What tuning is this? OMG I need to try this....not the drilling part tho ;)
What did it sound like before?
So what was the effect this had on the tone. It would have been really useful if you had recorded it first without holes then rerecorded it with the holes and give us the two track to run through some software that would allow us to analyze things like harmonic analysis and sustain in a rigorous way. BTW great playing!

I listed a few of your guitar-destroying experiments (like this, the Fireworks one, and the Farewell submerged in water video) to my friend and joked “This man needs to be stopped”, but honestly? Never stop. Your music is incredible and I can’t get enough of it.
It’s so dishonest though. Not saying he can’t play as he’s clearly a very good guitarist but he absolutely drenches the guitars in reverb and delay. I’m worried some kid who has no idea about post-processing is going to dunk his guitar in water and wonder why it sounds utterly shit.
@@UltimateWobbleBoss I think people doing dangerous things have a responsibility to put a disclaimer so that children don’t try it, but I’m not sure the same thing applies to a guy just playing a guitar. He’s already pretty damn clear that it’s destroying the guitar and that you shouldn’t try to do this, I’m not sure what more you could ask from him. Any kid that dunks his guitar in water and finds out it sounds like shit is going to learn about post-processing the hard way, but learning things the hard way is called “being a kid”. I just think it’s really disrespectful to Bernth’s skill to say that his music is “dishonest”. He put in all of the hard work to get this good, that’s the definition of honesty.
@@UltimateWobbleBoss Just to clarify, I’m disagreeing with you but I do respect your opinion and I’m not trying to imply you shouldn’t be saying it. I know people can be real assholes in YT comments so I wanted to be clear on that. I liked hearing your opinion, I just don’t really agree.

It's just an idea for a video. Obviously, it would be much better without the holes. But it's fine with holes, too.
Yes! We need to hear the difference!
It's not going to sound different. That's why he didn't do a comparison, it was just for clicks.
Then you'd realize that it sounds good because he's a good guitar player, not because drilling holes in a guitar is a good idea.
@lightworker2956 Well, yeah, it sounds good because he's good at playing the guitar.
I just wanted to hear what the difference the holes make with vs no holes since I'm not an audiophile and can't tell the difference. Having a nonhole comparison would make it easier to tell what drilling the holes do to the sound.

I like these experiments with acoustic guitars. A comparison with a "reference guitar" would add even more spice to the videos. An apple-to-apple comparison is barely possible in such peculiar settings, but still an attempt would be worth gold. All the best to your career and your channel!

I had exactly the same thought. A "before" and "after" would have been great. That said, it's a good tune.
There's so much reverb slapped on top of it, this is completely unrepresentative of the actual sound of the guitar, also wtf is this statement "sound holes enable strings to vibrate more freely" this makes literally 0 sense, the guy is good but the video is bs clickbait nonsense xd

This guy's the model of efficiency... This is how you play maximum guitar with minimum effort. Literally stunned by this guys ridiculously 'Work Smarter, Not Harder' play style. So little movement for the complexity that is showcased. Ive played for 25+ years and what he's doing doesnt even look real its so good....im going right now to re-assess the way im playing. I see what he's doing, and its brilliant. Even better, it is a learn-able (don't care if that's a real word or not it fits) skill! Just never looked at the fretboard that way! Weird. Thank You, my man with the dreds, that is killer stuff!
I'm a 20 year guitar amateur lol, leaning I pick it up and put it back down long ago. Now I'm back because my son is interested.
Let me ask, what dofferes in his fret approach or playing style versus what you are used to.
I want to support this huy because his vods are good, but I still can't tell "why" it's good and this may be where the answer lies.
Let me know.
I bet it doesn't work.. without pickups, amplification, and edits. It's just lots of hammer ons. Not to hate on him but just not sure how it's new, there are lots of players with this style that take it even further.
What I don't get is how is he able to get the hammer ons and pull offs to sound so clear on an Acoustic. Is this a light gauge of string and a lower action?.He doesn't seem to be fretting hard. I am really struggling physically to do this on my Acoustic that has a heavy gauge and high action.
@@guitarpaul3645 Probably light gauge, low to medium action. His right hand is heavy enough to make it sound crystal clear on amps
The word you were looking for is Learnable. So yes. It is a real word just there's no hyphen
Dude your guitar skills are absolutely beastly. Keep going man. 😎 Great playing.
That hurt at the beginning bro😩
I believe this wonderful sound is mostly due to the artist's talent. He is one with the instrument
NOPE, It's due to digital plug in reverb effect. Not drilling holes, not the "artist's talent." (except the artist's talent for CON LIE.) The wonderful sound you hear on this recording never actually happened in a room. It only happened inside a digital box. All credit to Lexicon reverb plugin.
And reverb. Skill and reverb. Oh and multitracking, lots of that going on.
If he grabbed any guitar in a store and picked it up and started playing it, you'd be blown away. He is VERY talented. Sweep picking is not an easy technique. His harmonics were crystal clear. His left hand is crazy strong to do the pull offs and hammer ons he's doing. If people hate reverb thinking it covers for lack of talent, they must really hate distortion.

