How my RAM, CPU cores and disk space allocation process would look like, if I choose a 32-bit Windows 10? How does it look in older Windows systems without support like Windows XP? I wanna use a VM for 32-bit programs from the 90s or early 2000s, that I won't force to run on my 64-bit Win 10. I've got 16GB of RAM, Intel Core 7700k (4 cores), SSD disk for my host with 42,5GB of 110GB left and HDD disk with 444GB of 931 left. What is the recommended VM setup for these cases?
For something like 32-bit XP, 1GB RAM and 1 CPU core will get you going fine. You can bump up to 2GB RAM and 2 CPU cores if you need some extra horsepower. Disk you'll need 4-6 GB for a VM.
After VB's latest update my GA's don't work anymore! I have Kali Linux and recently installed W10 as a VM and both won't use the Guest Additions. Do you know how to solve this? I tried reinstalling Virtualbox but to no avail :(
If you want your VM traffic going over VPN and its in NAT mode, the host VPN will protect the VM. If it's in bridged mode, you'll have to double check.
How would you do updates? Cause if you install a fresh os, say for surfing, and updates come. So you install the updates, make a new copy (fresh install + update 1) and then, ow...you were surfing, so instead of only saving the updates you also saved the cookies etc from when you were browsing, and then it makes your vm slow over time, exactly what you wanted to avoid. Installing the updates every time over and over is also not an option, cause then you not only use unnecessary bandwidth, but in time you're spending more time installing updates then surfing the web, especially on Windows. So again, my question: how do you do updates?
Does the vm use the memory and cores even when you log out or shut them down? What if my computers host so needs these cores back in the future am I screwed?
The resources allocated to the VM get returned when you close it out. It's just the hypervisor software that's borrowing it from the computer when it's running the VMs.
You're supposed to be able to move files from your virtual machine to your host by three methods 1) Copy and paste 2) Connecting to external usb 3) Creating a shared folder I've tried all three and haven't been successful. Then I tried it on VMware and couldn't figure that out either. Nice for security, but sucks if you download big files in your VM with a slow internet connection and have to do it all over again.
Is there any value in just downloading the Windows 10 ISO from the microsoft website isn't of using the "media creation tool"? Thank you so much for your videos btw

That is normal. Even though your VM has a different private IP address, it will still share the same public ip address as everything on your network since you are going through the same router. You would need to run a VPN of some sort on your vm to get a different public IP.
Hello Cyberspatial, I have a current Windows OS so I wanna switch my current OS to Linux , So how can I make it possible without getting loss my Data(Files, etc)?
Backup your data to a drive or the cloud. Then install Linux and restore. You can also use disk2VHD to create a Windows VM of your existing computer. Then run it as a VM on Linux.
hi sir.. what is the qualifications of ubuntu? my laptop is windows 10 4gb RAM 1tb hard drive core i3.. is this possible to install ubuntu 18.4 version? pls reply.. thanks
Hi Kenz, If you have 4GB RAM it will be difficult to run Ubuntu, since it needs a minimum of 2GB to run smoothly. Giving the remaining two to your host OS (Windows) might make it slow. Give Xbuntu or Lubuntu a try, you might be able to give it just 1 GB RAM and 2 CPU cores.
I am building my gaming pc with rhyzen 5(6 cores) and 16gb ram. But also interested in cybersecurity so for VM should I go for rhyzen 7 (8 core) or rhyzen 9 (12 core) with more ram? Can I play high graphic online games on VM? Or offline games too??
Afzal imam Some people have had success playing games in a VM but it’s a mixed bag. You’ll have to see if the hypervisor supports GPU passthrough. If it does, you’ll have better luck with an eGPU, since it will need to pass the entire one to the VM. VMs tends to do better with more resources. I like giving mine 4-8GB of RAM each, with 4 cores. With more resources it also lets you run multiple VMs as a home lab if you need.
