How you car blows hot air, is that the coolant heated by the combustion of the engine, flows in and out through these 2 pipes here which are connected to what’s called your heater core. Air is blown through this heater core generating warm air for your cabin.
STEP 1:
The first check we want to do when the engine is COOL! (For an accurate read of the coolant level and safety).
Check that you have enough coolant in your car. Check at reservoir and radiator cap (if car has one).
If you coolant is low, it may not be able to pump up into the high spot where the heater core is.
STEP 2:
Start the car and let it run for about 10 mins until the coolant gauge reads in the middle.
If it won’t warm up, your thermostat is stuck open which is stopping the coolant from warming up and providing heat
If it overheats, then your cars water pump is bad, meaning no coolant will get to the heater core or other vital parts of the engine bay (don’t drive it like this!)
