Overpriced houses, not enough jobs, not enough rental properties (skyrocketing rents). A huge bubble will burst and people will move away again! Not worth the cost!!!

Housing costs have gone up significantly, it's not nearly as affordable as it was 2 years ago. However, I do think the prices are justified and will continue to increase over the next several years. Alberta has the highest overall migration and net migration among all provinces in Canada which is why I think these prices are supported. You're right though, if you are renting it's going to be pretty expensive and we have no rent control.

Is Calgary safe for a woman and is it easy to find a job there?

Too many people moving here and the unemployment rate is climbing, downtown isn't so safe anymore, unfortunately!

Depends where you are, like any city I would say it's safe for the most part but best not to be out at night alone and to stay in more public places. The job market is tight for a lot of jobs but for others there are lots of employers hiring. We have job shortages in construction, healthcare, and education right now. What do you do for work?

There are a ton of people moving here for sure... I just got an email from ATB Financial about an hour ago and they have some pretty interesting stats on employment in Alberta.
There have been nearly 84,000 more people with jobs in Alberta during the first ten months of 2023 compared to the same period in 2022. That's a 3.5% increase, which is higher than the national average of 2.4%.
What's interesting is that almost all of this job growth (99%) in Alberta has been in full-time positions.
When we break it down by sectors, the private sector is responsible for the majority of this year's job growth, accounting for 85% of the total increase. The public sector contributes 13% of the growth, and self-employment makes up the remaining 2.0%.

New Calgarian here. No problem if Torontonians & Vancouverites stay away! Give me _real_ Winters & “slower pace” any day.

The winters are nice, mostly sunny and dry but slower pace? For sure not in Calgary!
