I've been ready to pull my hair out over this for several days. every guide was like "just go to the store and install gaming services" BUT THE BUTTON WASN'T THERE! Finally thanks to this video I went into the Insider app and it was actually joining the beta that worked for me. the install button reappeared and now we are gaming!
the other day half of my games wernt showing up on the xbox app but they were still installed on my pc but i couldnt play them. Then the games that still were there started taking me to gaming services and i have been trying for hours over the past 2 days trying to fix it. The powershell commands wont work and nothing else will either. Now all the rest of the games that were there are gone too exept for 1, idk why that 1 is still there but it doesnt matter bc it still doesnt work. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME
This guy is legit, I've tried fixing the gaming services bug where it wont install/download and or will always fail to download at 99% using every method online from google and other youtubers which came to no avail. thanks for the great tips, what worked for me was joining the windows gaming beta from the insider app, after joining it let me update gaming services and play whatever game I wanted without interruptions
BROTHER! IT WORKED! I just did the 2:15 part After typing in those and rebooting my device, error code shows up and it was 0x87e00196, basically the error means to re-install the Gaming service, it gave me a way again to type in powershell this code, Get-AppxPackage *gamingservices* -allusers | remove-appxpackage -allusers After that I clicked on a game I want to install, it prompted again to download gaming services, I clicked download, NOW IT WORKS! IT downloaded and my game is installing It even found my previously downloaded games too, unlike before it was just hidden or not appearing from the application. Again thanks Mike! I got a "cannot find path" error when running the command:" Remove-Item -Path "HKLM:\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\GamingServices" -recurse " along with the next one after that. How do I fix this?
If anyone else gets this error just continue into the next step of going to the store and hitting “get” on gaming services. Regardless of the error it still worked for me

I had this issue once and couldn't fix it with these method's. Have installed Windows 11 and 2 days later problem happened again. I thought what did I change? Wait! in the Xbox Game app under general I unchecked the start app on boot box. That's exactly what I did also when the problem occured the first time. I checked it again and also checked start app in the background. Rebooted my PC. Now Xbox App is working again without starting Microsoft services in the Microsoft store when starting a game.
I found a fix for people who did all these steps and still get brought back to gaming services. Close the xbox app and open up services and stop both gaming services and open back up the xbox app then play the game that wasn't working and if you see it opens and no content is installed then IT WORKED, don't close the game and open back up services and restart both gaming services and it will automatically restart your game. For someone who gets 3mbps download, downloading a game like halo infinite takes a week and this bug has happened to me at least 3 times now (I have lost all sanity)
For the people who still can't open the game, try the above method on a different game first (one that's working perfectly fine) then after, start up the game that isn't working.
Thanks friend, just installing the insider hub already worked because he sent me to microsoft store and let me install what was missing which was the xbox identifier Provider. I was able to log in normally from there on the xbox app
Guys I had the same problem I couldn’t open Minecraft launcher I couldn’t get into my games I couldn’t install Minecraft so what I did was went to windows settings clicked installed apps, searched for gaming services and went to background permissions and click the 2nd option which is “ power optimized (recommended)” and I got everything back I got to install Minecraft again and I can finally play again Hope this helps to some of you all

Worked, thanks! And that's weird idk why but when I install gaming services by my own the Store stops working completly, always have to uninstall the service with the command in powershell and immediately starts working again.

For anyone who has tried powershell commands, wsreset, regedit, etc.. and still have the issue I fixed mine by doing a windows 10 in place repair (using the iso method), It keeps all your files and settings. Follow the "tenforums" guide

My gaming services is already downloaded but it says I need to download it. It also won't let me change the download location or enable downloads/updates during gameplay

Anyone else have this issue before? Now downloading the insider hub, but idk if it will work or not. I entered the 3 strings and pressed enter after each one. Then tried to re install it. xbox app wont open now even after re installing. Microsoft tech support it is lol. This didn't work. I just get red text saying it can't find anything to delete.
There are multiple steps. If the uninstall script doesn’t find anything, it means it’s already uninstalled. So you go to the next step and install it.

That’s why you need to restart your PC when prompted or after the steps.

The Powershell option works for me, I forgot I deleted the gaming service on registry due to reason that I can't install games on game pass.
