His voice is the perfect mix of gravel and maple syrup.
I was going to say gravel and velvet. I like your description better.
I was going to say gravelly.
Bwahahahahhaaa! God, I hope you're joking about the maple syrup! LOLOL
Love that description!!!
On point description!
It's called a very smooth rasp. Rod has so many excellent songs. I can't dislike rods voice. Can't go wrong with Rod. Young Turks live is great.
As a father, this song always makes me tear up a little remembering what my kids were like as small children. Love this song (and most of Stewart's songs!)
Right there with you, man. I can't help but get emotional thinking of daughters and their journey which awaits them in life
ME TOO! This was the song my son and I danced to at his wedding. Makes me cry every time.
Me too, brother!
His voice is a velvet bag of diamonds being dragged down a gravel road.
Seen him 3 times , fantastic
The Killing of Georgie, First Cut is the Deepest, I Was Only Joking, People Get Ready, Mandolin Wind are some of my favorites from Rod.
The original "First Cut Is The Deepest" is by Keith Hampshire. Give that one a try.
Have you ever heard "I Just Got Some"? Hilarious in some respects.
@@fiddiehacked As a huge Rod Stewart fan, I have never heard of this one. I see a Google rabbit hole in my future!
Have always loved his "If loving you is wrong" and "Keep me hanging on" too!!
One of my favorite Stewart songs. .just makes ya HAPPY!!
This song never gets old.
you could maybe even say it's.. FOREVER YOUNG 😂
Made me laugh.
Rod Stewart's voice? Unmatchable & Indescribable. Unique.
The child in the video is not Rod Stewarts kid but child actor Alex Zuckerman. He played in the movie Hook as Latchboy as well and a few other shows etc.
The song was written with his kids Sean and Kimberly Stewart in mind who were 8 and 9 at the time of the writing because as Rod Stewart said in an interview "I realized I had missed a good 5 years of my kids life" due to touring and being on the road and so busy with his career.
This is a rewritten version of Bob Dylan’s Forever Young. Rod ended up crediting Dylan as co-writer, then donated the proceeds to charity.
His voice is one word, raspy. 😜
Rod Stewart is one if the greats
Cars represent the different stages of when, while we grow old, we still see ourselves as 'forever' young.
Rod started out with the Faces and early Jeff Beck Group. He then went solo and went on to be really popular. Early stuff like Flying, I'm Losing You, Mandolin Wind and the famous Maggie May.
Not his son in the video, but he's singing it as if it were so the sentiment is the same. It rings true because it's what we all want for our children. Britt, listen to some of his ohmage to the the American Greats from the past, the Album is the Great American Song Book. Songs like "The Way you Look Tonight".
Rod was discovered while Busking so when his team discovered a Glaswegian Busker: Amy Belle, they invited her to the World Famous: : Royal Albert Hall in West London to perform with him, soon afterwards. They sang "I Don't Want To Talk About It" and it is on UA-cam and rather lovely.:)
definitely worth a watch... even if you choose not to react to it.... Amy is so nervous (wouldn't you be) and Rod is, well, Rod....
Probably his best song after Maggie May, and 17 years later. So well written.
One of my favs too. It is a rewritten version of Bob Dylan’s Forever Young.
@@leannmiller7153 they apparently agreed to share royalties on it.
I remember listening to this song as an almost 10 year old kid as my late mother loved him.
This is my fav of his, with "I Was Only Joking" a close second.
Anyone who has children can relate to this song. This is my favorite song by Rod Stewart.
"Maggie May", made 17 years before this song, should definitely be another Rod Stewart song for you. Definitely great examples of songs about two different stages of life.
🇨🇦 You gotta try reacting to Bryan Adams, Rod Stewart and Sting singing "All for Love" ! 3 Raspies together LOL 🇨🇦
Yes. Good recommendation
Tears! Such a great heart felt song. I danced with my son at his wedding to this. More tears! Britt, you’ll feel it more as your amazing children age. I love this one, do more Rod! Love his voice. ❤
Rod Stewart, Bryan Adams, and Sting sing Bryan Adam's song All For Love. It is amazing. Bryan and Rod have very similar voices. This is a fantastic video
We just called it plain ol' SEXY in the 70's!!😂 But, I call it a whiskey, smokey rasp!!
This wasmy mom's song for me. I lost her before I had my kids, but now this, I Hope You Dance and Humble and Kind are my songs for them.
God had the wheel!
This was the class song for my high school graduating class in 1989.
I'm not really a rod Stewart fan but can't deny how good this song is .
Same. I've always been kind of indifferent to him. That said, this song is absolutely incredible. So simple but so good.
Holy crap! I have listened to this song forever and thanks to comments finally get it. He's talking to himself. I truly understand now.
You really need to do "people get ready" with Rod's voice and the amazing Jeff Beck
I’ll check it out!
That s gonna be a smiley face reaction.
Gotta listen to a serious one by Rod called The Killing of Georgie, Part 1 and 2.
