Late Night Trip to Van Nuys, Then Teterboro - Pilot VLOG 072

- Here is a quick trip we did out to California and then to Teterboro. We had a great time hanging out with Francine in Santa Monica, and teaching her to skateboard. The time lapse video in the middle was our first attempt at this, so it didn't come out very good. My apologies, but the next one will be much better. I hope you enjoy!
Music:
Earle's Bar Room Rocker by Midnight North
Loved seeing Francine again ... and she has a great style skateboarding !!!
Always happy to see Francine and her buds.
Sean and John ??? That’s us!!! COOL AF!!!
Got chills, remembering the project entitled, ONE SIX RIGHT, THE ROMANCE OF FLYING!
There are lots of LA people out here that love your videos ! Keep up the great work !
Thanks!
If I heard you guys on the radio while I’m flying, I would freak out.
Great video !!! I get called out late at night to plow snow for the State of Iowa, and you guys get called out to fly to California.
How Cool is that !!:):) AWESOME !!!
I love when you guys go to LA. I don't live there anymore, but it was, and always will be home.
Very cool to hear ATC mention you guys. Thanks always look forward to your videos
I’ve watched enough of your videos to where I think I could fill in if one of you guys needs a day off. Great content as always. Thanks!
Awesome! We'll let you know when we need you!
Man, that was sweet. Dig it, celebrities flying celebrities. (I'll toot the horn.) Good to see Francine...and we got the magic word twice from Jon. That was a tough haul nonetheless. 👍 (Hats off to all aviators)
Chris Machaj - Yes Sir, the double "V", fantastico!
Excellent flight experience for someone who only fly's for fun. Worked for Disney way back when and got to fly in Walt's G-1 all over America. The pilots were so excited about the G-2 soon to arrive as a much-needed addition to the Disney fleet. This was back in the late sixties when Disney World was being constructed and speed to FL was really important to the excecs.!
Instead of paying attention in class I sit in the back and watch these.
HAHA! Just don't point that finger my way when you get caught!! Thanks though.
Happy to have Francine as my IG/FB Friend! :-)
ATC Recognition--Trends start out on the West Coast and spread outward from there. More to come. Great job guys!
I liked the time lapse. It gave a sense of route, distance and scenery flown. Better than jumping 4 hours ahead with an in-cockpit shot only.
Thanks...but the next time I did it was much smoother as I used more frames.
This is still my favorite “Corporate Pilot Life” night landings! A lot has changed since this video was made. Hope all is well with Jon at his company and with you Shaun at yours. Safe flying to everyone from Jeff at KLAS. Bravo 👏
Good to see the Princess again. Good video boys
What with ALL the great aspects of this particular video, Francine sticking her tongue out at Sean at the end was the topper! Another great vid guys! Thanks!
Moonwiz I missed that part, had to watch again. Jon pigging out, Francine being insolent gotta love it. If I had to babysit Jon and Shaun, at the very least I would be insolent
Vámonos!

You could see that yoke flying around even in the dark on that approach, nice job. Nice to see you guys outside the airport fence just looking at airplanes like the rest of us mortals.
Another interesting video! Plus Francine! Thanks for the entertainment.
Pretty cool when guys recognize you over the air!!

Thanks for the ride! Good show.
Exceptional piece of film making on this one. That close up of the PFD was exactly what I'd been hoping to see. Also nice to see that stretch of beach where you went boarding. I'm in London but I've been there and it brings back fond memories.
Great video! Enjoyed that landing at Teterboro.
Great show! Keep them coming
That NY APP controller was putting me to sleep. Holy cow. Love multiple uploads a week!
Gotta be a cool feeling getting a shout out on the radio!
I concur with the controller, great quality vlog, Thanks for keeping it pure in the cockpit stuff with no music.
Love the take off visor view (Front Camera insert). Good placement.
Sean and John - another great video - as a Private Pilot I love your CRM.
Great flights guys. Thought I heard your call sign the other night at TEB. Those late night calls are the cons of the Corporate Pilot Life for sure.
This is one of my favorites so far. Lots of action and an awesome shout out. Good job guys.!!!
Great stuff as always!
That's it. You guys are officially rock stars!
I'm based at Long Beach, CA so I'm a west coast guy and follow you. I used to fly rented Mooneys out of Van Nuys back in the '80s.
Awesome! Right over my hometown again. Got to see AF plant 42. Clearly could see site 4 which was where the B-2 was built. 👍👍

