Onboards from 2000 era is much better than today crap.....Perfect angle camera,50fps,only the resolution is low but its not big think.

It's way more intricate than that. Today's cameras have worse quality, but they allow them to stream the stages in real-time all across the world, unlike in 1999. The camera behind the seats is interesting, but the bonnet/dash camera shows way better the behavior of the car (as long as that crappy fish-eye effect gets reduced to a minimum), unlike the one behind the seats. At least today they are giving us both: watch Neuville's Ouninpohja onboard at Finland 2024 or Tänak's SS16 at Poland 2024.
Magic video of the best era of the WRC. Thank you so much for uploading event videos from the 1997-2000 era. The cars were beautiful, great liveries, multiple world champions competing (Sainz, Kankkunen, McRae, Makinen, Auriol), and enormous growth in manufacturers by late 1999 (Toyota, Ford, Mitsubishi, Subaru, Seat, Peugeot, Hyundai and Skoda).

I think Denis delivers the corner note on time initially but only adds the ice warning at the end of the repeat, and then Didier throws him under the bus mid-accident. Amazing footage, thank you!

He gives the corner alone. Driver print the corner and full power. And, after little time, Giraudet say ice! But the car is too fast for this type of road. Brakes a little on good road, , but ice arrived under tires, and not enouth grip.

Fun fact: The car that both Carlos and Didier hit according to the Canal + interview made with Luis Moya, he said that it was in fact Juha Kankkunen brother's car, the car that was used for him to train before the stage ("ouvreur car"). It went off and then it was hit by both the corollas.
Interesting. It's a shame that they cut all this footage from the official 99 season review and tv broadcasts. 1997 to 2002 was golden. I hated it when they changed the points system in 03. Made the whole thing less close. It's unwatchable nowadays. Zero soul and all the cars sound the same. In this era they all had unique sounds and howls. They even get less wages now. McRae was on £3 million a year to drive that focus. None of the drivers get that now. I think the highest paid is like 2 million and this is 26 years ago. Massive shame they took things backwards
@@GFY127 not only that, but a small puncture will rip the entire corner off the car due to the carbon fiber body.
Amazing they are even allowed to use carbon fiber as it's much more dangerous in Rally cars than the old tin sheet metal.

@@politicoinutil I'm French, it's Denis' mistake, he apologizes a few times in the video. He announced “verglas” too late.
He told him " you announced it to late". And the copilot obviously feels gulty and angry about his mistakes. Also he tells him " I told you before" maybe they spoke about that specific corner before the stage but the driver forgot
