The reason the pull cord feels funny is that it has easy start. It winds up a spring with your pull then pops it all at once. If you try to start it like your arm is broken (pull like you can't start a saw without decomp) and it will start easy.

yeah, I literally have a brand-new pair of safety glasses on my face at all times. Because why not, I try to prevent things from happening if possible. I stopped working for this guy, because he never cared about safety he would literally flip out on me and call me a pussy because I wanted to tie a latter off when we were roofing a house. He said it would take to long, "your not going to fall'. Okay bud no buddy has ever fallen off a latter. Or working on electrical receptacles, I wanted to turn off the breaker. He once again flipped out on me. I said, 'well I'm not doing it then". Didn't have my multimeter on me, like who knows they could have it wired to 240v or worse ( I know unlikely) But you cant tell me that has never happened. Its not worth it. Especially when at the time I was making 15 bucks an hour. I will take calculated risks but only if I'm doing the calculations myself.

@@JakePlisskin12 I now work in Bulgaria doing construction/renovations, here in Bulgaria safety is not the number one priority, I do quite often have my concerns but just decide not to care, I am an 18y/o apprentice but I work with some guys who I trust my life to, especially a British guy who I work with is very involved with me doing sh1t safely. A few days ago we where working on a roof wherefrom the highest point was about 5-6 meters but there was no safety sh1t, if you slipped you’d slide down the boards and would have to be lucky to grab a crack between them if you don’t wanna kiss the ground. As you can see by this comment I lucky got down alive but it was my first time actually being on the roof of a house and that was quite scary. I normally am not to scared of risks and heights, I’ll even climb trees 5+ meters without being secured but on a roof there is little grip so it’s quite scary.
      My point is:
Dangerous stuff will always be dangerous but only if you are uncomfortable doing dangerous things will they become more dangerous

Thanks for this great review! I just ordered one. What a great price! The reviews on Amazon were great. I just cut a few trees around my home. I only have four gas chainsaws and two electric, so I definitely needed another one. 😁 $130 with the tax, wow, can't go wrong! My oldest chainsaw is a Homelite Super XL that I paid $300 for new in 1984 (a lot of money at the time). My most reliable chainsaw has been a Chinese Ryobi that cost $130 about 10 years ago. It starts easily every time and always runs perfect. I love your channel. I love running a chainsaw and cutting trees. There's something thrilling about having all that power in my hands. It's almost like an amusement park ride.

Jake, last fall I got some little yellow saw just like that. It was 12” bar , crazy useless file etc. I fueled it up and put it through the ringer, fully expecting it to not hot start. Or even start at all again. I was wrong, the lil sucker is a crazy one handed tool and it is almost my go to for light work and even some extended firewood bucking. I put an Oregon 14” on it and it’s got enough balls to handle some leaning on it.
It was about $100 and it was a hell of a surprise.

Qztodo? I have 2 (thats another story) of them and run them all the time for light stuff. The only functional problem I had with them was my fault -- in a rush cutting a tree top off a fence just before total dark, I got the bar pinched and ripped an AV mount (under the top bar). Ordered a full set of Zenoah AV mounts for $10 off ebay and fixed the problem when they arrived from China. I also have a 10" bar that I want to try on one, as well as a 14" bar, no reason in particular, just like messing with those little saws.

Yes, that’s the one. It’s a screaming beast. I thought my ancient Shindawa was high rev and it has a 14” bar on it and was my fastest, lightest saw until this guy showed up.
For those times when you don’t need the echo timberwolf , which is getting used less often as I get older and less enthusiastic about sawing in general. 😂 I think also a learning experience, see how much you can get done with the little buggers. Might be my imagination but I seem to get a lot of running time from a tank of gas too.

The main challenge with any cheaper gear is how well they will last in good working condition, not just a quick test run. May be fine for someone who want to get a small bit of firewood once a year, but for professional use, a risk, although a cheap one.

My Echo 400cs 18"is one of the most dependable chainsaws that I have ever purchased. I have cut right at 192 cords of Alligator Juniper Plus a lot of cords of Pine, Cedar and Pinon with it so far and never had the plug out of it yet. Works like a dream compared to my Six year old Stihl . Always starts on the first pull every time. Paid about $ 200 bucks for it about 14 years ago. I guess if it ever dies I might try that Pink Way.lol Keep up the good work Jake!👍

You can convert that to a side tensioner very easily. Look up 25cc chain tensioner on the jungle site. Trust me it fits. Remove the side cover / chain brake. Remove the 2 screws and plate covering existing tensioner and remove it. Take a 5/16rh Drill bit and run it through the side hole that is for the straight slot gear part of the tensioner. That will allow it to fit. Push that piece into place. It will be a TIGHT fit that is normal for that part. Install the adjustment nib / screw bit into place. Pro tip is to adjust the bit so that it lines up with the current adjustment you were using. Once you get it all in make sure there is plenty of grease all over every part of the tensioner including inside the plastic pockets. It will be VERY hard to turn at first. It should self clearance then work normally after you run it back and forth for a bit. I've done all of the chinese saws this way since I figured it out.

It's also safe to run these at 40:1 with high quality oil. That's what I've been doing without any obvious extra wear. That's my main complaint about these saws. They only have a 510ml tank so it goes really fast compared to at least 800ml on Stihl. It looks like yours actually got the 48mm bore cylinder (61.5 actual CCs FYI). That hump I could see on the side of the cylinder. It should have came with a small crappy but functional dog in the bag. Mine did. They have 4 actual sizes of these clones. Chainsaw Chainsaw (25.4cc) is the smallest Zenoah Clone. Then it goes 46.5cc, 54,5cc, and 61.5cc. The best power can be had from the first and middle sized units as the transfers really suffer trying to feed the bigger CCs.

You should try out the FarmMac (Neotec) F-380 (72cc Stihl 038 Magnum II clone). Mine came with 25” Bar and pulls like an old school Stihl 044. It’s a real Beast !! Only paid $350 free shipping. Walked right through several big trees and even cross cut the big hunks into small chunks throwing spaghetti noodles. Haven’t even needed to sharpen the chain yet ! I did upgrade to a better air filter than the one supplied however. Anyone with only a few big trees to handle occasionally would be crazy to buy an expensive Stihl or Husky in the 70cc range for well over $1000. The saw is now pickled with storage oil awaiting the next Hurricane or Wind storm mayhem occurrence.

    Jake,
think that's a great saw for a casual, non pro
The way the bar bent and the weird pull make me wonder how long it would hold up
    in pro use.
It's amazing for the size, but you have to wonder where the compromises are.:)
    Cheers,

The average homeowner buying a 800 dollar stihl to use it maybe once a year or every other year is throwing money away. They would be better off buying one of these.
