Fuck i want to destroy humanity
Hey, you know what? This will happen if men became women and women became men.
To make it even sadder, the calls have gaps which female birds are supposed to fill it in. It's a duet call. Since he was the only species of his own kind left, They played back his own recording and he still flew towards the sound though knowing it was a male call, because he was so lonely that at that point he just wanted to find his own people
That’s make it even sad😢
Yeah… that’s literally in the video lmfaoooo
thanks for repeating what we all heard in the video..
Are you serious? That was like…. The whole point of the video. They spent a minute pointing that out.
That reminds me of a short Story
A man after a tragedy Is left as the last human alive, but He doesn't know this So He puts a big help me sign on his 12th floor apartment window. After 4 years He couldn't také it anymore And prepares to jump out of his window. As He finally jumps He Heard his phone ringing And He Felt Joy but then He rememberd that He jumped And Is gonna die without knowing WHO it Is from or if it Is Real.

@@Naseem384 My carelessness for animals? I have two dogs and 5 cats and they are happiest animals ever because of how good I take care of them, please don't talk gibberish.
Just imagine. Every day you do the same thing. You shout for someone, anyone, to answer. But no one ever shouts back. You refuse to except that you're the last of your species. Every single day you cry out to a person who will never answer. Until one day the sweet release of death finally cements your kind into extinction.
Beautifully said. My dog just died, and we all gave her lots of love before she was put to sleep. I couldn't imagine her dying all alone, it would break my heart. But this bird, and so many other animals that are the last of their kind, just look for someone else, anyone else, but there is no one. And they die alone, their species erraticated. Forever. Extinction does happen naturally, but not at the rate that we see it today. We are the worst thing to happen to this planet, nothing else even comes close. It's so god damn depressing; makes you just wanna die.

This is one of the biggest motivation for environmental protection I've ever seen.
When you really start learning about the mass extinction that has been going on in the Hawaiian islands for the last 1000-1500 years (since people showed up), it's freaking depressing. When you drive around on any of the Hawaiian islands, more than likely, at any movement, every single plant, bird, and insect that you see was introduced by people. Almost all native life is gone. It's freaking depressing to think about. What a tragedy and great loss for future generations and the world. And we did it all in less than 2000 years.....
So many species has died before it. It is sad that they died but it was inetivable.
Blake Blast That’s the thing. We did not have to completely destroy the islands when we showed up. Mass burnings and deforestation. Then the cattle industry and sugar cane industry? Damn we messed it all up bad. And what a huge loss. I love going up into the mountains to just see a glimpse of Hawaii before people.
And so much just in the last 200 yrs.
@@chillstoneblakeblast3172 inevitable? Those species died of extinctions like climate change, asteroids etc. Do some research on earths history instead of hiding behind "holy" books
Youre an idiot if you think what humanity is doing is any different lol, humanity has done it. A single animal species, not nature or something. And nothing is "inevitable", that word doesnt exist, tf do you even mean by that? "Inevitable" is a word invented for lazy people, we can stop this extinction if humans become aware of what theyre doing, IF they have enough empathy to stop reproducing so fastly, theres no reason to have 8 billion freaking humans on earth. The total rabbit population isnt even a billion. This is what happens when youre too powerful as species, theres no example of this in world history.
Native Hawaiians respected the island. All the fault lies in sailors who brought rats cats and mongoose with them, species who aren't supposed to be on the island
Love how despite the bird is the last of its kind he still continues to sign hoping she will come
Just imagine sitting there, chirping away in sadness, hoping you would hear it back, just hoping something comes from the darkness of this world.

