I also have a big dog and it's great. I'm a little over 400 pounds and it holds the weight just fine. I've had no issues. Something to consider is the pedal assist and functions can be modified. There are others on youtube that can show you how but the pedal assist starts at a much higher percentage than needed. That's why when engaging you get a boost that you might now be ready for. Also out of the box there are only 5 levels of pedal assist but it can go up to 10 levels. I set mine up to have 10 levels each with 10% increase so I can manage the power better. This also helps when you want to cruise. The moped only mode will get you about 30 miles with my weight but a little pedal assist, significantly increases that number.

I own a Big Dog and everything pointed out by Micah here is accurate. I still LOVE the bike. It's so much smaller than the bigger 26 inch tire ones. The weight can be brutal, but like he said, it feels fine while riding. It's really sturdy with a wide, comfortable handlebar, though, I put a stem riser on mine to mitigate my hands from falling asleep (I'm 5' 10").
It's surprisingly easy to ride without battery. I once rode 5 miles without battery, and it wasn't too much of a burden. I got about 85 miles on one charge before, but it was because of slow speed and tons of pedaling. 35-40 miles is about all it will run you on throttle only.

Raising the seat for proper leg extension is nice to see on this type of e bike.

Good and informative. I have a himiway crusier and noticed the same uneasy feeling at first until I learned to change settings. Great seeing you test two at same time to get exact pros and cons

Looks like it has mounts for a front rack. Nice bike and review.

Nice video! Might be a cool bike to check out, the enormous battery is where it’s at

This review is spot on with cons; yes it is heavy and yes it surges. I don't need to lift mine and the surge does not bother me. In fact, when I use the throttle from dead stop I like that it jumps right into speed to get me going. So you get accustomed to it and it is not so much of a con as you can use it to advantage. I added nylon bags to rear rack so I can run errands. Probably better off road bikes but this is a great easy trail rider. I also like the brake performance. I pedal on 4th speed and I get 30 miles. To get 40 you will need to use on 1st speed only and pedal 100%. My hands also fall asleep with these bars. I had a Harley with similar bars and same thing. I need o add a riser. I'm 240 lbs. I also value it around $1800. I was lucky to find mine at $1500

👍🏽 They checked all the boxes except for the front shock-if it had the Cyrusher Kommoda front motorcycle style shock I would have bought one😒😒😒

I like the chunky look I'd buy it I'd just lay a board across the steps when taking it inside to avoid picking it up

Micah, I was wondering if you could consider the upright riding position, for older riders like me. You appear to be somewhat hunched over on this bike, which would be very uncomfortable for older riders. I'm still looking for a comfortable ebike that can do the very steep hills of San Diego.

They sell an extension because I had this problem. I'm overweight and didn't like the hunched over aspect but I bought the extentions, aprox $30, and I've had no issues since.

Their website still says mechanical disc brakes. The Mokwheel Scoria is identical to the Big Dog. The price of the Big Dog changes almost daily.

Anybody got the 250watt version of this bike ? I need a bit more oomph for the steeper hills,im hoping this is what im needing, the Nm is meant to be a healthy 80Nm ? Im in UK

The Meebike Gallop delivers a similar form factor with a 960Wh battery. Meebike ups the ante with a full suspension and a torque sensor. It was $1699 for Black Friday. They run sales off and on in that price range. It also has a 960Wh battery. We think you might like to check that one out.

For the amount of pedaling in your videos, you might as well call them electric motorcycles. *And my Juiced Bike has a level "ECO" that's below assist level 1. Does the Himiway have the same feature?

The lowest level is 1. And just like any throttle-enabled e-bike, you can of choose to pedal more or less depending on how the mood strikes you.

Yes, you could spend thousands of dollars on an eBike ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxUiL0GnyDjP32RJdd660sP8mZk4CRLTCJ and get something much higher quality. However, if you're looking for a basic model to try out eBiking this is a great choice. The assembly is easy as far as bikes go (took about an hour for me to do, I'm not an expert). All tools needed are included. I added the plastic mud guards you see and a more comfortable seat. The other reviews are correct that you're probably going to want a better seat (Giddy Up! Bike Seat is what I got - super comfortable). The battery easily handles a 2-4 hour ride if you add some of your own pedal power. I haven't even gotten it up to top speed yet - it is very fast. Components are not top of the line, but decent for the price and work just fine. It works great on dirt roads and singletrack and pavement although too heavy to do tricks or any serious technical mountain biking. I'm looking forward to using it a lot over the summer. Tons of fun!