There is a live version of this song where Rod is singing it with his daughter and its so sweet.
I think he has a whiskey voice. It just seem to fit.
I am not a lady, but if I were, Rod would be in the hall of fame wing of the PDC. I was fortunate enough to see one of his residency shows in Vegas. He is an awsome showman in a live concett, and his great American songbook colletction is fantastastic, especially since he is not born American.
Oh yes! Rod should definitely be in the PDC, he is older than many of your listeners but oh, how he makes me swoon. Tonight's the Night, Hot Legs, You're in my Heart, Have I Told you Lately.... he could sing the phone book and it would sound wonderful. Still performing at 79!
A lot of singers cover Bob Dylan, I can't think of anyone other than Rod who reworked Dylan's lyrics like Rod did here.
It was an unintentional theft.
They agreed that there was no foul, and shared royalties.
@@KWayne6756 i was wondering about that. The Bob has a reputation for being difficult so I'm glad they worked it out.
Awesome channel Britt. There’s another Forever Young, completely different song, by Bob Dylan and the Band. It’s on The Last Waltz concert film. Also worth checking out. Cheers!
Written by Sir Rod Stewart, Bob Dylan, Kevin Savigar and Jim Cregan. Produced by Sir Rod Stewart, Andy Taylor and the late Bernard Edwards. The late Tony Thompson on drums 🥁, Edwards on bass guitar 🎸, Savigar on keyboards 🎹, Cregan on rhythm guitar 🎸 and Andy Taylor of Duran Duran on guitar solo.
Stewart sings this song in nearly every concert. Great 👍
Suggested video 📹: Sir Rod Stewart sings Lost in You.
Rod Stewart "YOUNG TURKS" (original video) ❤
Graduated in 1989 and this was our class song.
There is a very nice live version of this song on UA-cam, in which Rod Stewart sings this as a duet with his real-life daughter Ruby.
It could be they're going down the road of life and the people they meet along the way.
Jeez, I finished college in 1988! *old as dirt*
You're just getting started!
I love, love, love this song. Little man is his son and is adorable 🥰
Edit
Oops 🙊
Just googled and kid is an actor not Rods son. He is adorable.
I think this song is soft rock .
I take the "traffic on the road" motif as representing people travelling down the road of their lives. Rod and his son are also travelling in their midst. I assume no one driving the truck represented the unpredictability of life - no guarantees. A couple of other great Rod Stewart hits were - You Wear It Well and Baby Jane.
The little boy is Not his son. Love him!! This is one of my favorite Rod songs and video. There is a lot of them to love.
Brilliant i love Rod followed him since 1970 👍👍
This is by far my favorite Rod Stewart song!
This was my high school graduation song clear back in 1994
Hey Britt, I just thought of a 70’s movie musical that YOU would love. I saw it with sisters, fond memory. Beatles Music , sung by the hot bands of the 70’s starring Peter Frampton and The BGees, I think you would love the music arrangements. Cheesy 70’s campy movie. “ SARGENT PEPPERS LONLEY HEARTS CLUB BAND”.. Aerosmith, Billy Preston, Alice Cooper, etc.
Rod's voice is what I'd call a smooth rasp.
Check out cinderella by Steven Curtis Chapman, find your wings by Mark Harris & humble yourself as a child by Jim Cole. I’m 63 now I have three children and four grandchildren, and there is a handful of songs that when I listen to them they will bring a tear to my eye.
Rod 'The Mod' is usually referred to as raspy. His voice is very unique and easily identifiable. If you wanted to find and meet women in the 70's, go to a Rod Stewart concert, women flocked to see him.
They still do.
Try 'Baby Jane' or the beautiful 'I Don't Wanna Talk About It' because you like how Rod sings the words melodiously
I’ll check it out!
Whats even crazier is that his little boy in that video is the same age if not a bit older than you sweet Britt
No dangers when you are young
Have you listened to Maggie Mae’ by Rod Stewart?
This is the song that my son and I have between us. It's all that I've always wished for him❤
Rods voice is ear candy. So many great tunes/hits. Try You're In My Heart, I Don't Want To Talk About It (895 million UA-cam views, live), People Get Ready (Jeff Beck on guitar), Da Ya Think I'm Sexy (disco), The Killing Of Georgie...it's a deep well of classic hits. ❤
Rod's vocal chord became damaged later in his career and he had surgery. It was never quite the same as the younger Rod. Unique voice, it was a great rock n roll soulful instrument.
Rod Stewart asked Bob Dylan's permission to take the same title and theme of Dylan's beautiful lullaby to his son. Different song but, so beautiful. Well worth a reaction.
His vocal is Rod's. Why certain artists are enduring
Saw him in Cleveland in the early eighties .There was a eight inches of snow and the arena was packed . Even the band had trouble getting there and Rod apologized and ran an hour over his normal show. EPIC. The man never tired for three hiours ,unbelieveable. good song but downtown train was better.