The editing in this version gives this video much more impact than the one on the main Discovery UA-cam channel.
The Kaua Moho was the last species of it's entire genus and it was the last genus in it's family. This male was not just the last of his kind, he was the last being on his entire branch of the evolutionary tree, there was nothing left on the planet that was even close to being like him. That kind of loneliness is unimaginable. No other avian family has had every single species within it go completely extinct in modern times. Different species of Moho lived on each island of Hawaii and their evolutionary cousins the kioea birds lived alongside them, but starting in 1800 (about the time Europeans started arriving to the islands in significant numbers and also about the time the native human population of Hawaii also got decimated by diseases) one by one they died out due to the introduction of foreign avian diseases and parasites, habitat loss, and hunting for their plumage. 2 hurricanes within 10 years of each other finished them off. They are all gone and that song or any song like it will never be heard again save for in recordings. The hurricanes dealt the final blow, but 95% of it was humanity's fault. This has become common in Hawaii due to having so many species that only exist there. A LOT of those species are gone now because the arrival of Europeans brought disease, invasive species, and people straight up killed them or destroyed their habitats. It is a similar situation on every isolated island or area in the world as humans have expanded and explored every nook and cranny on the planet, no matter how hard it is to get to or how little business we have there we feel the need to interfere in even the most delicate and tiny ecosystem. Even the large, continent sized ecosystems are suffering. It doesn't matter if there are millions or even billions of an animal or plant, we will find some way to kill them all. It is only in the last few decades that serious steps have finally been taken to preserve the few areas on this world that we have not destroyed, but it is too little too late. We are the locusts that will consume this world and we simply cannot control our own base impulses to consume and take and explore and breed and keep going until there is nothing left. In the end all we want is more. We can't even tolerate and respect each other, so we will never respect other life on this planet or the planet itself.
I keep coming back to read this comment, time and again. Part of me wishes that I had more hope for the future and fate of humanity over the long haul, but it seems to me that too much objective reality is distilled into these few paragraphs to get too excited about our prospects - both for our own sakes and in terms of our 'stewardship' of the planet, if you can call it such. More people should know this story and read these words. Perhaps when our collective shame reaches a critical mass, tangible progress will at last be within our grasp.
Thank you for your eloquent comment. I am an environmental biologist and I too fear it is too little too late. Not enough people care to hear about it, let alone change their ways. Early bird ancestors survived the KT extinction but most of them will not survive us. However , I will never give up. I will never stop advocating for the importance of the natural world and the respect we should have for it. I am currently teaching my 3 1/2-year-old grandson to appreciate the garden of eden around us. How foolish of us to destroy such an incredible gift.
I'm not reading all of that

The Kauai O O was the smallest of the O O bird species. Once native to Kauai this birds population dwindled as a result of habitat destruction, introduced avian diseases brought on by introduced mosquitos, and introduced predators. The final blow was 2 Hurricanes that came within 10 years of eachother, the first one destroyed all the trees while the second one prohibited tree growth causing the species to disappear until there was just one individual, a male which was heard for the last time singing for his mate who would never come, and seen tending to an empty nest, it is believed by some that this bird may survive undetected as it had already been proclaimed extinct twice, once in 1950, discovered in 1960, and then again until 1970, however it has a loud and distinctive call and intensive searches have failed to find any since 1987.
Didn't that one dumb haole from England kill 100s of Native birds in Hawaii for the Rothschild museum.

This reminds me of an movie shown while I was in eighth grade. The premise was the same except that male bird after months and months of searching finally finds the last it's species female. Understandably, and from the birds point of view, they began to celebrate their new found love in some sort of celebratory bird foreplay aeronautics, and it happens to be over a farmers field. Unfortunately, An angry farmer bursts out of his farmhouse, possible irked by bird foreplay moans and shoots them down like a stray Korean airliner that has strayed into Russian airspace.

I know that in the process of evolution it's normal for a species to face extinction. But this species died out because because WE messed up - not the birds, not the species, not the nature. It's our fault and all that remains is emptiness and sorrow.
That hit so hard to the feels with extra feels on top of it.
Just imagine. Singing, crying, calling out for someone who will never respond. They mate for life. This is the most painful thing I've heard. U hear the hope in his voice and how sad it is.
This audio clip was recorded by David Boynton in 1987. He was a lifelong specialist on the Hawaiian Archipelago, and to be the one to hear and record this final song from the last surviving male of the species, I imagine must have been emotional for him.
The birds hadn't been sighted in two years at the time of this recording, so to capture this was a really big deal at the time. After that, the birds were never seen or heard from again.
David Boynton died in an accident while photographing sea turtles on the island of Miloli'i in 2007. To the very end, he adored the islands and the animals that lived there.
Being the only one left it's just complete heart break ...he was hoping that he could find the love of his life but no one was left for him
