Lyrics
Uh one two, uh one two
Uh one two, uh one two
Breakadawn, breakadawn (uh one two, uh one two)
Breakadawn, breakadawn (uh one two, uh one two)
Breakadawn, breakadawn (uh one two, uh one two)
Breakadawn, breakadawn (uh one two, uh one two)
Breakadawn, breakadawn (uh one two, uh one two)
Break of-
I was born in the Boogie Down cat scan
Where my building fell down on the rats and
People sold the super on a trip to the penile (penile)
While I settle off the shores of the Long Isle
My file is clean, I mean my mind is clear when I transmit
I am the manner of the family cause the pants fit
I want to let forensics prove, that I can mends Groove
Wit the thread from needle outta hay, I wanna say
Salutations to the nation of the Nubians
We bout to place you in that 3 Feet of stew again
I got the frequency to shatter Mrs. Jones' perm
I gotta "Hey Love" all the honeys cause they're short term
Tallyin the score I'm for the shottie in the jacket
For the brother he's a nigga when he packs it
So get your butt out the sling, I stung Muhammad float a note
That means I'm def, so like the autographs you sign until the break
Breakadawn, breakadawn
(Ah one two, ah one two)
Breakadawn, breakadawn
(Uh one two, uh one two)
Breakadawn, breakadawn
(Uh one two, uh one two)
Breakadawn, breakadawn
(Uh one two, uh one two)
Break of-
Ayo, groove with the mayor, hazard on the sayer
Wave the eighteen mill, eat a still
Sack or bag of troubles, make the single double
Loop the coin and join the minimum wage
I had a plan if I was the man, I'd throw the J
Lay it low and late night I get sessed
Uncondition my ways, of the everyday sunset
Wagin’ my days, to the one bet
Cause your breaks'll have the carrot of cakes, whether mine
Out of line, I breeze into the early mornin'
Freak the WIC call and get a tap on my shoulder
Cause the days of the breaks, be just about over
The arts of the six won't play my bag of tricks
I got the sevens in my pocket somewhere
Reasons for the Cheer All Temperature here
I keep it to the rear, and then I'm exploding
I be the fab, I be the fabulous but see unlike the Chi
I got the flea up in the name (ah one two, ah one two)
Can't no one bend my cousin from the Peter Piper like the others
Latchin on to when I caught the fame (ah one two, ah one two)
Pass the task to ask me bout the Native Tongue again my friend
I tell you Jungle Brothers On the Run (ah one two, ah one two)
I'm shakin’ hands with many devils in the industry
Believe the Genesis like Phil with stills mean that I'm def
So like the autographs you sign until the
Breakadawn, breakadawn
(Uh one two, uh one two)
Breakadawn, breakadawn
(Uh one two, uh one two)
Breakadawn, breakadawn
(Uh one two, uh one two)
Breakadawn, breakadawn
(Uh one two, uh one two)
We in the mornin' at the end, but in the end I be the is
Cause in the mix, man, it's alright
Momma got the rhythm to my day-life
My pops gots enough so best to leave or sail the waves
To the Long I laid the anchor in the 'Ville
And how I relate, I stay inside of my gates
Paper days, mess up my mind, ground zero degrees
And the weather feels fine
You opened my eyes man, thought I had a man
But how could I eye-scan, I wasn't around
I seen the states and played the dates in the far-far
Gathered the new, from the zoas around
Grew up with Mikey Rodes and played the codes
Sometimes I don't budge, without my cous' Fuzz
A simple, "How ya do?" Ah check it from my friends and my crew
Makes it definitely special
Now there's no ‘Shiny Happy People’ in the crew we play the rough
I got the huff, and puff, to blow the house low
You know the never-ending factor while I'm over, tell a squid
I know an Enterprising brother, so report to the bridge
I bounce a ball with my left, a squid with my right
(Cause a squid is just a punk)
Yo he deserved to lose the fight
I might meander 'cross your dream, travellin' up the stream
Plug Wonder Wonder Why you're lonely tonight
We see the girls scream as if we're shocked by the live shell
Let's round em up and get 'em back to the hotel
Motel, holiday, inn-fact
I'm gonna let you know, once again, that De La Soul
Is sure to show you we will hit the charter harder
Than the normal rappin' fool
(Uh one two, uh one two)

That Michael Jackson sample is timeless
Facts Bro 💯💯 #Blessings
And ‘quiet storm’ by Smokey Robinson
Don't forget those ill Pointer Sister "Yes We Can Can" drums
This was released in '93. MJ's Invincible album didn't come out 'til '99
@@sallyssonI think he means Michael Jackson's "I can't Help It" not break of dawn from invincible.
