I was told to own a Hummvee I would need to have an out of state L.L.C. and maintain that L.L.C. with that Humvee licensed under the L.L.C. out of state to say Utah or Idaho to get around the California evil DMV! The wealthy uses L.L.C. to register their exotic Vehicles to a cheaper state to avoid California taxes. As long as the Vehicle is registered under the L.L.C. perfectly legal to drive in California with a California Driver license because it is now a company Vehicle under a out of state L.L.C. I check with a lawyer.

it is absolutely wrong because the CHP will stop you with your Utah number plate in will impound your Humvee.

As a guy who works in the Motor Pool. Can't tell you how many times a truck comes to us and we go to check the boots and the damn things are held down with Zip Ties. For the most part it works just as good to hold on, but it doesn't make it easy to get 'em off.
How to get it legal for on-highway use in California? I thought DMV only register it for off-road use.
Can't. CA DMV code specifically calls out these ex-military HMMWVs as not able to be registered!! Look it up.

I would love to have one of those military Hummer because of the suspension on them but as a disabled veteran on a fixed income it's hard to buy anything like that but I sure would like to have one

You need to see my electric mirror conversion. Mil mirrors only good if you have someone to adjust when needed. Electric mirrors are the sh!t. I lived and breathed HMMWVs for 20 years in the Army

I had a front brake line fail too. It rubbed through on the master cylinder. Easy fix but couldn’t have been bad.
