Thank you Ben Treece for the kind words, it's encouraging and appreciated :-) Lou
It would have been so nice if the last year cutlass 307 V8 got the treatment to raise the horspower . The last great hurray for the rocket !
More HP is nice :-)
Interesting very rare hurst cutlass I never saw a 1986 or 88 hurst edition I miss those old cars this is definitely a unicorn

Because they never made one. 84 was the last year. Doc tried to push for one in 88 and it never happened so he sold the aero kits that's what is on this car.
Nice, very nice! Classic Olds Cutlass! Great style, awesome Hurst inf, love seein the signatures, cool with the touch of gold in the wheels n beautiful shine on that black paint... complete with a mirror finish! Stunning.
:-)
This is definitely a fine example of this generation of 442. These cars are and will be collectors items.
I dont think ive ever seen one this clean
Im an olds guy through and through. Started with a 91' cutlass which was my first car and still my daily driver, but the 50's olds are where I gravitated towards and I ended up with a 53' Rocket 88.
With a 455bb slapped in it
The 80s were definitely a wasteland for performance cars, and even though the 442 and similar platforms were not considered high power or performance, i can really appreciate what they did in the face of all the compact economy cars and japanese brands flooding the market.
Having a new olds with a V8, T-tops and the 442 hurst/olds badge in the 80s was a pretty bold move.
Its a shame that GM pulled the plug on Olds, i really think in todays market they would have made a comeback, even as a boutique performance branch of GM.
Hi Reginald Fitzpatrick, Thank you for viewing and sharing your knowledge. Hope you see many more Oldsmobile's you'll enjoy on this Channel :-) Lou
442 is different from a hurst olds
@@koolkitties8552
This is true. I forgot most of these 80s cars WERE hurst/olds
I think they did make a 442 model.
Im not quite sure. Not my area of expertise
@@reginaldfitzpatrick8681none of this is even remotely true. They made a lot more 442s in the 80s then they did Hurst lol
Very rare & very clean! I also enjoyed hearing the tidbit about where & why Doc likes to sign his name. Thanks for finding & sharing this nice Olds, Lou!
Hi TheGunfiighter45acp, Glad you enjoy this rare & clean find :-) You're welcome, Lou
It's not rare cause it's no a real Hurst olds

Love the Hurst olds package on it and the " 180 hp" Hurst optioned 307 engine. Only had 148 hp stock !
Hi Fred Naught, Glad you enjoy the looks of this car & "love" the Hurst Olds package too :-) Lou
It's a clone it's not a real Hurst Olds
@@Wanous-hv7zo lets talk about your claim. are you an expert? if so i would love to hear more details about what you think is going on here, and with other hurst for that matter after 84
@@hextremelydesirable1648 I'll offer mine. It's not a hurst. The last production year was 84. Doc made a kit for the 88s and sold a few but thsts it. They never made a 86 Hurst.

Yes :)
Very nice ride I got a 84 cutlass making a 1/8 mile car out of it
Hi Hippie Miller, Glad you like this one, and hope yours turns out the way you'd like it. Lou
Those commenting this isn't a true Hurst Olds etc. are absolutely true but that doesn't mean it isn't what it is. In 1987 and 1988 there were Oldsmobile Cutlass GT's, which was put together from a certain dealership in North Carolina. These models had striping, rear deck spoiler, some had the 83 - 84 Hurst hood scoops and had a gold plate on the console with a production number. They varied in striping and decals as some had the production number on the door and some did not. I believe 407 Cutlasses with these kits were put together. These are fairly rare and well sought after when they come up for sale. If these types of Cutlasses are on the up and up, then it's no different that the Cutlass GT's
Thank you for viewing and sharing your thoughts.
Idt 407 of these cars were built. I think the aero kits were made in limited number and I know Doc himself converted 5 or so iirc. Cars and concepts did the 83 and 84 Hurst and I'm sure they would've been in charge of the 88 if it had been mass produced.
Exactly the cutlass gt were made in 1988 which were the last year of the g body.the cutlass gt looked similar to the Hurst olds 83/84 models
Clean 💪💪💪💪💪
You're right about that :-)
A true beauty, strangely its very similar to my 90 Grand Wagoneer in the engine compartment and light controls, etc i just have a couple more displacement inches to help the couple more tons of weight lol
Hi Dustin Pollard, Glad you enjoy this "true beauty" :-) Lou
If gm would just bring back all of the gbodys of the 80s they would sell a ton of them all with the ls based engine with their own division mixed in with it I would definitely buy one for sure💪💪💪💪

Yes, It's confusing to me. There were 442's and Hurst Olds built in this era. I think I see why Oldsmobile rejected this as an official dealer option.
@jayjaylenchase75 and cars and concepts converted them
What’s up with the three speed shifter all of those cars had four speed 200 R4s in them ??? I don’t particularly like the bench seat either but when it’s rare it’s kinda cool 😎
Hi Raymond Wilson, Thank you for viewing & sharing the details you see. Lou
Nice! A favorite car I owned in High School, which was likely rare in quantity built was my ‘78 Cutlass Calais, 305, 4-Speed, Carmine Poly with black bucket seat interior, no A/C, no Vinyl Top. I was the 2nd owner, dropping a L34 396, M-20 and 12 bolt in with nary an issue. These ‘78-‘88’s G-Bodies will always be a favorite!
Happy to read you like this car, and glad to read it brings memories of your High School days :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing.
This is a Hurst Aero kit, Doc Watson made these kits for the '88 Hurst Olds after GM wouldn't back the '88 Hurst Olds since it was getting rid of the RWD G-body carline. Doc had 160 kits made, 122 kits were sold for the buyer to make their own Hurst Olds. If it was installed on an '88 Cutlass it was considered a 20th Anniversary Hurst Olds and is recognized by the H/OCA as the last Hurst Olds. If it was installed on any other '81-'87 Cutlass it was considered an Aero Commemorative car. More information: facebook.com/88hurstolds/
Hi 88hurstolds, Thank you for viewing and sharing your knowledge, Lou
Hey you might have noticed the shifter is a three speed what’s up with that or is it when you ratchet it up into D does it automatically shift into OD on its own
Bingo! Finally somebody that knows what they are talking about.

What are those seats called? Bench seats? What trim & In what years between ‘80-‘88 do those seats come with in the cutlass supreme? As for the shifter next to the steering wheel? No shifter in the middle.
That would be a bench seat. Hmmm, not sure if they come with the Cutlass Supreme, however seeing how "plush" they are, I'd guess they do. No shifter in the middle.
@@loucostabile sounds like it must be the brougham

@@loucostabile The part that makes me really sad, I had so many good Oldsmobiles. They were just the best, ridiculously dependable and it was such a let-down when it went downhill like that.
It's not that I dislike the car. I apologize for being so crass, but for me it was like a crushing blow like when GM cut-out Oldsmobile. My grandparents bought Oldsmobiles brand new since 1962... they were never in the shop they were always kind of fast. So when I grow up I owned quite a few of them. I apologize if I came across that way.
Any one know were I can find that spoiler?
