  • Many of the research projects in the Innovating for Maternal and Child Health in Africa (IMCHA) initiative explored ways to engage communities to improve maternal and child health across East and West Africa. IMCHA projects contributed to increasing the number of women who use antenatal care services early and throughout their pregnancy. These visits facilitated detection and management of risks. IMCHA also contributed to increasing deliveries in facilities and attendance of postnatal care. Working with communities helped raise awareness of the importance of women’s and children’s health.
The video is part of a series that captures results from the IMCHA initiative. There are also 12 videos that explore important cross cutting themes and an impacts video highlighting some of the initiative’s successes in making a difference for women, children, and the entire population.
