Leaders of the new school BUSTA

So young too
So many similarities between him and ODB. Both great rappers.
It was bound to happen they say when it was recorded he didn’t let anyone here his verse until he went in the booth

I really don't understand how Busta isn't ever mentioned in the GOAT status. Man has been consistently high level from early 90s. So underrated it's crazy
Its true he is severely underrated Master level MC for sure.
this song made me consider Busta in the goat Catagory. he came in with striaght fire, the beat was perfect for his flow.

Busta Rhymes has rapped in 5 different decades. Only a handful of others can claim that with him and they're all legendary to the culture.
He is the GOAT
@@Nick_brinks04Busta Rhymes was rapping in the 80's and started the group 'Leaders of the New School' in 1989. He's still going hard in the 2020's, so that's hittin 5 decades.
I got dreadlocks in 92 after watching The Sobb Story. Busta's dreads were exactly what I wanted.
Who remembers that bug that video give me some more that s*** is still crazy to this day the way it starts off with a psycho intro and he's still making bangers to this day or the Mariah Carey one it was smooth but it was good cuz even she said it was awesome😎🤔💯
And Q-Tip is part of those legends!😉
If you were blessed to be alive when this collaboration happened you are one of the lucky ones! Everyone was so hyped up by this song!! Classics and legends never die!!
I was way late to the party, but I'm so glad I'm finding it now
Not only was i around when this came out, i got to see Tribe with De la Soul and Souls of Mischief for $10 in a small 250 person venue in Lincoln Ne, in 1993 i think it was. Maybe 94...yeah, Im old... 🤔✌

This song is over 30 years old. I remember when I was just a kid and ease dropped to my older brother playing this cassette. Constant high energy and lyrical bravado. Busta had a cadence I had never heard and Tip had the coolest voice. This is when I fell in love with hip hop.

This song was the emergence of Busta Rhymes. He totally blew up after his line on this song. That "Roar, roar like a dungeon dragon" was the most imitated line after this and what everyone talked about.
That and also, "Oh My God, Show my Gosh". Mad people bit that too

@@goodmanfilife9131 Very true, but that's a crew. Even Hit Squad's headbanger was dope, but that was a crew. These were two separate camps who happened to mesh well and put out a hella good song. Even Tribe and Brand Nubian's track together was hella tight. But It was something about this track and video that both felt like magic at the time. This is all my opinion of course.

Love retro Busta Bust....and the fact that that Nicolas Miraj stole that lyric in "Roman's Revenge" just ain't cool.
Danielle Afreh I don't think it was stealing, more of an homage. By that logic Tribe completely ripped off Lou Reed on Can I Kick It.
Lol why if Nikki was such an amazing artist as people go out to say she is, she wouldn't need to sample......a lot of people don't know that the "rawr rawr like dungeon Dragon " comes from this song and unfortunately those sucky people give credits do quote to Nikki and not to busta was the genius artist behind it.

ua-cam.com/video/f3a_si4A1vQ/v-deo.html
That's true. Imitation of something good is often nice, but will never be the same. Because the originals weren't imitating anything, they were inventing.
Check out Coast Contra, new and old school fusion.
We call this old school, but at the time this was new school.
The 90s was a great decade. The music that was made in those years was thoughtful and had heart behind it . People really lived for the music .
Indeed... it was truly the last decade that didn't reek of sanitized, carbon-copied corporatism in all things creative.
It had it's share of problems, but human brain is built so that it tends to forget all the negative things. For example, in the 90's the world suffered its worst depression. Many people lost their jobs, their homes and their marriages. People were involved in debts and suicide rates were at all time high. Crime waves sweeped accross the world. There were several genocides committed all around the world. Bullyting wasn't a regognized problem yet in schools or in work places. Women (and men) got sexually harassed on a daily basis. Gays/trans etc. were still treated as a sickness and AIDS killed you within a year or max two.
@@Sc0pee Nah... nothing you mention is unique to the 90's -- *that's just the cruel world we live in every decade, and nearly all of that is far worse today.* The 90's was the greatest time to be alive for many people, myself included. Regardless, when someone looks upon any period of time fondly, try not to rob them of that. Some people falling on hard times right now need all the positive memories they can get.
So many different groups that had hits...just ridiculous....I miss it

I am 43 and when ATCQ came out I was a white, metal loving punk kid. They are one of only a handful of groups that got me to appreciate and love hip hop and The Low End Theory is in my top 10 albums of all times. I was happy to see ATCQ in concert in the 90's. RIP Phife Dawg.
Dammm striaght, i am so the same...fuk yeh
I've heard from so many metal heads on these videos, and really i shouldn't surprised. As a Philly guy who grew up with no white friends, I was shocked when I got to college and discovered suburban white kids grew up liking rap and could recite lyrics.
Much love for showing mad respect to one of the icons of rap.
We listened to metal and real hip hop like this when I was in my high school years. This album wasn’t my first hip hop album but it was extremely influential.
🔥
I'm a mixed dude (half North African and white and look Puerto Rican/Hispanic) and grew up poor in the hoods of DC/Maryland. I naturally was around lots of Hip Hop in the 90's but once Nirvana's Nevermind came out I got into Rock then into punk rock, heavy metal, GO GO (DC music!), Blues, Jazz and for Country some Johnny Ca$h. As long as the music sounds good I like it whether it's popular or not. I grew my hair out long, wore my favorite rock band t shirts and also naturally had an Urban ebonic talking side to me while not sounding overly Urban to the point of not being able to understand what the hell I was saying 😂 I also love Hardcore music like Madball, Agnostic Front, Cro Mags, Bad Brains (are considered punk rock, reggae and Hardcore which is what made them so special other than the fact they were 4 black dudes from DC that wore long dreadlocks like Rastafarians but played some of the most manic and aggressive punk rock you could ever hear back in the 80's!).
Champion sweatshirts, Starter caps, timberland boots...oh the 90's were so dope

Man one of my fave songs ever- I remember being at the park on the swings w my homies rapping this song word for word..so glad I was around to experience this ..
50 years of hip hop! And I'm here for all the smoke. Thank god I was born in the 70ths 🎉😂
I appreciate these artists so much more as an adult....in my youth gangsta rap was everything, and the "alternative rap" was an afterthought...Every rap song talked about "my nine" and "smokin a fool"...wich is fine, i still love gangsta rap...but seeing the devastation of violence in the streets makes me appreciate that these men tried to go a different route with their lyrics!
Think about it...most of them KNEW they werent gonna make crazy money if they werent doin gangsta rap..yet they chose to do conscious music anyways.
Respect to the whole genre
This is a classic album period.
That's a plus Cuz! I think about it as you laid that out - with NWA, Eazy, Too Short, E-40, Spice One, Compton's Most Wanted, Cube - it went on and on. Then you had Illegal, EPMD, DMX, Naughty By Nature, Eric B and Rakim, LL, D-Nice, and others like BlackMoon, Gangstarr, Jay Z and Nas, AZ and your girl Foxy, it went on and on from Gangsta Bangin, to Underground, Hip Hop Hardcore... then there was Public Enemy and Kane.
But the Native Tongues??? That was Heaven! They were a sanctuary! They, along with Christian artists like Kirk Franklin, BeBe and CeCe Winans, even some R&B Artists - they balanced the Street Digest of Gutta Reality. GOD I miss them all! Every one of them!
The Jungle Brothers, Leaders of a New School, Tribe, Queen Latifa, Moni Love, Digable Planets, Common, Phacyde!
STREETBEEFS... THAT WAS HIP HOP!!!
they were adults
What do you mean gangster rap is cool? No it wasn't
