You're the first person I've come across who has said Homogenic wasn't cohesive. I must disagree. Luscent gave a fantastic review of the album. He really understood the narrative and sonic flow of the album. You should check it out. Homogenic revolutionized electronica and along with Madonna's Ray of Light, it helped bring the genre more into the mainstream. Homogenic is pretty flawless and is generally regarded as Bjork's magnum opus. Now that you've completed her classic period (Debut, Post, Homogenic, Vespertine), I would recommend Selmasongs, Fossora, or Volta next. The others are way more experimental.

All Is Full Of Love original version works so well within the context of the album, but the video version works just as much as a stand alone piece, specially with THOSE visuals. A rare case of an artist that's able to rework their own material to make it more accesible without sacrificing their artistry and creativity.

Listen. You’re not crazy. The first time I heard The Seer, I was in the dark with headphones on and I legit saw myself floating into the world of the album. I had adventures. I lived there for a bit. Great music can do that. Vespertine does that to me, parts of Homogenic, Utopia, Biophilia, Fossora. Happens with Radiohead. Hellfire. Godspeed You Black Emperor. Mogwai. Isis. FKA Twigs. I could go on.

This is my favorite Bjork album and one of my favorite albums of all time. I never really felt like there was an inconsistency in tone/style aside from maybe "Alarm Call," which feels like it could have been on Post. I highly recommend reacting to that one next - I think you'll see a very clear bridge between Debut and Homogenic. Also, I always associate Homogenic with Madonna's Ray Of Light. They were released within months of each other and explore similar themes and sounds. Obviously the Madonna album is more pop/accessible, but it's an electronic music classic. Really eager to see what you think of it.

You will break several times while listening :). Anyway, so glad you`re taking this journey with one of the greatest composers (who also happens to be a `pop star`) in many decades. Enjoy the discovery!

I adore Bjork's first four albums but I still struggle to make it through any of her post-Vespertine albums. I know fans love Vulnicura but I've never been able to connect with it. I think the song Joga is about Yoga. The "state of emergency" is the state of mind in which yoga is supposed to put you, a state of full awareness, full consciousness, full lucidity. And also a state of readiness. There's a reference to the "state of emergency" in the "Dhammapada" which is the ancient sanscrit book that contains all the teachings of Buddha. There its said that in that state of mind you awake to the mysteries of the details. The coincidences make sense, the riddle gets solved, and can understand the story of the universe and how it follows "the dot" (the point of everything that seems to be chaos). And in that state of mind all your hurt is healed.

I'd give this album 4/10. Found most of it boring and emotionless and her vocals are way too high in the mix which are extremely annoying. Alarm Call and Pluto were the only two I liked. IMO this album sits in a redundant space where there's always something much better to listen to conditional on a given mood, if that makes sense. Why even listen to Bachelorette or Joga when you've got Prokofiev or Rachmaninoff?
My other hot take is that I think the follow-up to this album, Selmasongs (2000), is her best album... maybe one of 0.1% of Bjork listeners that think this.
