Back in December I bought some 3141's from a Red Wing franchise that was closing. I paid $85 and i wish i would have bought 3 more pairs for inventory! I should have been wearing these shoes for my entire adult life! Best shoes i ever had.
Went to my local Red Wing store to buy the 8146 which I did, they are great looking. Turned around and on the the discount table they had the 8114 with the nitrile sole on sale in my size for $99. Of course I bought them. 😊
Wow! Now that’s what I’m talking about very very informative video on the red wing heritage boot line. Since I’ve been experiencing and learning it through visiting and trying the boots, also owning a couple them along the way. I can attest to everything you mention about red wing. Great job... keep those videos coming.
Dope review. I like the on feet as well. I’m coming around on the chukka. I think it might really like it. I found it interesting you said that you went up half a size from your blacksmith size. I’m just over a 9.5 on a brannock device. I wear size 9.5 in most sneakers. I tried on a size 9 Iron Ranger in store and I liked the fit. Not too tight and not too loose. They didn’t have any 8.5 in that store. I ordered a size 9 Blacksmith copper and I’m waiting for them to arrive. I definitely will have to try on the chukka in store before I purchase… I keep forgetting to ask you. Where do you get your replacement laces? Later.
I have the 3140 chukka. love them. very well made. very comfortable. I would have gotten briar oil slick but I have 8138 moc toe. briar is also my favorite by far
I would not use insoles with the 3141 because they already quite comfortable. BUT, with my other boots I use a custom Red Wing insole and I also use Dr. Scholl's
@@CJCook I like them. Comfortable sole! The leather was a little hard to break in but they're comfortable now and the leather is getting a nice patina.
I would love to hear you tell of how you became a boot man, your 1st pair of boots, how you came to be introduced to Red Wing, and your first pair of Red Wings!! If you've already done that in a video, please let me know!
First time Red Wing buyer! Love, love the Work Chukka! I am buying for my grandson for Christmas...so want to surprise him. He wears a size 11 in (not too narrow) Nike tennis shoe. He does have a wide foot! Can anyone suggest what size I should order PLEASE! Happy Holidays!
CJ Cook wow you went full size down in 3141 as compared to nike shoes. And i wear 13 EE in sandals. Should i also go full size down to 12 EE as there is no 12.5
i heard and seen some reviews thats these redwing heritage chuka 3141 boots runs quite larger in size as compared to nike sneakers or clarks. i wear Clark's Sandal US 13 and people who own these boots told me to go with 12 EE of Redwing chukka 3141 and these boots will still be roomy.. are they right? i am from overseas and here we dont have any retail store of redwing. can you help?
i don't wear Nike as they were US 12 size and never fitted me infact my feet never went inside those stupid nike boots so they are in my shelf for the past 5 years.. i wear Clark's Sandal US 13 but now i planned to buy these redwing chukka 3141 people are telling me to stick with 12 EE as these boots are very large.. what you say?
I have these and love em! I think you might be correct on the sizing. I wear a 9.5 in the 8 last and the fit is a perfection. I got a 9.5 in the 875 and the fit is pretty narrow and tight on the toes. My Work chukkas I got in a 10 and they are perfect. Next pair of Mocs will most likely be a 10 too.
Actually, I beg to differ. It depends on the shape of your foot. I use an 8D in #8 last, 8.5D in the Moc toes... And for the work Chukka, I found that the best fit was true to size as the Brannock. I have the Chukka in 9D. If I wore the 8.5D, my three toes wouldn't fit within the toebox and would rub against the sides. I have close to the same amount of these RWs as CJ. I think we have a problem.
@@CJCook it's the sole. It's extremely bouncy and squishy but still holds it's tread. I've heard it last longer than the traction tread, which is notorious for wearing down fast.
@@MrKrokodilDundee That is interesting. I find the 23 last way more narrow at the toe box than the Work Chukka, width wise. I agree, the Work Chukka does fit true to size but for me, the Mocs seem to too.
@@holdthatblaow I use the mocs with an insole. I probably should mention that. I find the length in the 23 last the same as the 8 last but the width doesn't work for me. I started with the Concrete Rough & Tough version of the 1907 and found the insole helps fill the volume properly and makes the 8.5D work for me. The standard Moc toes that don't have the insole just seem to voluminous at the front.
Treated myself to a pair of these last week on the first night of a week in London. Right outta the box they were comfortable. Went up half a size to my true size of 11. I wore them every day of the trip, something I could never have done with any other pair of boots. A little rubbing on my left, little pinkie which was remedied by wearing a pair of very thin merino wool liner socks under my normal socks.
I really don’t know who are those RW owners advicing me to go full size down in these 3141 because i wear 13 EE in sandals. But you are saying they runs smaller. I do not have any local RW store in my country so have to blind buy it
Huge Mistake! Got my first pair of RW Moc Toe 875 in size 9, fit perfectly maybe a tad big but cool. Watched your vid and ordered the chukka in a 8.5, way too small, too narrow, so I went for 9, same as my Moc toe and still too narrow. :( I have 2 pairs of new chukkas that are too small and I can't return, cos I got on eBay...you live and learn! Gutted!
They are very narrow, mine are also narrow for the size. Put them on with wet thick socks and try to wear them as long as possible. Or let them stretch at a shoemaker.
Mr CJ Cook! I’m having a hard time tracking down some Red Wing work Chukka’s in the olive 7.5D. I know you know everything about Redwing boots. Can you point me in the right direction? Thanks Bud!
Great video! I really like mine. Put some leather laces in them and think they look great. Bought kiwi leather lace ~$5 and was able to lace up my moc toes as well. (Just trimmed the excess and used that for the chukkas
I liked the video but I really don't like chukka boots maybe its a residual effects from Navy Boot Camp back in 1993 they issued us Boon dockers, which are a steel toed chukka boot black leather boot designed in the 1800's which we had to keep at a spit shine most of the time.We ran, marched, got beat in, and did everything in those boots. I got rid of them as soon as I could, when I got to the fleet I bought a pair of 9 inch Flight deck boots they were steel toed with a caped toe. They are a direct look a like of the Iron Ranger 8084 if they were 9" instead of 6". Keep up the good work love your stuff.
