The opening was filmed at Arches National Park in Utah, they wanted somewhere with dynamic scenery.
Giving someone your hat is a major sign of respect. You take your hat everywhere and so there are a lot of memories with it, becoming a part of your identity. I’ve got my own adventure hat I’ve had for more than 20 years, taking it with me on museum digs and travels.
Oh wow, they must not teach WWII in school anymore. The book burning was a huge thing with Hitler. Sadly, the US started sanitizing classics like Mark Twain years ago. We’re getting closer and closer to what you saw in this movie. Sadly, not teaching the worst parts of history dooms us to repeat it.
You're so right, its sickening whats happening in this country
They probably did teach it, but I wasn't the best student.. and that was a lifetime ago. :)
@@NewfieMovieReactions 2 lifetimes for me. Lol
@@NewfieMovieReactions please react to The Mask Of Zorro (1998). It's my second favorite adventure movie after Indiana Jones & The Last Crusade.
Sigmund Freud once said (approximately), "Look how far we have come. In the past, they would have burned me. Now they are satisfied with burning my books."
This was the highest grossing Indiana Jones film to make $474 million dollars at the box office against a $60 million dollar budget.
It won the Oscar for Best Sound Editing.
Laurence Olivier was considered for the role of Henry Jones but he became seriously ill and passed away in 1989. Connery was cast instead and became good friends with Ford until his passing in 2020.
This is definitely my favourite one from the trilogy. There’s a fourth movie. It isn’t as good but has some really cool moments, an ode to the first one and a special surprise.
Another one has been announced coming.
We don't talk about Kingdom of the Chrystal Skull. There's only Indiana Jones Trilogy....
@@thejamppa lmao
Yeah, book burnings were a thing in Nazi Germany, particularly during the 1930s, and they were often organised by pro-Nazi university students. Thousands of ‘unGerman’ books were burnt, including copies of The Communist Manifesto and Brave New World.
I really enjoyed your reaction to this one. I love Raiders, but this Last Crusade is probably my very favourite movie from the franchise. Sean Connery is comedy gold!
Book burnings and bans are still pretty popular here in the US and happen on nearly a daily basis. Thanks to primarily right-wing Christian groups that are self appointed to decide what belongs in public libraries and what does not as well as what is suitable in school libraries. If you look at the books that are banned in the US, the list is pretty amazing. Especially for a country that screams freedom of speech.
@@nightfall902 Freedom to speak whatever my particular group/religion approves more like.
There's a "monument" in that square for the burning. It's underground, with a glass ceiling. You look down into the monument and there's empty bookshelves representing where the burnt books should be.
@@ronweber1402 Freedom of speech is a lot like the UA-cam video comment section, in that one can say whatever they wish with no regard to whether it's true or not. It's left to the reader/viewer to either verify information or just blindly agree. People don't listen with the intent to learn, they listen with the intent to respond. This is why there are so many repeated comments here. People don't want to read comments...they just want to make their own.
@@nightfall902 Do not lump all of us together. I am a right-wing Christian, and I would rather burn myself than burn a book, no matter what the book was about. I don't believe any books should be banned. It is up to each person what they choose to read. Though, the erotic fiction aimed at children from Friends rides the line. LOL.
Indy technically works for the university rather than just the museum. That is why he teaches classes there.
Rest in Peace River Phoenix you are truly missed sir🥺
A Night In The Life Of Jimmy Reardon is a good one of his.
I was an early teen when this came out. When Henry calls Junior, Indiana at the end, that acceptance is such a cool moment
"After all, we named the dog Indiana."
@@baskervillebee6097 he jokes when he know his son is safe. It's a great trilogy. We all take something different from it.
@@Deepthoughtsabound
Spielberg's real dog was named Indiana. 😏
@@baskervillebee6097 an awesome note
Great reaction! 😊
RIP to the late greats Sean Connery(Dr. Henry Jones) and River Phoenix(Young Indiana Jones)!
This is my absolute favorite of the Indiana Jones movies!
And there actually is one more Indiana Jones movie. It's called "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull". Not as great as the other three movies. But part of the Indiana Jones franchise. And it does have a few good moments. Definitely worth the watch if you want to finish the series.
Looking forward to your next reaction. 😊
Its more than tragedy that River died so young... Considering performance his brother Joaquin has made... Makes me think how many great performances we lost when he passed.
