+João Gabriel Their best album IMO. Of course, all their stuff is good, which is a real rarity for hiphop. Most acts have one good album, or two at a push - everything Tribe touched was gold.
I found out about this album maybe a year ago. I would be 6 years old when this came out so I didn't realize what I missed out on. Went in to the rap scene to late. Now I think this is my favorite album.
Samples: ATCQ - Check the Rhyme Cannonball Adderley - Untitled 0:30 Gary Burton - I’m Your Pal 0:38 Rufus - Do the Funky Penguin 1:19 ATCQ - What? (Vocals) 2:01 Best beat by J dilla no doubt
The Ummah is aribic for community. there was a host of cats that made beat even Rapheal sadiq was among them and deanelo but dilla made most of the beats
Yo my 15yr old is blasting this in his room right now. I'm shocked that he even knew anything about this. I'm a die hard ATQC fan I guess the shit rubbed off!
I admit I took this album for granted when it came out. All I did was complain about it to my cousins. But now its as precious as gold to me. What can I say, I really really really spoiled back in the '90s when it came to Hip Hop. Not anymore.
Landon Léo i hope tv one does an episode of unsung on the group a tribe called quest and I encourage you to go to tv one's Facebook page and tell them to do it
Make sense because most people who didn't grow on 90s hip hop don't realize how much good music it was back then. It was so competitive. Constantly releasing great albums, not all of them were gonna catch on. But listen to them years later, you realize how good they were with new ears
know that feel bro, back then that was, all rap was about ....love the sound the beats that real music feelin, fuck all the nowadayz crap mumple rappers....
✌ Peace and respect to A Tribe Called Quest and Tammy Lucas sharing their spirits natures richness by the attached joint's of entertainment's showing out and mimicking the art of made-up communications in ways that some people communicate or can understand and or can relate to by someway having learnt the art called words/English.😊
Tip and Phife are truly 2 of the most clever and dopest MC's of their time and in the history of hip hop. They spit so smooth that you almost miss all the shots they fire!! One of my all time favorite tracks! Oh to be 14 again in the 90's, best era of hip hop there will ever be! ❤❤
Vibin' i hope tv one does an episode of unsung on the group a tribe called quest and I encourage you to go to tv one's Facebook page and tell them to do it
That song 1nce Again was the first single produced under the name The Ummah - Q-Tip, Ali Shaheed and J-Dilla aka Jay Dee. Beats, Rhymes and Life was the last great classic album Tribe ever made but didn't match to their previous standards: 1990's People's Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm, 1991's The Low End Theory and/or 1993's Midnight Marauders. Such a underrated album and Consequence appears on Tribe's 4th release as an unofficial member. The connection between Tip and Phife was gone. Take from the late great Violator Chris Lighty said 'The Beats, Rhymes, and Life album was the beginning of the end'. It WAS the beginning of the end of Tribe. Otherwise, that video takes me back in July 1996 when I started going to sixth grade in middle school. 1996 was the best year in my opinion for hip-hop especially 2Pac because he was blowing until his last breath on 09/07/1996.
Although giving him a dream and a start, I can't help but feel the Ummah was a slick way to rob a budgeoning talent of his gift for the sake of the already established.
RIP PHIFE FOR REAL!!! I'm so sad to see hip hop die!! Check the rhyme!! I know you struggled with your diabetes/sickle cell since you was a kid which affected the group, but you were always loved and I wish peace to your family! x
Hear th@ bless, if 1% of the money spent on cancer was devoted to sickle cell research, we would have long seen a cure. Evidently, it does not appear to affect a relevant ethnic group. Tribes music will live 'til we're all gone. 1 love still.
If someone would've told me hip hop would not flourish to what it was before I would've never believed them. We were spoiled with good music in the 90's and didn't know.
lol I know where you from HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Fucking Brazilian hahahaha the most CORRUPT COUNTRY in the world, go back to your fucking FAVELAS ahah , you got Internet that's great I guess

Will never forget when this hit dropped out in Paris, went straight to buy the album. Next thing you know had to pass it the very first day to all the homies in my class. Album even finished in guys hands I didn’t even know in my high school. Everyone made a copy on a basf (who know what I’m talking about) then after a month the album eventually get back to me whereas I was already sure it was stolen…this is what hip-hop is all about : sharing the good vybes…MISS THESE DAYS

Rhyme in Peace?! Lmao, he's gonna shook the heaven
Rip Phife 🙏🏿🙏🏿💪🏾💪🏾💯
Phife is so underrated. People don't give him enough recognition
Who's underrating Phife? In the 2 decades I've been a fan of ATCQ, I've never met a fan who underrated Phife; or looked at ATCQ as Q-Tip's band.
Noiru82 Not talking about Tribe fans. You rarely hear people talking about how good Phife is
word up !
+David Caetano i totally agree with your statement , phife is so nice on the mic
+David Caetano Try to deny him of his props and he'll be seeing you.
Beats, Rhymes and Life is so underrated...
+João Gabriel Their best album IMO. Of course, all their stuff is good, which is a real rarity for hiphop. Most acts have one good album, or two at a push - everything Tribe touched was gold.
Huge tribe fan but it is missing a lot..for starts album isn't mastered very well. Beats n words sound weird don't sound right on a lot of songs
I found out about this album maybe a year ago. I would be 6 years old when this came out so I didn't realize what I missed out on. Went in to the rap scene to late. Now I think this is my favorite album.
Personally, it's my favourite ATCQ album
CLASSIC
I will FOREVER love A Tribe Called Quest!
Me too forever and ever
Do you still love them 8 years later?
@@Michael.Eddington he said forever, didn’t he.
I'll love them a minute longer
Hip hop used to be so beautiful. And that smooth voice by tammy lucas 💪💪💪. R.I.P phife Dawg. S/O from Germany.
👊
I know especially New York hip hop I love the jazzy beats
Different music and groups could be heard back then now the
Grüße aus d nach d 💗
The hook is what gets me. Her voice coupled with the DJ riff on the beat is just perfection. Love me some ATCQ
For me it's the jazzy bass line with the melody
S.K. Fusion yeah that bass line rips - on a good system, can’t get better cuz it’s not too low end
One of the best Tribe hooks for sure. My favorite though is The Chase pt. 2. That shit is just magical.
I feel you. her voice is beautiful and perfect matching with vibe and sound. this track always gives me good feeling
this very track and stressed out where produced by J Dilla but credited as the Umma
Phife was always on point. R.I.P. LEGEND
U on point fife? All the time tip? Then grab the microphone and give the dead some life
A Tribe called quest best forever🎉
Tribe is one of the best groups ever. Smooth soulful melodies galore.

@d00bZubElEk in one of the interviews dilla said he made 1nce again in tip's basement while tip was walking around
Yo my 15yr old is blasting this in his room right now. I'm shocked that he even knew anything about this. I'm a die hard ATQC fan I guess the shit rubbed off!
+hope mcgill at least your child knows what good hip hop music is
Very true!! :)