Bob Dylan wrote this as well as a few thousand other gems.
Awesome song, him and Jeff Beck collaborated on another song called there's a train a coming. Rod Stewart has one awesome voice.
You should review one of my all time favorite Rod Stewart videos, "Tonight I'm Yours". It's awesome!
I'll check it out!
Britt, what's ironic is Rod now has a reputation for being a soft rock icon. But he got his start in a hard rock band called the Jeff Beck Group. One of the first heavy metal bands. Check out their cover of Howlin Wolfs song I Ain't Superstitious. A great blues rock version of that song. He also reunited with Jeff Beck later in the 80's doing a cover of Curtis Mayfield's People Get Ready which is an amazing version. Rod also was with the rock group The Faces. Their most famous song is Stay With Me another one to check out.
Unique is the word for Mod Rod's voice.
Mr daughter and I danced to this done at her wedding
Hey my friend have you decided to do more Dan Vasc My heart will go on he made this song his own it’s not the old burned out version it’s a Dan song now he made it his own Masterpiece it got 100 thousand views in 24 hrs and he just made it to his 1 million subscribers at least congratulate him he’s a great God fearing man with a God givin Talent hope all is well have an epic blessed day
I love Rod Stewart
Jesus take the wheel!
Try "Downtown Train" from this same era. It's magical.
I’ll check it out!
It is a bob dylan song in case you didnt know - so really just a cover :D Never noticed the tamborine - I wonder if that was a nod to Dylan 😁
GOOD....REAL GOOD!!!!!!
Love it❤
Watching your reaction to the cars and trucks driving by and asking why the woman and child couldn’t be in the truck made me realize you might be too young to know about how riding in the bed of a pickup is one of the funnest things in the world. It’s not allowed anymore, but …yeah. ❤❤❤
Another 🔥 reaction
My mom always dedicated this song to me and wanted to play it at my wedding but she didn’t live long enough to see me get married
You need to check out more Rod Stewart ... If you're not familiar with him, start at the start with Maggie Mae!
According to Google What is the message of the song "Forever Young" by Rod Stewart?
By growing and going through the hardships that we experience as young people, we are then in turn able to give back to our children and future generations in helping them to grow and become better people. This is the perfect song for any parent to dedicate to their children.
p.s. The little boy is an actor named Alan Zuckerman...
This is one of my RS favorites, you should listen to “long as I can see the light” by Creedance Clearwater Revival…
Now you need to do Bob Dylan Forever Young to see how it’s done 🙏🙏🤷♀️
Hey Britt you have to watch this song bot the version of the great ( PATTY LABELLE) YOU WILL LOVEEEEE IT
Stay With Me with The Faces, You're In My Heart and and First Cut Is The Deepest are three of his best songs. Rod had to adopt a more crooner singing style after surgery on his vocal cords in his 60s.
You're the Best, You're more Enjoyable then the song!
He missed a lot of their young years due to touring so now he wants to see them grow healthy
Raspy. That’s the word I’ve always heard used to describe Rod’s voice. By the way, in 1976, KISS had a country-sounding song called Hard Luck Woman that they initially thought about pitching to Rod Stewart. Their original drummer, Peter Criss, had a raspy voice so they let him sing it. Now you gotta check that song out. Lol
There’s a live version from their album Alive II. 😁
You should check out “All for Love” , it’s Rod Stewart, Sting, and Bryan Adams. So good
Check out his version of " If Loving you is Wrong "
A reworking/rewording of Bob Dylan's '73 same-titled song. At first, Rod didn't acknowledge Dylan's song, but eventually relented & decided to share songwriting credit & profits.
What a guy.
Remembers me of a scene where I was sitting at the kitchen table with the girlfriend of a friend and her stepbrother making fun of Alphaville (another composition "Forever Young" + "Big in Japan") and saying something about "Big in Japan" like "It might be a big hit in Japan, but I don't like the song" - later on the stepbrother revealed: He is the leadsinger of Alphaville and indeed sold a lot of albums throughout the years especially in Japan. For me Alphaville fell in the same category of pop like Rick Astley (being more a James Brown and Oldschool-HipHop-Fan it wasn't my cup of tea, but I respect those people as musicians - which try to make some money).
The video is about us passing on to the next generations, not sure of the video ut maybe one of the first thing past down is vehicles. Remembering getting my.pops LTD when I was young. Very often it is our first car as a teenager. Just my guess
Young Turks please! Here for all the Rod Stewart reactions ❤
I'm begging you please please please do Love touch. Great song that I think you'll love. 🙏🙏🙏
Okay
Whiskey voice
Voice can only be described as Rod.
❤❤❤❤
Funny, because his early stuff was soooo different, Rod himself is clearly not Forever Young. But I still love this song - you've got a dad/son thing going on this week! I feel that Rod has a sharp, slightly raspy voice - and it works really really well.
Listen real close to Rod Stewart, and listen real close to Sam Cook, that raspy soprano tone Is present in both of them