Love your channel guys !
Really enjoy your videos. Thanks for putting these out.
Sean, a long night but worthwhile and to see via a boosted board the sun and sand it will put energy in your step! Looks fun.
Excellent video as always. Its nice that ATC in LAX noticed you!!
Thanks for taking us along on your rides. They're all interesting - even exciting!
It's great to see a life I split off from a few decades ago. Sometimes I wish... but I would NOT like those hours!
Love to see the professionalism and teamwork. CRM did not exist except with certain PICs. Your way is much better.
Stay well, fine and good!
I really like the approach you do into Van Nuys at night. I have watched it many times. Everything is well done and safety is obviously very big with both of you. Excellent radio work and your resource management is awesome! Bravo!
Another great video from CPL! Loved the pictures of the beach and boardwalk in Santa Monica. The Emirates A380 landing was also great to watch. Francine looks like a natural on the skateboard. Loved the ATC shoutout. Apparently, you have some ATC fans on the West Coast. Great video and keep enjoying the Corporate Pilot Life!
Very cool video, I used to fly helicopters for LA City fire and we are based out of VNY at the north west end of the field. Nice to you guys in my area. I’m retired now, good to watch.
Heliophil ...Clark?
Great Approach in the soup! I Love the way you guys represent Corporate Aviation. You really are Ambassadors! Awesome that ARTCC controller is a fan. I would totally support your own reality show. I think it would be a Hit! 😎. Chip
Great video as always guys! Love it when ATC gives you a shoutout!
You guys are truly professionals. First class all the way.
Hope you get a shift premium on this flight...
Great job to the three of you...
Greaser of a landing at TEB! See ya!
Greeting from Edmonton Alberta. Excellent vids (and audio) and really enjoy the split screens on take off's and landing.
Love the ATC shout out's. You guys do put out quality content. Keep it up.
Another great video and flight. I love the shoutout from LA. You guys are famous. You need to relocate the plane to NorCal.
I agree...
You guys rock!
Great video as always. You guys are star's now. I thought the time laps was great. It was great being able to be right there with you the whole flight. Keep it up guys. Be safe.
Great video guys. You guys are the VIPs of the sky.
Jeremy Phillips thanks to Francine
You guys just Rock, nuff said! Thanks for what you do..
Awesome, I never knew but "plane spotting" is an industry unto itself. Have a friend that travels all over the country shooting photos of "first's, last's" and other unusual airplanes and situations. Thanks for the ride, cool as usual..
Ed Sunderland you know who's worse? The train spotters! Bring in an old steam locomotive and there's hundreds, if not thousands of em on route.
Hello from North Carolina, love the video and quality. You guys are the best. Keep up the good work.
Loved seeing Francine on the electric skateboard. I just got mine last month.
ATC comment made me smile too. Hey, we're friendly on the west coast (we're not ALL crazy).
Us in the West Coast enjoy having you guys out here. Great video and CRM between both of you. Come back to L.A soon.
Fantastic!!!! This is exactly what I have been hoping to see. A real ILS approach in real nasty conditions. You guys did great! Please keep em coming!
Lol. That wasn't nasty.
In more than 6,000 hrs of flying that was about as nasty as I ever want it to get!
you should watch someone who goes IFR training when the ceiling is right at minimums:
ua-cam.com/video/8o7ShZJZmhU/v-deo.html
Of the time I have as PIC (pilot in command), I probably filed 2/3 of my total time under instrument rules. I know my limits. If the weather was that crappy I did not go. No point in it. I have too many friends who decided they would take-on weather that they were not prepared to deal with. In many cases, their aircraft were also not prepared to deal with what they flew into. I never want to go to another funeral again. Everyone who not a professional pilot doing this every single day must know his limits. Those limits are almost always higher than minimums.
These fellows are professional pilots flying one of the finest airplanes to ever have been built. They are well trained to deal with most problems. No one is ever prepared to deal with all of the problems. But I watch them with admiration, as how they deal with ATC, traffic, aircraft systems and normal banter. They are really good.
When I was current in my Cessna 421 and 340 I could and often did fly into weather, if I knew that the conditions at my destination had at least a base of 350 feet and the visibility was at least 1/2 mile. If there was a line of thunderstorms around my destination, I would go and land where the weather was better and wait out the storm. I almost always was by myself or with friends and family. I am still vertical which is a heck of lot better than being horizontal dressed in a tux.
Real IFR, being bounced around, having to deal with ATC, aircraft systems and a complaining wife, ain't easy. Watching these guys is somthing to emulate.
Thank you David for your kind words. You are very correct that every pilot needs to know their limits. Jon and I have been doing this together for a while, and do our best to maintain the highest level of professionalism when flying. We attend simulator training twice a year where we fly multiple types of approaches down to minimums with go-arounds, while single engine, with systems failures. Even with this high level of training, when we get out there and have to do it in the real world, it still takes all of our focus to ensure that we make things happen the way they should. So to your point, know your limits, and stick to them.