Yes! 🦁
Kingdom of the Crystal Skull gets a bad rep but it’s very good, too! 💀
It does my old (ancient) heart good to see a young man appreciate the classic movies. I was about your age when this came out.
This is the ultimate Father and Son Story and the third film in the Indiana Jones trilogy
Fun fact: The scene at the end when Indy's father tells Sullah that his real name was Henry Jones Jr. and says "We named the dog, Indiana." is an inside joke between Lucas and Spielberg.
When Lucas was a boy he had a shaggy dog named Indiana which ended up being the inspiration for Chewbacca the Wookie from Star Wars. Indiana Jones name was inspired by that dog. Like Indy, Lucas had a lot of fond memories of that dog.
Patriot Games and the sequel, Clear And Present Danger very excellent 90s Harrison Ford espionage/political thrillers! CAPD also stars Willem Dafoe!
Nobody has reacted to them yet, that I’ve noticed!
I didn't know you were from New Found Land and that it was the reason for Newfie 🤩 it all came together now!
Awesomeness 🤘🏼
If you look closely, you'll notice that Walter Donovan, played by Julian Glover, was the All Terrain Arnoured Transport (AT-AT) pilot in the Battle of Hoth in Empire Strikes Back, and Hitler, played by the late Michael Sheard, was Admiral Ozzel, also in Empire Strikes Back.
Yay! I'm so happy you're watching this one finally it's my favorite movie out of the entire series!😍
Elsa, let it go!
I thought the same thing when I rewatched this movie recently.
LOL
"I'm as human as the next man!"
'I WAS the next man!'
awk-warrrrd!
26:50 Bond. Father-son bond.
8:50 Innocent flirting used to be accepted up until around the mid-90s. That's when it started being included under the "sexual harassment" umbrella. Thanks Karen!
Have you noticed all the movies have one or two chase sequences?
The first one had Indie stealing the Ark from the truck, the second had my favourite one of the franchise i.e one in the mines and the third had multiple (the aircraft scene was the best).
11:49 I think the logic is that Petroleum floats on water. They don’t mix
_The Last Crusade_ is the best sequel ever made. I say sequel because, technically, these events take place two years after Indy's quest for the Ark. This film has literally everything you could want, and more. The pacing is also flawless, and we have Marcus and Sallah returning. What I really appreciate is that their inclusion in the story doesn't feel like forced fan service. They feel like they belong here.
We open with Indy's origin story. Turns out he was a bit of a cowboy, growing up in a state where the Wild West would have been thriving. Indeed, the early 1910's are acknowledged by most historians as being the final years of the era. We have plenty of Biblical references, with the Cross of Coronado subplot, Indy once again falling into a pit of serpents, and finding himself in a “Daniel in the lions den” dilemma - on a moving circus train, no less! What a setpiece!
We go globetrotting again, stopping at many exotic locations. Utah, Italy, Austria, Germany, Greece and Hatay. In beautiful Venice we find out that X actually _does_ mark the spot, descend into creepy rat-infested catacombs, and uncover the remains of a knight from the Dark Ages. We also get a nice reference to Indy's earlier discovery of the Ark. After a heart-pounding boat chase through the Venetian waterways, we arrive at a gothic castle in Austria, where Indy revives the grand old tradition of jousting - with motorbikes!
Next we take a detour to Berlin, where Indy comes face to face with the Führer himself, and gets an autograph to prove it! From here we get a first class ride aboard an airship, followed by a dogfight over the Greek coast, where Indy and his dad haphazardly take down two fighter planes.
No sooner have we got our feet back on the ground, we're venturing into the deserts of Arabia. At the Sultan of Hatay's palace, Donovan negotiates for an expedition across the desert to the Canyon of the Crescent Moon while Indy and Henry meet up with Sallah at Iskenderun. We then come to my favourite action sequence of the entire series, the tank chase. Indy, on horseback, takes on an entourage of German and Hatay soldiers and their WW1 era tank - a relic in itself!
Finally we arrive at our destination, where Indy faces his toughest challenge yet. Donovan is betrayed by Elsa, and pretty much turns into a zombie. Who would have seen that coming?! Indy meets a 700 year old knight and finds the cup of Christ, and although it is ultimately lost, Indy realises that the real treasure has been staring him in the face all along. The quest for the grail has rekindled his relationship with his estranged father. To top it off, we discover how Indy got his name. What more could you ask for?
Have I left anything out? I feel like I easily could have, because this movie is absolutely jam packed. I would say it's the greatest sequel of all time, because it delivers on every level and never leaves the viewer wanting. And of course, that ending shot! It's pure movie making magic, from beginning to end.