Let's just say if my CPU has 8 cores and from which I hv given VM 4 cores so when I am not using VM so my pc will work as 4cores only or it can use 4VM cores also?
They're activated over the Internet, so no. Usually the copy of Windows that came with your computer you don't actually own the license to, it's OEM-licensed.
i couldnt install it completely , it shows an invalid settings detected that hardware virtualization is enabled although it is not supported by host system. what should i do ?
Aboo Zuhaib not all CPUs support virtualization. So it’s possible that you may be using a system that isn’t capable of supporting what you’re trying to do.
You can try Xubuntu or Lubuntu, which has lower resource requirements. You can assign 2-CPU cores and 3 GB RAM to the VM. This lets you comfortably run 3 VMs simultaneously.
In Windows 8.1 I can't copy the whole hash from PowerShell. First off all I had to go into settings and manually enlarge the window size to be able to see the whole hash. (I used the command Get-FileHash [fileName] if anyone is interested.) Then I tried copying the hash, but the last 5 or 6 something characters wouldn't copy. I tried pasting what I could copy in a .txt file and then copying the rest, but that didn't work either, it just repasted the same thing as before. So I ended up just manually typing the last 5 or 6 characters and then searched the whole hash in the hash list on vb's web page. Why is PowerShell this weird on 8.1? And also, why is paste [mouse right click] instead of [ctrl + v] ?
The stock Windows command terminals aren't as user-friendly as Linux ones. You can also upload the file to an online service that will calculate different hashes for you. Virustotal will scan and give you the SHA256 hash, for examples.
Hey! I love your videos) I have a question. Does virtualbox take my PC's resources permanently or does my PC share its resources only when virtualbox is running?
Yes there are smartphone emulators you can use. I recommend GenyMotion (Android), which requires Virtualbox. Emulators let you install and test apps safely without putting you phone at risk.
Fun Question: Is it possible to run a virtual machine on Windows 95 that is running Windows 10? Like, a virtual machine on an old PC that's running Windows 95, and the virtual machine on the Windows 95 PC is running Windows 10. Obviously this has literally no practical use (that I can think of) but it kind-of just popped into my head lol
If you're running on really old hardware chances are that the CPU doesn't support hardware virtualization. Virtualbox and VMware is also unlikely to run on Windows 95.
Md Salman Bash is the default command-line shell for most Linux systems. It’s a quick and efficient way to interact with an OS and lets you run many useful command-line tools. You can check out the playlist below for more info on how to use the command line. ua-cam.com/play/PLjNa0M2Ibommrf6J2sGwg7qN6lbbymy61.html
Thanks for the suggestion. Will look into it. It's not that different, a bit easier actually to use the VirtualBox, IMO. There are different "flavors" depending on Windows/Mac though, ex: Fusion v. Workstation
@@Cyberspatial It is not different yes, but when I tried installing the Kali Linux on VMware Workstation 16 Player, Kali Linux is unable to connect wirelessly. Tried other, the tutorials I found on UA-cam, but it seems VMWare does not support the chipset model used for Wi-Fi connectivity on my laptop.
@@griver007able It's mixed results if you're trying to passthrough the WiFi device to the guest VM. Imagine you're trying to run something that needs direct access to the WiFi? If all you need is internet, then configuring in NAT will make the VM think it's connected via a wired connections.
Theoretically files on disk can be recovered if they weren't overwritten. In practice, this is very unfeasible because VM's are likely going to overwrite things. Even if you use advanced disk forensics, it's not guaranteed the snapshot will be in a consistent state. If you delete the snapshot, it is difficult to recover unless you have backups of the VM. If you are referring to reverting to a snapshot, the current state will be lost when you revert.
Ubuntu is one of the most popular Linux distributions. The repositories are great and contain a lot of different tools for learning hacking and cyber security. Some configuration required.
Hey, if I only have 8GB of RAM and 4 CPUs, what do you recommend for my VirtualBox System settings for Ubuntu 20.04 and Windows 10?
