my machine that I emptied before taking out the filter but it was still less than 30 minutes.
Haha ...mine had that same oe error code..i pulled it off a curb b4 trashman got it..i cleaned that filter ,it was completely filled with dog hairs from i believe NEVER being cleaned in 13 years ..put it all back together crossed my fingers and hooray been using it 4 months and works beautifully 😀

Great tutorial. Thank you. Mine was leaking, so that was the only reason I checked it. Surprisingly, after almost a decade of use, that filter was almost like new. Is this strange, considering that the washer has been used weekly for over 10 years? After I scrubbed the seals from the minor buildup, it screwed in and eliminated the leak.
The instructions (including written) should note that the pump filter should be reinserted a specific way (I believe with the "open" side of the filter facing up) to insert smoothly and insure a tight closure. Unfortunately an entire wash cycle leaked out our machine's pump filter and soaked our basement. However, the LG agent in customer service was able to help me figure out the problem by running a spin cycle, and I reinserted the pump and cover after figuring out the best position.

The drain pump hose on my front-loading washer retracted into the machine and I can't even see it to pull it back out. How can I access it? Am I supposed to turn the water off on my washer before I unscrew the drain line? I unscrew the drain line with the machine off and water just kept coming and wouldn't stop. Any advice would help please this is my first front load LG washer, I bought it used but want to learn how to maintenance it. It filled my pan with water and was still flowing so I must be doing something wrong
It's because there was water backed up all the way into, the tub probably. Check if water in tub first...if there is, you're gonna have a lot,of,water, like a half, gallon or so.
I have to drain my washer after every load. It always releases a lot of dirty water and I can’t get rid of the terrible smell. I’ve washed it so many times, tried all the tricks and do the draining. Am I missing something?? Our clothes smell HORRIBLE. My washer is only 3 years old.
I'm not sure why your washer stinks so bad but I do know that the doors of these washers need to be open a crack so that they can dry out. Check your door seal and check the dispenser that you put your detergent in. I always take the dispenser completely out and take it outside and shake it to drain all the water out and then I take a paper towel and clean the inside compartment where the detergent containers go back in. If you do not dry the Rubber seal and leave the door open you will have mold build-up inside the crack of the Rubber seal on the door. My front load washer has a magnetic part so that the door will stay slightly open. I hope this helps you

When I undo the filter it smells like rotten eggs? I have washed the washing machine and drained all the water? How do I get rid of the rotten egg smell from the filter?
Same problem. Smell seems to build up every couple of weeks. The filter always has just minimal material. Also a ton of water (like a quart) drains out thru the hose, much more than in the video.
Our sink kept filling up and almost overflowing and the machine was getting an FE erroe code with water still in the tub. I hope this works because the machine is only a few years old as in 4 yrs old

I've only had my LG for three months and started to try to clean the drain pump today for the first time. When I undid the little hose so much water came out it filled up the shallow tray that I selected from watching several videos. So I put the plug back in. Next, I opened the filter. Big mistake. The drain hose on mine is completely clogged and nothing comes out when I take the plug out. But when I open the filter housing lots of water comes out. Is there a way to clear out the hose clog?
@@jennifermahan7265 I ended up taking the front off of the washer and got access to the hose. Detached it from the pump or whatever and then used a wire hanger to push through the hose to finally clear it and reinstalled it.
@@Ms.Zein8 Did you manage..? its so stuck, have unscrewed all the screws too but no.. Stressful when there is wet laundery in and cant open the tub too
Shoot I must have pulled the hose out to far this time because very little water came out and when I started to unscrew the filter a lot of water came out 😣
Probably hose is clogged with stuff. Use a straw cleaner or narrow bottle brush to clear the hose. Or use canned air duster and blast air through to clear it.
It means the washer is working properly. It has a sump, which retains water like a dishwasher, it’s to keep the seals from rotting. It technically never drains ALL of the water out, no washer dishwasher does.
Please, please, please make a tutorial about how to clean the thin, drain hose pipe which is clogged with sand.. 😔🥺I don't know what to do... Please help me!
Hello, Christ. Thank you for your inquiry. To open the panel, you may require a flathead screwdriver or a flat long nose pliers to gently pry it open. So i went to drain the water from the hose but nothing came out...I felt the hose and it feels like its clogged up with gunk...Tried to break it up but still a portion stuck way deep inside...Anyways once I opened the filter water poured out & the filter was not that dirty...Is there anyway to unclog the plug?
@@LaughinLoneStar lemme know how it goes. I tried to clean the hose as much as possible with a straitened coat hangar. Got a ton of gunk out and the hose felt like I could squeeze it. I'll prob try to see if the hose can drain this spring before I do anything crazy. I feel like if it gets clogged once it's gonna keep happening..is the only point of the hose is to drain the water vs having to open the filter and the water all spill on the floor? Or does that hose have another purpose
When the drain hose is plugged, use hot water and a turkey injector syringe to repeatedly inject hot water into the hose. do this until you can freely pump water up into the filter area. Keep a drain pan in place to catch the water coming out. Worked like a charm. Turkey injectors are great for lots of things. Keep one handy. :)
@@peterc504 Well, we do it every two years but I think , as always, it depends. How much sand/dirt/hair is being thrown in the washer. That is what I see clogging my hose. I'd drain via drain hose and clean filter every few months frankly. Only takes a few minutes.
I pulled top hard on the drain hose, it came out, now the water is not running into the machine, it is running onto the floor. Wtf - not going into the machine at all....