Even though there is a fourth movie that I don’t think is too bad (maybe a little corny), I have to admit this kinda had the perfect ending to the original trilogy. Plus I love the humor in this one with Indy and his dad.
Harrison Ford returns for the 5th India Jones movie in 2023..no plot has yet been revealed .
When I was younger I'd be SO excited whenever Newfoundland appeared on one of those maps!!
8:13 In the 1930s, they would have stopped in Gander, Newfoundland, which was a connector between the US and Europe. You see the line change direction. It wasn't until the 1950s that the new Jet airplanes flew non stop.
I like how we got to know about the back-story of his fear of snakes, the hat and the whip.
Also getting to know where you’re from, the naming of the channel and that you’re a Junior!
I’ve been watching you for quite some time but never got to know what your name is. What is it?
Ohhh haha I used to say it in my early reactions. My name is Eddie. :)
The other Indy had a cheek/jaw scar like the chin scar, too.
@@NewfieMovieReactions Oooh, I like that name
Ironically my dog's called Eddie...
20:08 _Austin Powers'_ Frau Farbissina is based on _From Russia with Love's_ Rosa Klebb, with additional inspiration from _On Her Majesty's Secret Service's_ Irma Bunt.
Ohhh okay thanks I have not seen those films. :D
The whole point of Indy's Dad being incompetent in action sequences is because he's played by Sean Connery, the first, and best James Bond!
I love how they chose the cast. I find it funny and ironic that the first James Bond was Indiana's father.
Check out Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. It's a solid Indiana Jones movie and it's definitely not as bad as some people make it out to be.
3:48 "Big Law" is always in cahoots with "Big Money."
4:14 That's also how he got the scar across his chin. That's a real scar, btw. Lots of great actors have facial scars and aren't afraid to show them. Other examples include but are not limited to: Kevin Bacon, Michael Ironside, and the legendary Bruce Campbell (the finest man to grace a silver screen).
10:07 IRL, a blow to the head usually results in brain damage or death. Only in movies do people just get harmlessly knocked out.
10:14 Two years before the events of this story.
13:28 Since Indy wasn't really the enemy, that means he got a bunch of his men killed for nothing.
15:09 That tie, though.
16:01 Unfold that stock, greenhorn! Btw, that's an MP-40 playing the role of an MP-38 since this takes place in 1938. Otherwise, it's an anachronism. MP-40s in "Raiders" were definitely anachronistic since that was set in 1936.
22:24 Did you ever see 'Army of Darkness' (originally titled 'Evil Dead 3: Medieval Dead' and known as 'Captain Supermarket' in Japan)?
24:46 We have to assume that he learned how since the events of "Temple of Demented Do0m" in 1935.
29:27 / 29:42 The Walther P-38 would have been new at this time. And no, 9mm Luger wouldn't penetrate like that.
8:07 Yeah... personally in primary school I had an Indy diary with maps on some of the pages, it was crafted in a very fascinating way.
It really was a different time and anybody would have flirted with Indiana Jones. I know I would have😁
I loved this movie! The comedic timing of the 2 of them was the best.
Easily the best film In this franchise
the map flight of the films was made, in cause of the set director of the first one, when Lucas and Spielberg told him that they went to Agypt, he asked if they would show the Sphinx they sayed "no, nust the streets" and he answered, "then no one will know that you are in Agypt! and so the Map flyght was invented! Unnessessary Film knowledge no. 2468 lol
The first three Indiana Jones movies were an homage to 1930s adventure movies. You've probably been told that by everyone twice already. The reason I'm bringing it up is that it help explain why Indy's attitudes towards women would be problematic today without being problematic in the movie. In 1930s movies, men treated women like garbage for the most part and it was all so "romantic"....
There are several commemorative sites that mark the book burning sites. It's seen by many modern German's as one of the most disgusting aspects of the Nazi regime. They can be found in Berlin, Frankfurt, Nuremberg, Munich and many other cities. There is a yearly commemoration of these ceremonies.
Indiana's Egyptian friend is Gimli the Dwarf from Lord of the Rings.
Loved all your reactions to the Indy-movies. I grew up with them and have watched them more times than I can count. I liked that you said "I liked the whole Indy-series". So if you ever hear any rumors about a fourth movie, just ignore it.
37:53 You could say that Elsa couldn't "let it go" huh?
