  • Ramadan Mubarak!
It's the first day of Ramadan here in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and we are heading to Bukit Bintang Ramadan Bazaar to get some delicious local food! We love this area of KL and its really interesting to see how this area of the city transforms over the Ramadan period.
We seek out some local vendors and get some Nasi Lemak, Apam Balik and the famous Roti John!
Make sure you follow us on instagram: @Bevetravels
Thank you for watching the video and we hope you enjoy! :)

  • @DenizIman

Roti John is typically laden with mayonnaise & sweet chili sauce and that's why it's a hit among Malaysians, less to foreigners. We love sourness, spiciness & sweetness in our food as compared to westerners who are more familiar with saltiness. Thats why pizza with pineapple can survive here 🍍🍍🍍
But nowadays the variety has expanded you can try Roti John that might cater to your pallate better by requesting for blackpepper/barbecue sauce and go easy on the mayo & sweet chili sauce. There's also cheesy sauce in many places and some even have mustard sauce with them. You decide.

Breaking fast time is 7.30. Most office workers live outside the city. That's why it's less crowded as it gets darker.
Go to the one in Kampung Baru (Jalan Raja Alang) around 5pm. They even have archway at the entrance that says 'Bazaar Ramadhan'. if u want to wish people near breaking fast time it's 'Selamat Berbuka' (Happy breaking fast) 🎉

If you really want to eat a very traditional Malay food from diffrent State in Malaysia, you should go to Ramadan Bazar outside KL such as Ramadan Bazar in State of Pahang, Kelantan, Kedah, Johor and so on. There you can find rare Malay food that cannot be found in Ramadan Bazar KL. Enjoy your time in Malaysia.

One of the reasons Muslims fasting is to deepen and understand the feelings and conditions of poor people who live hungry or have no food. Therefore we will feel grateful to God and want to help the poor community. For example, we will understand how the people of Gaza/Palestine feel. So we feel sad and want to help them.

Tips for non-Muslims: It's best if you can hide while eating the food you have bought, to respect those people who are fasting. That's how the non-Muslim community is educated in Malaysia. Happy Holiday guys!
