My jaw fell on the floor when I watched the way that you figured out both the chords and the harmonizer settings! You are bad-ass Robert and in American when you say bad, it means good!! Thank you very much for this!

Holy crap! I was trying to transcribe these chords a couple of days ago, but I'm glad that I stumbled across your video. Those chord voicings sound spot on man! Good job! [also glad I bought an EHX Pitch Fork Pedal a few months ago, otherwise I couldn't play these voicings at all :) ]

Thanks, Drew … HAH! Pardon me for saying so but I’m sure you are wrong about me being the "only one" who "gets" Allan’s music. If you are right it would trouble me … a lot! *haha* ;) =) Seriously … We have to be many of "us" who are playing his music, as a living art form on stage. But hey - thanks! Really!!! More videos are comin’ up … from time to time. ;) =) All the best to you, Drew Robert
A very good point Rob, I suppose what I meant is that you understand where his head-space is at on a deeper level than many of us do, which is why you're able to reproduce his sounds and even his guitar tones. You're right about saying that you don't really have to have a rocket science jazz degree to enjoy his playing. When you take the time to learn his pieces, I'm sure you get a clearer picture of how Allan was actually able to talk to inter-dimensional beings;) All jokes aside, thank you again for making these!
Thanks again, Drew. Really. I’m still having a good time of playing his music. But still, after 30 years of studying and playing his music, there’s so much more to learn for me. I still feel like a novis in some sense … C ya Robert

Hi again, Drew. I have news for you: Later on this year, I will release two solo albums: i.) one solo double album, called Unidentified Guitar Object; an compilation album about my trio quartet between the years 1993-2004. Album 1 is a studio/session album, album 2 is a live/gig-album. Release: in Febr. or March. ii.) My first album from 2004, called Fragmentism Project (re-arr., additional music, re-mixed, re-mastered etc). Release: in April or May. Both these albums will be released on Spotify, Band Camp, I-tunes, Tidal, Youbtube etc. Three more solo albums are planned for the next 5-6 years. Wonderful tone on that guitar! What a beautifully looking instrument, too. None of the kitschy silliness of some normal extended range guitars you see all over the metal scene these days. I did not know that Allan used a pitch shift on the intro to this song - I had been tring to figure out the voicings and this makes total sense!

this is outstanding. I still do not dare to execute an allan song because of the high level of complexity, and I think that's where its magic lies. you take it to an even more extreme level with that intimidating instrument. but it's also a pleasure to see something like that. I personally try to adapt a small formula of extended chords using this theory, and it is extraordinarily difficult to achieve something coherent and that expresses a level of thinking emotion as is this composition. greetings from Chile

Nice piece of work and thanks for explaining what you were doing. Impressive rig. Did you learn guitar in regular tuning and do you still play 6 string? I ask this to understand better what you are doing as a musician.
Thanks, "Fusion Music". Really! - Yeah, I learned the conventional guitar at first. No, there is no playing on conventional for me, I only play this piece of guitar nowadays; "right or wrong" of me, this guitar is the only guitar I want to play nowadays. I’ve been through soooo lot of … "things" with this guitar since the 90s, so I really want to stay with it. That guitar is custom-made on commission by me in the mid 90s, and is my main guitar since the -98, after 5 years and about 7000 $. AND. It is the best quality guitar I’ve ever put my hands on. I don’t want to … "trade" that. Good explanation enough, "fusion music"? =) Most kindly Robert

Hi, J Walls. Sorry for my … delayed response. In short: the "top"/front of the body, walnut root; backside of the body, mahogany, the neck, mahogany in laminate with jacaranda, and the fretboard, African ebenholts, the head, mahogany in laminate with African ebenholts. Cheers! Robert R.
Holdworth's guitar work to me always sounded like a person with fast fingers but no understanding of theory or scales. Like, if you handed someone a guitar on an island and came back in 20 years you would have a Holdsworth. Countless videos on the man have not been able to teach me what you just did in 7 minutes. Everyone keeps saying genius this and master that. I think I get it now.
and which "theory of scale" are you talking about? Holdsworth was and still is a master of developing complex but beautiful compositions, using all his musical knowledge, that includes frequent tonal changes and a lot of non-tonal stuff

Indeed, I do... :-)
How do those chords even make sense??What kind of harmony structure is that?? Seriously, Alan Holdsworth was a legend.Respect.Thanks for sharing.
Allan’s voicings are so orchestral in nature. Beautiful.
That was badass dude. Absolutely nailed those chords and the vibe!

Ive always wished that pianists would play these tunes..just to get a feel for them on the keys
Gary Husband did just that, piano interpretations of Holdsworth’s stuff. It’s friggin amazing
You do look a bit like Terry Gilliam... :)