I'm using an LG washer too, different model but with the exactly same drain pump filter. I have to say this is totally useless compare to the traditional cloth bag types of the top load washer. Ever since they changed to plastic compartment designs (even for top loads), these lint filters have become better looking rather than effective.

make sure the filter is screwed in tight
The drain hose may have a hole. This just happened to us and now we have to figure out how to replace it.
The drain pump hose on my front-loading washer retracted into the machine and I can't even see it to pull it back out. How can I access it? The plug was the only thing protruding from the hole and when I pulled gently on it, the hose disappeared. I'm afraid to run the machine if the hose isn't plugged.

Mine did the same. Water everywhere even though I used the drain line first. It did stop though but a lot came out.
@@HelenBeeYoga I was able to clean my filter. A lot of water came out of the tube part though. There was nothing in my filter
It's because there was water backed up all the way into, the tub probably. Check if water in tub first...if there is, you're gonna have a lot,of,water, like a half, gallon or so.
Please help!!! While trying to clean, my drain hose went back inside and now I cannot pull it out. What do I do?
Did you get help?
I have to drain my washer after every load. It always releases a lot of dirty water and I can’t get rid of the terrible smell. I’ve washed it so many times, tried all the tricks and do the draining. Am I missing something?? Our clothes smell HORRIBLE. My washer is only 3 years old.
I have the same problem - I hope someone can give us some advise.
do a wash without clothes with a cup of baking soda, it will also remove scale build-up
I'm not sure why your washer stinks so bad but I do know that the doors of these washers need to be open a crack so that they can dry out. I hope this helps you
that is normal, you need to poor a little bleach to clean once in awhile. It only the spring and summer it is bad.

When I undo the filter it smells like rotten eggs? I have washed the washing machine and drained all the water? How do I get rid of the rotten egg smell from the filter?
wash it
Try vinegar
Same problem is building up every wash and filter is always clean
Same problem. Smell seems to build up every couple of weeks. The filter always has just minimal material. Also a ton of water (like a quart) drains out thru the hose, much more than in the video.
@@TonyXLXL same here did you ever find a resolution to this?
What do you do if your washer takes to long to fill up?
Can anyone help me? The little house is clogged by the looks of it. All the water comes out when you take the filter not when opening the hose.
Don’t pull it out all the way or it kinks. It’s a stupid system
@polarlab113 Yeah. 7 months later, I still haven't fixed it. I think it's clogged but idk how to unclog it.
Our sink kept filling up and almost overflowing and the machine was getting an FE erroe code with water still in the tub. I hope this works because the machine is only a few years old as in 4 yrs old

Water does not drain into the hose on my LG front loader. It’s been draining into the lint catcher instead. How do I fix this so that water drains into the tube again?

Does anyone know where the water from the pipe comes from and why it’s there? Why does it collect in the drain pipe?
Yesssssssssss!!! It worked!
Do all LG washers have this?
A genius in my house did not screw the filter back on at all. The washer showed "IE" meaning not enough water coming in to fill up and twice it flooded the entire area. Can flooding occur when this is left open and a new cycle is started?

Not being funny but did you remove the plug from the hose. Also the hose should be pulled out a bit (carefully) from the machine, it may have kinked when stowed inside the machine. It comes out further than this guy did.

I’ve done this now I have a massive leak with every wash, I’ve ordered a new filter and still have the same issue. Any suggestions?
Possible cross threaded when screwed filter back in? Or didn’t put plug back all the way in the hose. Would be my guess unless it’s something else.
@@EricH92 thanks for the reply, incredibly there was a very small stone where it screws back in. In the end didn’t need a new filter.
What i do is, i fold down a large plastic bag, low enough to slot under that part of the washing machine, and open the plastic cover over it and then just open the trap... Water flows over the cover into the bag.
I've only had my LG for three months and started to try to clean the drain pump today for the first time. When I undid the little hose so much water came out it filled up the shallow tray that I selected from watching several videos. So I put the plug back in. Next, I opened the filter. Big mistake. More water started coming out of there. So I closed it quickly. None of the videos ever show that quarts of water could come out.
Water is still coming out from the small house.? Why'sthat.?

I drained the house but when I open the bigger part alot of water comes out and on the floor
What does it mean when I empty I the drain hose and almost a cup of water comes out after each wash?
It means the washer is working properly. It has a sump, which retains water like a dishwasher, it’s to keep the seals from rotting. It technically never drains ALL of the water out, no washer dishwasher does.

I have the same problem. I think I am going to bite the bullet and disassemble the thing and do a thorough cleaning.