Thank God i got ears
Real affff
"My father's clear, when I transmit" BREAK OF DAWN ❤❤❤
Alhamdulilah 🤲
This jam never gets old.
30 years old and this joint still sounds like it's new. RIP Trugoy!
Word up
Beautiful track no guns, drugs etc. Just reflections on life.... Rest well Trugoy 🕊
Well said, R.I.P
This beat is 🔥🔥🔥
That's half the reason de la soul is my favorite hip hop outfit. The other half is the beautiful rhymes and the samples they choose. They're some of the most creative when it comes to samples.
Tjat’s what some call « Theo Huxtable rap »
A rap that make you think, realise some things, grow your mind,….
They are poets like arrested devellopement,a teibe calles quest, bouz II men,…
guns can be used to express reflections on life
2:33 "I'm shaking hands with many devils in the industry..." This verse was way too accurate for this legendary Hip Hop group.
And it explains why their discography was for so long forbidden from Spotify, youtube, etc.
Industry rule 4080
The first 45 seconds are mesmerizing AF
It's sad that the new generation of rappers who were born in that generation aren't even influenced by these kind of rappers.
Well said
Facts. I still listen too and like this type raps from when I was a kid in the 90s > today's rap
Check out coast contra
Right
So on point. It really felt like hip Hop was heading this way, more conscious raps, but I suppose every generation has a new set of naive kids that'll get swept up in the superficial bull shit.
This song was so slept on
They were possibly at the height of their powers as MCs, here. The flow is absolutely incredible.
93! Magic was in the air
They're Hip-Hop icons
@@prof3ssor178just like the Gorillaz
@@prof3ssor178I wouldn’t say Icons lol To me,they’re like A Tribe called Quest.
An Icon, like Nas,Big,Cube,AZ,Pac,not even in the same league as them
Still flying high as far as I'm concerned. None better.
Growing up as a punk skater in the late 90's early 2000's I despised rap. Then I found this song by accident and it opened up a whole new world to me. Now I have a newfound respect for old school rap ❤
I relate to this so much, skater of the same era.
Grew up on grunge and nu metal, I despised rap up until I was about 8 years old and came across 93 'til infinity - souls of mischief.
It opened up a whole new avenue of music for me, from that moment on I was HOOKED on hip hop.
It's been my go to genre ever since.
Respect from the UK.
Skating a hip-hop just goes together so well 😅
We appreciate you recognizing our era of music💯. The 90s had a versatility of music you can relate to & vibe. Hip hop can fit any situation you experience💯. When you listen to it, you can actually picture it as they made the lyrical seem realistic & understanding, relatable 💯. It was much better than this new era of rap. Its trash!
That's what dangerdoom did for me in 06. There the reason I listen to rap
Kids got to get it... Hip-hop is Punk.
Michael Jackson’s “Can’t Help It” is the basis of this beat. Amazing track
This song is a classic. How could it not have more views than this? One of my favorite DLS songs!
Because it's only been up for 6 months the views are going to go up.
It wasn't available for so long but we're going to run it up 😂 this is a hip hop gem.
Love all these music videos. I always get excited when I see a another coming out. Letting Dave live on through their music.
