    Hi Tomo, Thanks for the videos, always great.
    But excuse me for this pretentious comment, but i think the name of the notes are : do ré mi fa SOL la SI do.
    And another thing for the arpegio, you say : "so do mi" (which in fact represent another thing ... :D ) and you should say : "soL do mi" to avoid any confusion.
    Hope i made you smile with this one :)

    Hi sensei Tomo, I really like your channel, you are really helpful for my growth and your positivity is a big plus for learning an instrument. I’m Italian and I have a funny question for you: why you pronounce the note “ti” instead of “si”? For an Italian is really weird to hear! Thank you sensei, you’re the best!

    • @TomoFujitaMusic
      @TomoFujitaMusic  28 днів тому

      So happy to hear that! We pronounce Do Re Mi Fa So La Ti Do in America so don't worry what others ways. This way we learn & teach in the USA. Thank you!

    • @unchitarrista
      @unchitarrista 28 днів тому +1

      Oh no I'm not worried, in Europe we say "Si" because the name of the notes comes from the first letters of an hymn by Guido D'Arezzo:
      Ut queant laxis
      resonare fibris,
      Mira gestorum
      famuli tuorum,
      Solve polluti
      labii reatum,
      Sancte Iohannes
      ...so instead of "Ti" it's "Si", Sancte Iohannes.
      Later "Ut" became "Do", which is for the latin "Dominus".

    I am wondering why a chord is written as 9 or 13, instead of 2m or 6m. Should I identify it by its highest note?
    Btw this is a simple but very useful tutorial

    • @TomoFujitaMusic
      @TomoFujitaMusic  27 днів тому

      Maybe you need to learn specific songs so that each song has those 9th or 13th tensions on specific chords. Learn this song " Feel Like Makin' Love " No need to be highest notes. For example, F13 = F7(13) could be X 6 7 7 6 X = X b7 M3 13 R X ... so 13th is not as top note! Great sounding chord!

    should you always start on "Do" even while saying like dorian which is technically "Re" or am I just overthinking it

    • @MichaelCrutcher
      @MichaelCrutcher 2 місяці тому +1

      You're overthinking it. In the context of the major scale, you could sing "Re Mi Fa Sol La Ti Do", but you do want to get to know the scale from the root note, so sing against an instrument (piano, of available), singing Do, Re, *Me*, Fa Sol, La, *Te*, Do. The "Me"(sounds like May) and "Te" are chromatically lowered.
      In C: Do, Re, Mi, Fa, Sol, La, Ti, Do: C, D, E, F, G, A, B, C
      C Dorian: Do, Re, Me, Fa, Sol, La, Te, Do: C, D, Eb, F, G, A, Bb, C
      You may also sing C Aeolian(Natural Minor): Do, Re, Me, Fa, Sol, Le, Te, Do: C, D, Ev, F, G, Ab, Bb, C.
