  • In this video, I show you how to install Windows 11 in VirtualBox.
    Installing Windows 11 in VirtualBox is complicated by the fact that having a TPM and Secure Boot support are hard requirements to even just install Windows 11 on a PC, and the fact that VirtualBox doesn't virtualize either of these. Fortunately, there is a workaround, which I go over in this video.

    How are you? I recently downloaded the Windows 11 ISO and installed it in virtual box, but to my surprise the installation was complete and did not ask for the requirements that would be TPM 2.0. You know why? do you know if virtual box is emulating a machine that already has the required requirements?

      Well did you add the registry values that I told you to add prior to installation?

    Thanks for the video. I installed the system. However, I am unable to ping the ip address of the windows11 from outside or the host system on which the virtualbox/windows11 is installed. What could be the issue?

    • @DrewHowdenTech
      @DrewHowdenTech  Рік тому +1

      I don't think modern versions of Windows accept pings by default.
      Besides that, if your network adapter mode is set to NAT in your virtual machine setting, that will prevent machines other than your host system from reaching your virtual machine.

    Hi, i keep getting errors, i followed all your instructions although i have a newer version of virtual box. its telling me Not in a hypervisor partition and AMD-V is disabled in the bios (or by host OS) (Verr_SVM_Disabled)

      Go into your BIOS settings, and find and enable AMD SVM.

    Hey man, I just wanted to say I really appreciate this video. It feels like a huge leap for me on my path to becoming a cybersecurity professional. That being said, I’m having trouble doing the very last step, which was to “Insert Guest Additions CD Image…”
    When I click on it, nothing happens. No download pop-up shows up. Could you help me on this?

    • @DrewHowdenTech

      Are you sure the window isn't popping up behind your virtual machine, where you can't immediately see it?

      Just to verify the problem, does the VirtualBox Guest Additions CD Image show up in File Explorer in your Windows 11 guest?

      @anonymousanonymous5579 Рік тому +1

      @@DrewHowdenTech I’m sorry, could you repeat that but with a little less tech? Are you asking if when I click on the “Insert Guest Additions CD Image…” if it shows in File Explorer of my virtual machines’s Windows 11? If so, no.

    • @DrewHowdenTech
      @DrewHowdenTech  Рік тому +2

      I would manually download the VirtualBox Guest Additions CD Image from download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox, and attach it to your Windows 11 VM.
      To do this, click the link above, then select your VirtualBox version, then click on the "VBoxGuestAdditions" ISO.

    • @DrewHowdenTech
      @DrewHowdenTech  Рік тому +1

      Should work okay, though on install, in addition to the other registry values, you may need to add a value called "BypassCPUCheck" (in the same place), and set it to 1.

    Hey, while setting up the windows 11 I ran into some trouble.
    At the point allow microsoft and apps to use location I coult not aceept or not accept it. It just showed the (confirm choice) but I could not make the choice so the confirm choice is greyed out.
    does somebody has a solution for this issue?

      (which could be installed just fine on my non virtual pc)

      Did you create the registry keys and values in your Windows 11 installer? If you did, try creating a "BypassCPUCheck" value, and set "1" on that.

      @@DrewHowdenTech yep I solved that thanks to you but virtuabox wasn't giving the best performance idk why, it was kinda laggy so I installed it via hyper v but hyper v doesn't support native audio so you have to virtualize it through vb cable and get the output by parsec but now parsec is having compatibility issues cuz my host machine is win10 and I'm trynna virtualize win11 😭 when does the problems end💀

    • @DrewHowdenTech
      @DrewHowdenTech  11 місяців тому +1

      In general, virtual machines don't have the best performance, but have you tried enabling 3D acceleration and jacking the video memory all the way up in your virtual machine's "Display" settings? Also, try changing the "Paravirtualization Interface" under "System" > "Acceleration". If you can, try allocating more CPU cores and RAM to your VM.

      When you boot up your VM, you should see a screen that says “Press Enter to boot from CD/DVD.” On that screen, you need to press enter for your VM to boot into the Windows 11 ISO.