David Chacko If you're on 4 CPU cores, you really can only run 1 VM at a time. Give Windows 2 CPUs and 4 GB of RAM since it's a resource hog. If you try running Xubuntu 20.04, you may be able to get a way with 2GB RAM and 1 CPU core to run it simultaneously

Emulators let you install and test apps safely without putting you phone at risk.
What kind of mouse and keyboard do you have
AnnePro 2, Magic Trackpad 2, Logitech MX Ergo Trackball. There's actually a desk setup on our Instagram page instagram.com/cyberspatial
I am using a windows system would I have to re install the windows to run the VM
No, you should be able to just install your hypervisor on Windows directly.
@@Cyberspatial thanks
where did you get the windows iso ?
Microsoft provides it. Process for searching should be in the video.
what is it called the holder of your laptop?

Fun Question: Is it possible to run a virtual machine on Windows 95 that is running Windows 10? Like, a virtual machine on an old PC that's running Windows 95, and the virtual machine on the Windows 95 PC is running Windows 10.
Obviously this has literally no practical use (that I can think of) but it kind-of just popped into my head lol
If you're running on really old hardware chances are that the CPU doesn't support hardware virtualization. Virtualbox and VMware is also unlikely to run on Windows 95.
I wish I knew this channel earlier
Better now than later!
This is great can you do one for Kali Linux?
Thanks for the recommendation. Will add it on our project list :)
can i install VM on an iPad Air (model A1475) ????
Don't think you can. Not sure if iOS would allow low-level hardware access to a hypervisor without jailbreaking/rooting.
@@Cyberspatial thank you very much ...
How do i find a download link for virtualbox? Do you have a download link for a version that works with windows 10?
I would like to use a windows vm as i would like to observe malware that works on any windows OS with a vm also
www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads
There's a link that says "Windows hosts"
Got confused and lost on....Bash? Please explain what it is..
Md Salman Bash is the default command-line shell for most Linux systems. It’s a quick and efficient way to interact with an OS and lets you run many useful command-line tools. You can check out the playlist below for more info on how to use the command line.

I'm using VM to virtualize a Mac OS in Windows.
this great now i can do dumb things in windows 7
Can you do a tutorial video for VMware?
@@Cyberspatial I thought so too. I did that and it work. Sadly, what I'm trying to accomplish is to mask my native OS by connecting through bridging.
Keep getting error of noting being able to locate package build-essentials
Make sure your /etc/apt/sources.list file has the main repository uncommented, and that it points to a valid URL. Then run sudo at update
Can the snapshot be recovered after deleting. by any means ?
Theoretically files on disk can be recovered if they weren't overwritten. In practice, this is very unfeasible because VM's are likely going to overwrite things. Even if you use advanced disk forensics, it's not guaranteed the snapshot will be in a consistent state.
If you delete the snapshot, it is difficult to recover unless you have backups of the VM.
If you are referring to reverting to a snapshot, the current state will be lost when you revert.
@@Cyberspatial wow, amazing info. thank you ☺️ , and lots of love, keep growing
arun panchal thanks!!
Vbox_GAs_7.0.4 no reaction. "run software " no reaction. nothing...
Thank You
Welcome!
What is I already have windows 10 on my computer?
You might be able to create an image if you want to virtualize your existing OS using disk2vhd and run it with Hyper-V
Hey can we use ubuntu for hacking nd cyber security ?
Ubuntu is one of the most popular Linux distributions. The repositories are great and contain a lot of different tools for learning hacking and cyber security. Some configuration required.
@@Cyberspatial but how do we get hold of those tools?
apt install
I was running win10 and a VM on a 2GB ram mini laptop now I have 16G and 8core cpu
His room is so fucking sick
bubbly asmr haha thanks!
Can i use vm on 4 gb ram?
Yes, but probably need a lightweight version of the guest OS like Lubuntu or Xubuntu.
I'm too dumb to do virtualbox. Couldn't passed Microsoft hyper-x thing. UA-camr knows his stuff.