I am soooo dumb...I've watched this film countless times and never twigged that Elsa gave Donovan a the wrong grail on purpose until now!!! SOOOO DUMB!! Of course she did!!
There's actually a 4th Indiana Jones movie- Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Also if you're up for a tv series, there's the Young Indiana Jones Chronicles. It aired on ABC and is streaming on Paramount+.
Harrison Ford returns for the 5th India Jones movie in 2023..no plot has yet been revealed .
@@nightfall902 Harrison is in the 4th one as well.
"Can you translate the inscription?"
It's classical latin. Who can´t???
That’s why I think Henri Jones senior is Sean Connery’s best performance. We didn’t know he could be a goof before that.
But you should watch « the name of the rose » where he is the incarnation of wisdom. And make little history research first because as an American, I suppose you were never taught the struggles of catholic churche in the late Middle-Ages and wouldn’t understand the stakes of the movie right away.
It just occurred why didn't his journal get water lodged 🤔
Is it me or the young Indie looks like Dylan Sprouse?
Btw I find a lot of similarities between IJ Trilogy and POTC.
Also the characters of Sparrow and Jones are very similar. Sparrow being a little more clumsy (both love their hats, are masters of escape but keep getting into trouble and more importantly get betrayed by women🌚) Definitely my favourite movies franchises from Hollywood
You should watch Stargate. It’s basically a Indiana Jones in space, done by the same people who made Independence Day.
did you pronounce serenade like serenATE? as in Marinate?! HAHAHAHA! nice:)
Great reaction... Junior! 🤣🤣 😎
Just teasing 😋
I'll let it slide... just... this... once. Haha
@@NewfieMovieReactions love you're sense of humor! It was mean as good fun and you took it as such. LOVE your channels 😁
Still one of the best.. can't wait to see Harrison ford back one last time as Indy is going to be awesome and emotional..plus that Mickey mouse line , considering Disney now owns Lucasfilm! 🎬
i like your vids. idk how old you are, but how could you not seen all these great movies all this time? lol good for me i guess.
There is a fourth Indiana Jones movie. Kingdom of The Crystal Skull.
Thanks for the video!! See you later!! Stay safe.😁
A four film series and you've "completed by seeing only 3". INCOMPLETE, therefore.
Yeah I'll get to the newer one at some point in the future. :)

Hello! 🙂If you enjoyed the Hunger Games series I think you will also like the Maze Runner movies (Don't bother with the Divergent ones trust me). Also w/ the MCU, are you going to do the Hawkeye series??? Do you like Psychological thrillers? Just wanna know what you'd like to do more of on your channel 😊
I've been putting Maze Runner on the polls for awhile now, it came close to winning a few times. I've done all the Hawkeye series, but only as watch along Raw Cut style on my Patreon page, because I didn't feel the series would be popular enough to edit for UA-cam. :)
@@NewfieMovieReactions Cool! I hope to see the Maze Runner series one day! I just recently subbed and watched all the Falcon & W.S. reactions & all the Loki reactions! Great stuff!

Are you not going to watch the 4th movie? Its one of my favourites from the series

No, you haven't completed anything. Or, you can let everyone else tell you want to think and avoid #4. Don't do that - see if for yourself, and enjoy the return to The Warehouse.
I will check it out for sure, I completed the original trilogy. Just at this time there are a load of new release movies coming out that I will be jumping on, but I do plan to check out Indy 4 for sure.
Please, react to the movie CITY OF GOD
There's one more movie in the franchise, if you didn't know. Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull. Honestly, a lot of people prefer to pretend this is the last one, though. Crystal Skull is not a great movie. Probably why it was the last in the series, but that's just my opinion.
Harrison Ford returns for the 5th India Jones movie in 2023..no plot has yet been revealed .
I can understand, a lack of knowledge about certain pop-culture references due to the fact that you missed a lot of movies, in the past. But how are you unaware of book burning in Nazi Germany. I feel like it's a very well-known fact, and common knowledge, that the Nazi's attempted to erase any history that didn't support or promote their cause, especially Jewish history. They accomplished this in different ways, the most infamous of which, is the public book burnings, where they would burn books about undesirable history, or any other subject they deemed detrimental to their movement.
Not only is this taught in school, but it's also been referenced hundreds of times, in all different forms of media. There have even been comparisons drawn to it, in more recent times, where radical leftists have petitioned to have statues of historical US figures, torn down and removed, because they represent a history that doesn't fit with the extreme, left-wing, woke narrative.