Same I get excited too no lie
💯
We love you DAVE💪🏽
Not only Dave but MJ as well.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
That track is so ethereal
It's more entertaining that the Gorillaz even make songs with them.
@@elenaofavalormoanadisneypr6893 agreed
I miss this whole culture. Today's music got nothing for me :*(
Kendrick Lamar?
@@patotops135no. But he’s great!
Same in France
He sucks too@@patotops135
@@patotops135his old music was dope but nothing beats the old school 🫡
Still slapping this jam 30 years later and loving it. Early 93 my lady and I heard it for the 1st time and was digging it. Still together today
Blessings
Word
You have yourself an awesome woman. I was only 12 when this came out. Caught on years later because I was heavily invested in hip hop. Trying to get my lady into De La being she's 8 years younger than me. She's finally catching on
@@johnkiz9310both of you 😂 are great guys schooling your queens on hip hop ❤ many more happy times .
beautiful havenskee19 this song will always be special to you.
1993 gem 🔥
Yeap
De LA Soul's Buhloone Mindstate is a classic album from beginning to end
One of my favorite De La videos 🕊️
Underrated Michael Jackson sanple
What part is the mj sample
@adriancortez3965 "I Can't Help It" is playing the entire time. "Break of Dawn" is from Smokey Robinson's "Quiet Storm". "Nanananananana" is from a Bar-kays song. The title escapes me. Go on Who Sampled.
Facts
It's not underrated. Underrated doesn't mean what you think it means.
Super underrated
I wish I go back to this time. Every thing was so chill and laid back in the 90s.
This is so good. I wish I was alive when De La was at their peak. Just intelligent minded men reflecting their feelings on different situations and thoughts they were having at the time.
Eu concordo plenamente, com você 👍🏼
Love the profile pic!! Tommy was ALWAYS my favorite Power Ranger!
@@LoLifeIsForever-hl2nm Tommy is just a wholesome character for sure!
@@StillBillyD92Agreed 💯
One of the best tracks ever!
Man this song takes me back when I was 13 yrs old riding on the train to school...I wish I can go back to the 90s..had lot of fun and this song was perfect
One of their very best songs. Immediately grabbed my ears the first time I heard it.
'90s hip-hop at its finest
The 90's. When rap was actually at its best. All the groups had it going on and DelaSoul was up there. Their own style of uniqueness. They don't make 'em like this no more. #Bittersweet 😅
Could not agree more!
@@michaelcherry5836 thank you, Michael! someone finally agrees with me 🙏
HELP EVERYONE!! I CAN'T STOP LISTENING TO THIS SONG!!! ITS JUST TOO GOOOOOOOD!!
Lol me 2
Same
I randomly heard this song on UA-cam in like 2014, and then it got removed not long after. I tried searching for it over the next few years and couldn’t find it. Then finally I was listening to Spotify today and it played with recommended shuffle playlist after I had just finished work on during my drive home. Then I yelled “Breakadawn!!!,De la soul!! I finally found it again!” with a smile on my face. I’m so happy they have the rights to their music again. God bless em’.😊
w dave thumbnail, w song, i’m hyped for this next drop!! breakadawn top 5 de la tracks !!
This is "Real" 'ol school! They are just focusing on Real Music! And not about the jewelry, cars, clothes, and new teeth 😂. Just TRUE hip hop ❤
one of the greatest hip hop songs. Love from Brazil ❤❤
Who’s listening in 2024 🙋🏾♂️classic 🔥🔥🔥🔥
De La Soul, Definitely 1 of the BEST Hip-Hop groups ever formed!🔥🔥🔥🔥
Shout out to the video production company. The editing is dope af.
Thank you for officially having this finally up!! long live Dave 2023 til infinity!
Ugh. So sad about Trugoy the Dove’s passing. Love these guys as much today as I did back in the day. Thank you, De La Soul, for reminding us what it means to put out hip hop with some soul. Soooo much better than the shallow “look at my Lambo, look at my rocks, look at my money and women” BS that is so tired it needs an effing pillow. LOL. RIP, Trugoy.
