You made this sound simple! I understood it well enough, so that's nice! Like the longer format for the tutorials! They're a bit more in-depth with the explanations!
Great tutorial. This scripting technique is far more convinent than XSE. And I was blown away that there's a patch to add a lot of Pokémon and Items. I remember the days where I have to manually put in new gen Pokemon where in a lot times I broke my rom file.
I remember trying to add the fairy type like 6 years ago got the type in and effectiveness only to then require a a tool that was not available anywhere
You can set a distinct flag for each starter selection, then with later script events use if flag set commands to change the script, and trainer data, based on the starter choice
Pretty Great Tutorial. I would like to get 3 of each Starters. Assuming that i can choose option 1 three times then the choices will just be 2 and 3 until i get 3 or each choice, how do i get that?
Most of it worked out, but i didn't unlock the Pokémon tab on the menu, any idea what could be causing that? I entered a trainer battle to test and i recieved the Pokémon, i just cant look at it
Hi, I have a question and sorry if is dumb but I can just copy past the code and if yes, which parts? I guess I'll have to edit some parts of it too. Thanks in advance and sorry again for the question.
@@ShafirofVideojuegos click the Pokémon data menu right at the home of HMA, scroll to the bottom of the list and click the last Pokemon, then a + button will let you add more
@@kingcradi Sure, it sounds simple, but I think there’s more to it. When I add a new one, it copies the information from the previous one, and often while configuring, it generates a missigno (or more commonly known as ?????????????). I’m not sure if there’s something specific that needs to be done or something specific that needs to be adjusted, but thanks anyway :')
Just an fyi, HMA is A ROM editor, but not the best. Back in the day people used AdvanceMap and I definitely think HMA is better, but making a ROMHack is not at all easy. Decomps are better overall with less bugs and more support and customization. I dont recommend making a RH because itll take you atleast a year. I tried using HMA but not having gen 4-9 pokemon sucks. the lack of a fast search function and unique options to set you apart from other hacks makes HMA suck
HMA and binary hacking does not suck. The built in CFRU utility will give you gens 1-8 Pokemon, abilities, moves, items, fairy type and features like megas/dynamax. HMA makes editing more simple hacks a lot easier and doesn’t have the learning curve like decomp for us who don’t have much prior programming skills. Also the anchor data allows you to search for all the data you pretty much need to edit the ROM.

Great tutorials, friend! Would you mind if I add some to the HMA Wiki?
No problem haven!

How to add wandering Pokémon like the beasts in gen2
Thanks for the longer video really appreciate it
Good tutorial, but this is missing one thing to be a starter selection. It needs to also set your rival's pokémon based on your choice.

I only have 2 scripting videos lmao
my sprites from 209 to 239 are all coloured boxes
Yes they’re supposed to be, those are placeholders for various sprites of different sizes so can insert your own easier.
Thanks a lot
