In 1833, Jonsereds started in a little town called Jonsered, which is outside of Gothenburg. In the beginning, Jonsereds was primarily in the textile industry, however, they made various other products throughout the years in their mechanical workshops. In time, they also produced a variety of different machines for the wood industries. At this time they called themselves "Jonsereds Fabriker" or "Jonsereds Factories". Although in the town of Jonsered, they called themselves "Jonsereds", with an "s", because there were many different factories. The name "Jonsereds" was used until sometime in 1985 when the "s" was dropped for marketing reasons, and it was then that "Jonsereds" became "Jonsered". You will notice this on the labels on the saws too ! If your saw says "Jonsereds" , it is pre-1985.
The Jonsereds factory practically owned the entire village of Jonsered. They owned the factories, of course, but also owned the houses where the employees lived and paid rent. They even owned the local school and church !!
For years Jonsereds was busy in the textile industry as well as in making woodworking machines, but, no chainsaws!

the beginning of the 1950's, a distributor in Stockholm was selling a chainsaw produced by a Norwegian manufacturer. The name of this chainsaw was "Comet". The name of this distributor was "Como M&T BJerke" (Como).
In the early 1950's, Como approached Jonsereds and asked them to manufacture parts for the Comet chainsaw. Jonsereds agreed to do so. In time, Jonsereds took over production of the Comet in its entirety.
In time, after producing this chainsaw, Jonsereds decided to build their own chainsaw, but they didn't like the name Comet, so, they held a contest among all of their employees to pick a name for the first Jonsereds chainsaw. The employees of Jonsereds chose different names and voted. The winning name for the first Jonsereds chainsaw was "Raket" (Rocket in English). The name "Raket" was used on Jonsereds saws into the 1960's, except in Finland, where the Finnish importer of Jonsereds saws had built their marketing on the name "Raket". The Finnish importer, Elfving, used the name "Raket" until 1982 when Electrolux formed a subsidiary in Finland.
In 1980 Electrolux formed "Electrolux Motor AB" to consolidate some of the manufacturing operations of Jonsereds. This also included Husqvarna and Partner. In 1982, "Electrolux Motor AB" formed "Jonsereds Motor AB" for marketing of the Jonsereds product line.
Today Jonsereds makes Cranes for the logging industry both on trucks and in saw mills. Jonsereds still makes woodworking machines such as planing machines. They even make tarpaulins and offer this tarpaulin service in Denmark and Germany.

I've made it to 22:39 and just wanted to add that you can use an impact driver (DRIVER! Not an impact wrench!) with your clutch removal tool and you can skip using a piston stop. Much quicker and easier. To reinstall just pull up on the recoil rope a bit so it doesn't hammer against the starter dogs and you're good to go. And of course remember the clutch is reverse threads. Take care.

I’ll have to try the impact driver. Never have before

@@Man-Time It has worked like a charm on every saw I've used it on, again provided you have the proper clutch tool. So much easier and quicker with no piston stop or rope needed. Just remember to pull up on the recoil rope to give it some slack when reinstalling the clutch back onto the saw. Take care and happy wrenching.

Go to wolf creek and get a pop up piston big bore kit and a unlimited coil. She does not look to terrible.

The 71 versions are supposed to have a one ring piston and the old type bar tensioning setup.
There are also minor differences between the two main case halfs, 71 to 72 just a little more metal in serten spots. other then that there basically identical..
    .
About 2010 was the end of the gen1 72s and the start of the strato air design, BS.....
    Other wize known as X-torque.
They have the compression release on top, with the blue choke lever not gray, on the emissions complaint 372s after 2010 or so

I hate piston stops, I have had them damage the piston in the past. I'd use rope if you don't have an impact driver and clutch tool.

Good tips. I’ve heard they can cause damage but never experienced any to the piston. I’ve also used rope with good results

You do realize that Husqvarna took over Jonsered in 1994 from Electrolux which owned Jonsered meaning your running a Husqvarna chainsaw many of the parts exchangeable
Jonsered 1954 when they made their first chainsaw, the XA.

Great guess! And I think the 2071 and 2171 are the same saw, with the 2171 being the newer version