A freakin' classic 💯. #RIPTrugoytheDove 🕊️🌹🙏🏼

Love this song. De la soul and a lot of 90’s groups were really the original kings of cool 🎤
It's good to see this one again, Breakadawn is such a great song
Keep it coming.
TRUGOY THE DOVE! DAVE & POSDNOUS! WE LOVE YOU!
When I was a senior in college these guys performed on campus with Naughty by Nature and the Beatnuts. It was a great concert.

Real New York rap.
Im glad this finally made it back to UA-cam
Crazy to think the album (Buhloone Mindstate) that this song is on was released a day before I was born 🤯
Pos your flow is impeccable on this track, salute💯
He kills it at 2:20, incredible flow
Easily their best song
True hip hop! Man the 90s bring back so many memories! Forever classic Era! I wish the Era would come back for awhile! I remember hearing this as a young child! Nostalgic!!
Compared to the bullshii being put out these days. This is heaven
I was 34 when this came out in 1993. In the 1990s each Rap band each had its own style that stood out.
This one is still hot in 2024 Detroit East side❤
This song and Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince’s “ Summertime “ have the best vibes.
This is the video I've been waiting for. They took it off all the other youtubers channels. I miss this video. I miss Trugoy. Pos and Mase keep you head up. We rocking with Dela Soul. ❤ from Brooklyn
When samples were first used..good times😊❤
We in the mornin at the end, but in the end I be the is
cause in the mix, man, it's alright🌼☮
I always wondered what those orange and brown kicks Pos was rocking in this video
Strong Island in the house! Amityville stand up!
This Track is So Captivating…… 🎶
Loved De La Soul in 90s..... somehow lost touch.... and now finding them again. My mind is imploding right now. I'm in love again. Love and respect from Scotland.
My favorite De La Soul song, so classic!
Ahh that de la vibe!!!
NO MATTER THE YEAR, I'M ALWAYS LISTENING 🎯 💯 🔥 🖤
I love this song with all my soul
Still my favorite de la soul song to this day, love them always but LOVE this forever
This song has always been my favorite De La track, but it has more weight after December of ‘22, where it helped me get through a difficult period in my life, and after Dave’s passing. Absolutely phenomenal beat; ethereal, and otherworldly! Fantastic storytelling, and flows. It has such a bittersweet feeling that elevates my Soul, like it’s saying “life sucks now, but it will get better.” Amazing
Happy birthday Prince Paul!! 🎉
One of the best underrated Hip Hop group of ALL TIME!!!
KEEP EM COMING! Love these videos
I heard Posduous notorious kept footage on de la in the studio thrown away tracks and so forth. I hope they use this page to share.
That would b dope to see !!

Ça me rappelle des très beaux souvenirs, j'ai les larmes aux yeux , le bon vieux temps ❤💔
I know😢
I hear you. It reminds me of when some of my people were still alive
Nice to finally be able to watch this and know the right folks were getting the Pennies. I used this track as an intro to my radio show in university some 30 years ago. One of my favourites.
TRUGOY R.I.P. AMEN 🌹
Please never forget the fact that they & all brand Nubians had (have) the gift to push away all dangerous & negativity things which costs so sadly other Rapper’s live around those days!.
Just one but very important point why I love their style✊🏼✌🏼‼️
The Michael Jackson "Can't Help It" and Smokey Robinson "Quiet Storm" blend is ridiculous,
It finally dropped 😢 my fav de la song ❤
One of my favourite Hip Hop Songs..Im glad born in 1985 and was young kid growing up when these songs came out Fresh New..And now are Memorable Classics..Peace..
A great song and a fantastically clever video. Ground zero degrees and the weather feels fine y’all.

It's kind of crazy how their fashion translates to today...de la were legit trendsetters
I loved this video and song back in the day. Thanks for bringing back Art!
