well i`m very sorry to hear this sad news of yours i hope that you recovered from your heart attack, but whatever you do next time your watching a fast show sketch or indeed any funny sketch please don`t try and see the doctor in said sketch because no doubt no only will you be possibly very confused about the test results you may also end up dying from laughter.
I love it too ,one of my favourite Fast Show sketches. However, it was stolen from a sketch by John Candy and Dave Thomas from a skit on The Dave Thomas Comedy Show in the late 80s on American TV.
@@neilmccormick2064 It's such a shame there were only 2 Doctor sketches. That character played by Mark Williams was hilarious. There could have been more they could have done with the character.
One of my all time favourite Fast Show sketches. Interestingly these were one off characters, and never appeared in any other sketches.l suppose the whole premise of the sketch wouldn't have worked twice. The Welsh doctor was a great character though, another on of Mark Williams' brilliant comedy creations.
@@jimbass1968 Haha. Watched the sketch and remember it now. Funny but not as memorable as the one with John Thompson. The Welsh Doctor was a great character and funnier than some of the other regular characters in the show. One that comes to mind was the trilby wearing environmentalist played by Simon Day.
But you must know there are lots of countries where the Brit humour has ringed a bell for tens of years. "On the buses" was a well loved family type show here in Finland in my childhood in the 70's; it got over 2 million viewers in a country of abt. 5 mil at the time. Think about that! As for me, went to see the Python movies in theaters, some very funny, but the next hit was the fishy business of Wanda. After that nothing very good stuff until the Fast Show. Boy, did it hit the nerve, big time! I'm just so grateful these snippets are nowadays available on the net. Still miss seeing the whole episodes one at the time, really laughing until it hurts, and then some... :-)
I actually prefer doctors like this - my previous GP had the bedside manner of a rapist ("... what's wrong with you now?"- it was my first visit in nearly a decade) but when he got down to business he didn't fuck around ("What do you mean you were suffering hallucinations and memory loss for the last week you were taking the anti malarial? Why didn't you call me you bloody moron! You were having a severe adverse reaction, you could have bloody died!") , whereas his replacement spoke like she was four and expected everyone else to be the same ("Sooooo you've a little grumbly tummy?")
Everything is so obvious. They ruin it right away. It's the love of comedy we see here. We are on a date. The first thing we do wrong: Will you marry me? Way to soon. Then keep it going. Repeat it tho it was wrong the first time. It's making fun of people who is making fun of people. Imitation is the greatest form of flattery. And then comes the nurse. She loves it to. Fun! We all love it. Brilliant. It's an art to show love this way. Hidden in this sketch.

The canned laughter didn't make this funny at all. I never heard of Fast show before and I will make a point of never watching it if this is the best they cn do.
Legend has it they're still fooling each other, trapped in a hell of their own making.
No, they both died……. Ha only joking…..or am I?
Mark Williams was one of the biggest talents on the Fast Show.
This is one of the best sketches ever!!!
This joke could possible go on forever
Or for a month.

There is one other sketch with the doctor in, trying his hand at chiropractic.

So British. We're an odd but brilliant nation for humour. Wonder how long it will continue.
@Butch 78
its already over, comedy is dead, replaced by awful cancel culture when something remotely edgy is brought up.

Contrast this with its origins (Monty Python) and the drop in standard is significant.
