The story of the First Caliph Abu Bakar Siddiq and the Faithful Companion of the Prophet Muhammad
Abu Bakar As-Siddiq (RA) was the closest friend of Rasulullah SAW and the first caliph in Islamic history. He was famous for his honesty, courage and deep love for the Islamic religion.
His real name is Abdullah bin Abi Quhafah, but is better known as Abu Bakr. He came from the Quraish tribe and was a successful trader who was known to be honest and trustworthy.
When the Prophet Muhammad SAW began to spread Islam, Abu Bakr was the first adult man to embrace this religion without hesitation. The title As-Siddiq (which is very validating) was given to him because he always confirmed the words of the Prophet, especially during the Isra' Mi'raj event.
After the death of Rasulullah SAW, the Muslims were confused about who would lead them. Abu Bakr was finally chosen as the First Caliph of Islam. After leading for 2 years and 3 months, Abu Bakr fell ill and died in 634 AD. Before he died, he appointed Umar bin Khattab (RA) as his successor. Abu Bakr was buried next to the tomb of the Prophet Muhammad in Medina.