Well, I really wanted to hear the difference before and after, not a pickup in an acoustic run through reverb. So I’ll have to disagree.
@@brendencarlson5220 I concur that the type and placement of a pickup determines a whole lot, even to whether some other difference makes any difference at all. I don't think I've seen such grace on the guitar anywhere else.. Instant subscription.
These random ass stunts keeping getting me back to your music. Its amazing
I don't see how the holes would affect the strings at all, but I imagine it increases the resonant frequency of the body. That would boost the highs a bit, boost the mids a bit more, and lose some of the lower range. That would make the guitar brighter and sound more detailed, which is what you're going for in this track.
You could probably get the same effect by using a smaller body or putting something in the body to temporarily make the cavity smaller.
Indeed, it is in essence a helmholz resonator, so the bigger the throat area, the higher its resonant frequency. The spacing of the extra sound holes may add some weird muting too
An equalizer would cover all of that
A short clip of what it sounded like before the drill would have made for a good comparison, though guitarists might catch the sonic change without.
Most importantly, the music is gorgeous! Looking forward to more classical from you!
Let’s guess that was the only target of this click-bait title - to lure people into it that there’s some kind of comparison - that isn’t happening @all.

Try picking up the drums first if you've never learned an instrument before. It's a lot easier to get into it and sound ok enough to want to practice more, I mean you can sound fairly good with your hands, a desk, and your own thigh.
There's lots of other percussion instruments the skills translate fairly well over to.

you basically got almost the same sound from the holes that you got from the water. sounds freaking amazing dude. definitely subscribed. cant wait to see more.
That's because most of the heavy lifting is in the post-production. The effects added to the recording like the reverb, the backing track of the strings etc. Without a comparison this is just tiktok clickbait on a different channel designed to wow the normies and impress those without music production knowledge
Im just amazed by how creative someone can get with music on a guitar
I have no idea if the holes did anything, but both the song and the playing are phenomenal!
Wdym? Can’t you see that the guitar usually doesn’t sound so full.
@@concernedcommenter8258 idk bout u but i normally cant see sounds
@@r3venge_j4k2i can hear how you look, smell how you feel, feel how you think, and taste how you sound.
Avoiding the "how you taste" sounds creepy, so I left it out.
1:42 the sound change is very palpable in this part so try to listen to it
These are the levels of acoustic guitar playing that I aim for.
Wonderful performance ❤
Dropping bangers everytime
Most of people came here to watch how the holes improved the guitar sound, I watched how you swiftly moved your fingers and played and was speechless 🤩
I absolutely love this, I can't get enough of this amazing guitar work. I've been a hard rock and heavy metal drummer for 35 years. It's rare to see such a amazing one of a kind guitar session like this. I would be honored to throw down drums to your guitar work.
Sounds great!
Damn this is amazing and I'm now your fan!
Dude... you come up with bangers, constantly! What a thrill to be in the audience!!
