@@Actorclown the only other Priest reaction is an old BBC performance where they had to tone everything down because the BBC had set strict limits for the show. Not exactly the best representation of them.
She mentions the " cut through of his voice" , that is very important when you consider the band he was singing in front of. Most singers in the world would be drowned out by those guy. Among the best ever!

Listen to the Unleashed in the East version from 79’. The singing is unreal, a bit cleaner and more power then the footage here. He hits a crazy note on the buildup at the end of the bridge. But Rob is amazing anyway.
I definitely agree, though in all fairness, this is a live performance. From what I understand the recordings for the Unleashed in the East got messed up somehow and they had to re-create some of it in the studio... A lot of people consider it kind of cheating for a live album to have the vocal performance re-created in the studio. That said, it is an amazing, dare I say legendary, performance.
@@kevinmcfarlane2752 agreed. I personally think it is the best version I have heard. It's also the first judas priest song I ever heard. First version of the first priest song I heard.
@@FFVison Just finished his book, and yes he re-recorded it because the original footage in Japan was just god awful due to jet lag and general fatigue (he drank a lot those days). But let me say this, he actually did the whole concert in one go in somebodys living room over the original tape of the rest of the band (because they still sounded good). So its definitely a performance that deserves recognition.
Halford managed close to, if not completely, six octaves. Listen to the last verse of "Run Of The Mill" on Judas Priest's first album "Rocka Rolla". With success came more gigs and with more gigs more strain on the voice. As of 1980 Halford also started to scream more than he sung, which made his abilities deteriorate more and more until he seriously overdid things all through the nineties (going solo after having left Priest) with too many concerts and too much screaming with the result he couldn't handle the high notes no longer in the early 2000's. He's going on seventy now and somehow managed to regain some of his high pitch abilities while age at the same time made his lower register sound fuller than before. Thanks for the reaction.
He didn't sang as high on constant basis in 90. His voice just changed, he quit his low tenor in 1999. In 1988 he was on Peak. Maybe he pushed a bit too far on 1990 leg, but his ram it down voice, is back in 1991.

I recorded this concert on a rebroadcast back in 1983 on Rock Radio 98.7 WLLZ in Detroit! Then I saw them 3 years later LIVE at the Joe Louis Arena, once with Krokus and another show with Dokken....GREAT GREAT GREAT concerts! One more time 4 years later in 1990 w/Alice Cooper and Motorhead🔥🔥🔥
Beth!! So glad you did this song. Unfortunately this era, Halford was drinking heavily and his voice wasn't up to par. So strained and difficult. Any video after 1986 (when he went sober) is so much better! Completely different tone, truly effortless. I hope you can revisit this one someday. Has that ever been done before...? Well, this song deserves it!! Great video as always!

So many great performances from this 83 US Festival...this is just one of many!
Saw them live a few times back in the late 80's and early 90's. Still love this band. Early Priest is the best.

YES I wanted so much a new video featuring Rob Halford :)
What a singer!
Live at the US Festival 1981. Such a great concert. Priest were so amazing that day
The thing i love about you...is that its not all about the vocals. You are a rock and roll guitar girl at heart!
I remember this concert... the US concert happened right after I graduated HS in 1983 out on the west coast. I was lucky enough to see Priest live in this era many times... 1980 1982 83 85 (I think but one of the occasions was at LIVE AID right after this... ) They were awesome.
Been waiting a long, long time for this one. Thanks a bunch Beth! Fun fact, this song and Dreamer/Deceiver are on the same album: Sad Wings of Destiny.
You all remember when concerts were a thing? The World could use this more than ever.
Rob being Rob. How can you not love the metal magic?
US Festival May '83 i lived about 20 miles from the venue and went to those shows.... So EPIC!
I seen him do guttural vocals in painkiller front row. Flawlessly
Great breath control and knows when to blow it out or store air. Really great.
Finally some Judas!Thanks Beth!
She has some others I believe. Check her back catalogue of vids. 👍🤘
@@Actorclown ..I wach some other react channels too.Far to less Judas over all for a Legend like them! \m/
@@Actorclown the only other Priest reaction is an old BBC performance where they had to tone everything down because the BBC had set strict limits for the show. Not exactly the best representation of them.
I love Priest, all of their albums. However, I have a spot in my heart for the early albums!
Thanks Beth! I love Judas Priest
She mentions the " cut through of his voice" , that is very important when you consider the band he was singing in front of. Most singers in the world would be drowned out by those guy. Among the best ever!
I was there that day. Pure awesomeness.
13:15 the BEST part of the video! Amazing video, as always!
This is from the US festival you have to remember it was in the summer it was about 103 degrees and they played at the heat of the day and they were outstanding great show
Vocal teachers and coachs all love talking about Rob Halford
I saw them a few times back in the early / mid 80s. They were just incredible live.
I’m mesmerized by your explanations on your take. I play all instruments and you inspire me to play more. 🙏 thank you
Listen to the Unleashed in the East version from 79’.
@FFVision, we know - but fans don’t care. The end result sounds fantastic. It’s one of the only albums I listen to several times a year every year.
Try Love Bites from the Fuel For Life Tour - Halford's voice is unbelievable in this. The whole show is mindblowing vocally.
Please listen to Judas Priest- beyond the realms of death. Please!!
Hell Yeah!One of my favorites!
Their best live song for sure.
Rob Halford is the greatest lead singer ever in my opinion. It is incredible how amazing he still is at 70 years old. I saw Judas Priest two years ago, and I was amazed at what Rob Halford could still do as a singer. In my opinion no one will ever surpass him .
That was an Awesome video.Judas Priest is my all time favorite band.Victim of Changes is a powerful song.Great job.
Rob Halford King Voice Metal 🤘
FINALLY!!!! More reactions like this PLEASE!!!!!
Beth, it's great to see you rockin' out to Priest the way I did in my teens (and still do in my mid-50s)! \m/
Saw them for the first time in 1978 Santa Monica Civic Hell Bent for Leather concert. I was 13. Saw them again in 79 at Long Beach Arena and in 1983 at the US Festival.
