Hoping this kicks of a new Age of RTS games, it went quiet for a few years. Lets see the old classics come back, Age of Mythology, Rise of Nations, C&C
Not to mention RTS historical wargames. Total War battles are too simplistic, Scourge of War is kinda clunky while Breakaway's Waterloo and Austerlitz need better graphics and debugging.
This brings back so many memories, from my middle school years, spending hours and hours playing 1 and 2. To finally see the 4th installment, this is a dream come true.
Kinda feel the same way to be honest. The graphics don't disappoint me as much as the actual game mechanics and animations. They look almost identical.
& the siege weaponry moving itself around.... Or the Cav not riding through infantry but running up to them & then standing there hacking... A lot of holes from the High point of the franchise still not addressed
sadly and they also broke the promise of processing in the historical timeline instead they went back in time, was so hyped for WW1 or anything else tbh
@@hirola technically the last empire to officially end was the Portuguese Empire, when they handed Macau to China in 1999, though they were only technically an empire, and all the actual empires had fallen apart before even WW2.
Before you bash Age of Empires IV, remember this, this franchise was almost dead and found a lifeline through old developers and some enthusiastic fans. Support the franchise and we will see great games in the future. Definitive Editions were great. Support it and keep this franchise alive. RTS is a rare genre now.

Is it just me or can you see frames drop when buildings break? When the elephants first break down the gate at 3:38, they cut a couple times and it might be to hide the frame drops.

Yeah arrows have little trails in games since forever, idk how this design decision has even come to pass. Of course if you make units shoot proportionally sized arrows, they will be barely visible if there's no particle trail. But uhh.. archers shooting ballista bolts are a bit uncanny.

It captures the art style of the original pretty well. Heavily stylised.
