It is a song that tells the story of an orphan who, no matter how far he travels or what he eats, he always has to live with the pain and loss of his parents. It’s like a sad clown with pain behind the mask. And good to know that the translation for Europapa is Eurodad. He made this as a tribute for his father with whom he watched esf as a kid. It’s very layered.
A 100% Dutch masterpiece. I could not be more proud (since ec soccer '88). The video, the storyline, the humor, the references, everything is Dutch and brillintly executed. Jury might not like it, but it will be the fans' favorite, for sure. Letsgooooo Joost, denk groot!!
Almost hardstyle yup, it's Happy Hardcore. 🤘
the prelude to hardstyle
He sings euroPAPA, papa in Dutch means father. His father died. That’s one of the reasons he pronounced it like that, and that’s why you see the burning picture in the end. ❤
This song is a tribute to his father / Parents who passed away. Europa in Dutch means Europe. Pa or Papa means dad. His dad once told him the world has no “Grenzen” which could be translated to both borders (Borders are a man made concept) or limitations (Many people create their own limitations in their own mind). This life lesson inspired him to have keep having an open view on the world and live his life to the fullest without putting limitations on himself.
After his parents died he carried a lot of pain with him. No matter where on earth he was (Germany, Italy), whatever food he would eat (Escargots in France, Fish and chips in UK, Paella in Spain), he still carries this pain with him. In the end nobody but himself could deal with this pain and he himself must find peace with his losses. Only going through the grief and finding inner peace would put a end to this suffering. This song tells the story of him as an orphan trying to do exactly that.
Him creating this song was a huge part of this process. The line with Stromae / papaoute (which Translates to: Dad where are you), is followed with the words about how he wants his parents to be proud of him. He used to watch Eurovision with his parents and told them one day he would be there performing. Which is what he now did.
The burning at the end is his way of (trying to) say goodbye to the burning pain of loosing his parents. Joost said about this: sometimes you have to let go of the things that are most precious to you. Where one door closes, many opportunities present itself. Mum and Dad, you will always be there for me, but I can't carry this pain forever.
12 points for The Netherlands, love the song. Party 🎉🎉🎉
🎉
Feels like you missed out on al the layering and references aswell as the deeper message that is behind the song..
The guy inside the car is Paul Elstak a famous hardstyle dj. Most known for his song rainbow in the sky.
Echt pas de 10e keer dat ik de clip keek dacht ik 'wacht, is dat Paul Elstak?' lol
It's a serious song, he lost his parents at age of 12, his father always told him to believe in Europe...and now he is telling his father (in heaven) that he has been in whole europe!
I suppose I missed all of that bc of all the comedic stuff going on in the video but the hook is still stuck in my head 🤣
Believe in Europe? Come on now.
It seems a fun and humerous video, but it is actually kind of a sad song, it is layered..
@@LocalBandSmokeout
Not necessarily Europe. Just that we're all the same and borders are just in our head
Thats not what his father said
Joost Klein is Groot! He dedicated this song to his father who died when he was 12 years old. His dad taught him that the world has no true boundaries. His mother died when he was 13. He is a HUGE inspiration to young folks, he is such a legend. The world needs more people like Joost. He has gone through so many challenges in life it is a true inspiration to see how he deals with it. Joost Klein is Groot!
Ga je dit overal onder posten?
@@maiden1520 niet goed?
@@maiden1520boos dat dit gwn een goed liedje is?
@@shiftwcupid. Nee?
@@maiden1520waarom mogen hun dit niet commenten dan💀💀 ze willen gewoon laten weten dat dit liedje over heel wat anders gaat dan je zou denken
The message in this song is great. The story he is telling really touches me. Both his parent died in 1 year. When Joost was 12 and 12 years old
The song has a double layer. His parents died young. His father (papa) is featured in the clip. Even mentioning, "papaoutai" (papa where are you), is a reference. There are many references to Dutch pop culture of 10-20 years ago. I have listened to it 5 times now and I am still discovering new tiny jokes, like referring tot K-pop etc.
It doesn't get more serious than this message.
This is the big comeback of the nineties music.
It's just a fun one. I wouldn't put it in my playlist, but it does make me happy when I hear it.
It’s a very serious song and meaning. Please take a good look at the text and essence of the song. It’s only brought to us in a “Gapper pop” way to reach the audience and bring backs the vibes of the 90’s (instead of choosing to pack it in a classic, ballet, rock or other type of mean stream way)
Its giving me electric callboy vibes without the screams. This is such a vibe
Check this song live on stage 🎉
This is ART
As happy as this song sounds, it's a sad song. Actually, he describes his life in a few minutes;
In the first verse, he talks about losing everything. An important part is the death of his parents when he was 12/13 years old.
In the second verse, he talks about how alone and lonely he is. He also says that he needed help because of depression and homelessness and apparently did not get enough help.
I don't understand the reference to stromai (bad in french). The leonardi da vinci (The Last Supper) scene may refer to one of his songs in which he sings that he is god.
The Black Guy with 12 Point is a UA-camr who made clips about bulling. Joost has been bullied, and look at him now.
If I remember correctly, his father once told him that he should keep writing poetry.
The house with the mill is the place in which he grew up (with all the shit) and possibly burning it down (like you can do in therapy), taking a new step into a new world without borders in which he can do whatever he wants.
Love❤the song. Its getting better every day. 12 points for The Netherlands ❤❤❤

Reaction plsssss
You like a song that is more seriuos than this? However it is like a happy song it isn't at all. If there is a serious song on the Eurovision contest, than it's this.
Very insensitive response. There appears to be no interest on your part in what it is about... Quite rude
I didn’t realize til the very end what it was about and was thrown off by all the comedic parts within the video. Apologies :(
Is there anything more serious than losing both your parents at the age of 12/13? Oh wow. You totally missed it, didn’t you! 😮
Its kind of a tragic song hiding in a funny sounding song
Try Skibidi (Little Big) or Hobo Humpin (Whale) next time... 😁
